Using particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithm to evolve an optimum input subset for a SVM is proposed. Binary pso algorithm is employed in feature selection, in which each particle represented as a binary vector corresponds to a candidate input subset. A swarm of particles flies through the input set space for targeting the optimal subset. In order to evaluate the reasonable fitness of each input subset, pso algorithm is used to adaptively evolve SVM to obtain the best performance of network, in which each particle represented as a real vector corresponds to the candidate kernel parameters Of SVM. This method has been applied in a real financial time series forecasting, the results show that it has better performance of generalization, and higher rate of convergence.

Blind deconvolution algorithms in image processing estimate the original image and the true Point Spread Function (PSF) simultaneously with prior information about the PSF or the original image. This is an ill- posed problem and requires regularization to be solved. In addition to the type of regularization functions, the value of regularization parameters can drastically affect the output result. In this paper, we propose a Particle Swarm Optimization (pso) algorithm for selecting optimum values of regularization parameters in blind image deconvolution. The algorithm has been tested on standard images and then compared with non- improved ones, in terms of three standard metrics. A real Passive Millimeter Wave (PMMW) image blurred by an unknown PSF is also used in this algorithm to obtain a sharp deblurred image with an estimate of the PSF. Simulation results show that the proposed method improves the quality of the estimated PSF and the deblurred image.

This paper presents the determination of number of cracks, lengths, locations and angles of plural cracks by inverse analysis on the basis of strains measured around the cracks. The strains due to plural cracks at any points in infinite plate are calculated by using the body force method. The analysis of inverse problem is carried out by using the pso algorithm, in which the fitness is a reciprocal of difference between the strains calculated by the body force method and the measured strains. The effectiveness of present method is clarified through numerical simulation. The results show that the present method using the pso algorithm and the body force method gives accurate results for inverse problem of plural cracks.

Fast and high-quality text clustering algorithm is an important and challenging problem in effectively navigating. Such as the high-dimensional sparse text data, poor efficiency of unsupervised feature selection, and defects existing in classical clustering methods and so on. In this paper, an effective and unsupervised text clustering method (OK-pso) is proposed. First, k-means is used to calculate the distance from each term to the cluster centers, and then the two-dimensional Otsu algorithm is included to evaluate the optimization of clustering distance threshold. The process of 2D Otsu is taken by pso algorithm. Finally, several experiments are taken based on OK-pso and some other methods. The experimental results illustrate the efficiency of OK-pso method proposed in this paper.

Exergoeconomic and thermoeconomic analysis are among powerful and effective tools to find the best solutions between the two objective functions that can be used by energy engineers, minimizing economic cost and maximizing exergetic efficiency. In this research, operating parameters of a gas turbine power plant that produces 140 MW of electricity is optimized by using exergoeconomic principles and pso algorithm. The comparison of results between the pso algorithm and the base model shows very good improvements, i.e. the fuel mass flow rate by optimized parameters is 11.24% lower than the base case. Also the exergetic efficiency is 6.55% more than the base case. The verification by fuzzy logic shows that total matching pso results and base case is 99.5%.
