In order to develop a friendlier human-machine interface, more precise control of the six degree of freedom robot will be achieved. The manipulator is driven by PLC which is programmed in TIA Portal V14, and PLC is responsible to keeping up with the upper computer. The communication mode is TCP/IP communication protocol, and the upper computer is developed by using Socket technology under C++MFC environment. Kinematics analysis of the manipulator is carried out by D-H parameter method and embedded into the upper computer program([9]). Finally, the absolute positioning control of the manipulator is realized. Through the visualized human-computer interface, the motion process and control principle of learning six degrees of freedom robot can be understood in a more depth.

This paper presents a hardware-supported resource management methodology for massively parallel processor arrays. It enables processing elements to autonomously explore resource availability in their neighborhood. To support resource exploration, we introduce specialized controllers, which can be attached to each of the processing elements. We propose different types of architectures for the exploration controller: fast FSM-based designs as well as flexible programmable controllers. These controllers allow to implement different distributed resource exploration strategies in order to enable parallel programs the exploration and reservation of available resources according to different application requirements. Hardware cost evaluations show that the cost of the simplest implementation of our programmable controller is comparable to our FSM-based implementations, while offering the flexibility for implementing different exploration strategies. We show that the proposed distributed approach can achieve a significant speedup in comparison with centralized resource exploration methods.

When fault occur in electric power systems, protection and automation schemes take all necessary actions to properly isolate the problem, assuming a safe or emergency operating state. On these occasions, human operators should review all messages, events and alarms from SCADA to understand the underlying situation. Only after this analysis, based on previous experience and knowledge, the operators may order the system restoration to a normal operating state. The data to be understood are usually conflicting, confusing and numerous, since they were sequentially triggered by many devices, resulting in an avalanche of information. Due to these characteristics a full human-based analysis is difficult, slow and prone to failure. This paper addresses a Fuzzy logic based diagnosis system, which can quickly interpret the avalanche of data resulting from an undergoing fault situation, to properly access, assist and ease the human-based operation of the power system. The system used a novel scheme, with fully compliant IEC 61850 communication scheme, solely based on GOOSE and MMS messages, to acquire data from all substation equipment, as long as a modern programmable controller, to execute all artificial intelligence routines needed.

The paper deals with an analysis of features of on-off controllers. It was assumed that the control quality can be described by three distinctive indexes: the period, the amplitude and the mean value of the controlled signal in the steady state. The on-off controller with positive hysteresis was a basic form of the controller that was analyzed. To eliminate the disadvantages of this basic form the controller structure was augmented by inertia corrector. Its impact on mentioned above indicators was shown and described. To compensate the negative influence of inertia corrector on the mean value of the controlled signal, an additional proportional corrector was proposed. Its influence on control quality was shown and discussed. To show how easy it is to build the proposed structure of the controller, its exemplary implementation in the ladder logic language of the S7-1200 PLC was described.

This paper presents an overview of Pipeline Project Technical Documents, along with Control Room Management and Compliance Issues, Challenges and Processes in the Oil & Gas Industry. It will be based on the work that the authors have developed between 2010 and 2015. With an overwhelming number of standards, norms, and best practices, operational and security requirements needs to be well implemented and documented. Any compliance issues have the potential to cause serious repercussions to an organization as an incident or an audit failure could result in significant financial loss. This review is especially critical to the industry as it highlights the advantages of taking a broad approach to obtain and maintain compliance in today's Oil & Gas regulatory environment. The focus will be on pipeline monitoring regulations-Department of Transportation (DOT) Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and American Petroleum Institute (API) recommended practices: API 1164 (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System - SCADA Security), API 1165 (SCADA Displays), API 1167 (SCADA Alarm Management) and API 1168 (Control Room Management). Regarding Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems (SCADA) security, this includes not only IT infrastructure such as computers and network related appliances, but also other equipment such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) depending on the system architecture. The cyber-security threat has become a real issue related to critical infrastructure protection, and physical or human-risk issues. Understanding the systems vulnerabilities that could impact the availability of the control system and the facilities it controls is key. On the Control Room Management side, current PHMSA regulatory framework, a human factors plan is required to ensure control systems match human capabilities and limitations. In this paper we have presented the design and the functioning of a programmable controller for combustion engines with spark ignition, designed for the tuning of sports cars. We have presented the method of connection of the computer with the target system, a draft of the algorithm of engine's work and the structure of used data. The second part has been dedicated to the tested methods of the adaptive correction of the fuel map and ignition map contents. We have presented two of the designed and used algorithms, as well as the principles and effects of their work. We have also compared their performances and utility during tuning and use of a race car engine.

Discrete Event Dynamic Systems (DEDS), are systems which change state over tine, based on current state and slate transition rules. Each state is separated from its neighbour by a step rather than a continuum of infinitesimal states. This continuum in DEDS needs a representation between 0 and 1. The application of fuzzy logic in defining and modelling the DEDS is suggested as a possible solution because the nature of DEDS may be asynchronous, distributed, parallel, non-deterministic and/or stochastic. This results in the generalisation of crisp finite automata into fuzzy automata for a DEDS. In this paper, a DEDS in the form of Hopper Feed System is considered [4]. The system is reformulated rising state vectors and event transition matrices and is extended to fuzzy vectors and matrices. An algorithm is proposed for the final control action to be implemented using a programmable Logic Controller (PLC).

Intensive global competition requires the automotive manufacturers to launch new vehicle models with a shorter launch time, better quality, lower cost and more customization. One of the key enablers for achieving these objectives is to have an efficient & error-free manufacturing automation system which is typically controlled by programmable Logic controllers (PLC). The current PLC logic code testing process in automotive industry is usually performed manually by individual engineer, and the overall testing quality highly depends on the engineer's expertise and experience. The PLC logic code testing normally consists of two parts, testing requirements (specification) and testing methods. One of the major hurdles for applying rigorous testing methods on PLC logic verification in industry is the lack of formal testing specifications. The current PLC testing specifications and requirements are documented in various formats, such as sequence of operation document, process instrument diagram, wiring diagrams, and time motion diagrams, etc. These varied documents cannot be directly used for control logic testing and require a better alternative. Formal methods, the latest technology widely used in software testing, is an approach selected for generating comprehensive test cases to ensure the correctness and consistency of PLC programs. This paper presents a novel approach for specifying the expected behavior of the already implemented industrial PLC code. The generated formal specification models can work with math-based logic verification tool to facilitate the usage of formal verification in manufacturing automation control. The results of a PLC implementation of embedded Model Predictive Control (MPC) for an industrial problem are presented in this paper. The embedded MPC developed is based on the linear MPC module in SEPTIC (Statoil Estimation and Prediction Tool for Identification and Control), and it combines custom ANSI C code generation with problem size reduction methods, embedded real-time considerations, and a primal-dual first-order method that provides a fast and light QP solver obtained from the FiOrdOs code generator toolbox. Since the primal-dual first-order method proposed in this paper is new in the control community, an extensive comparison study with other state-of-the-art first-order methods is conducted to underline its potential. The embedded MPC was implemented on the ABB AC500 PLC, and its performance was tested using hardware-in-the-loop simulation of Statoil's newly patented subsea compact separation process. A warm-start variant of the proposed first-order method outperforms a tailored interior-point method by a factor of 4 while occupying 40% less memory.
