GWO-Based Tuning of LQR-PID Controller for a 3-DOF Parallel Manipulator

This paper presents the mathematical modeling and optimal trajectory tracking control of a 3-degree-of-freedom parallel manipulator, commonly known as Maryland manipulator. Three unlike sequential trajectories are considered, and the trajectory-tracking control of a manipulator is performed by the LQR-PID controller. The tuning of LQR-PID is done by using the Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO), a meta-heuristic method. The two other traditional benchmarking algorithms are Particle Swarm Optimizer (pso) and Genetic algorithm (GA). The main goal of this work is to calculate the optimum values of LQR gain parameters i.e. Q and R matrices and PID controller's gains i.e. K-p, K-i and K-d using three different optimization algorithms, and their performance comparisons are highlighted in simulation results and discussion section. According to the obtained simulation results, the proposed GWO methodology is more efficient and more accurate in trajectory tracking control and generates optimal torques to the input links of the manipulator when compared with other evolutionary optimization algorithms such as pso and GA.

Comparison of the Performance of the Optimized Squared-Off and Match Abundance Ratio Cascades to Separate Lightest and Heaviest Molybdenum Isotopes to 99.99%

The performance of the optimized three-section squared-off cascade is compared with that of a match abundance ratio cascade (MARC) for the enrichment of Mo-92 and Mo-100 isotopes from their natural composition to 99.99%. Two codes, namely, 3SQC-pso and MARC-pso, are developed for optimizing 200 centrifuge cascades using the particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithms. The objective function is to maximize the cascade capacity, recovery factor, and the D-function and to minimize the total interstage flow. A comparison of the results shows that a MARC is able to enrich Mo-100 with the highest recovery and production capacity. Due to the fact that more than one separation step is required for the separation of Mo-92, a MARC is beyond the capability to separate it to 99.99%, but a squared-off cascade is capable of making this. Therefore, if the goal is the separation of all or some of isotopes of an element, the squared-off cascade is the preferred option for economical industrialization and reducing installation.

Novel weight-adaptive fusion grey prediction model based on interval sequences and its applications

With the increasing complexity of systems, it is difficult to describe a huge amount of in-formation accurately with real numbers. To make predictions using uncertain information, this study uses interval numbers as descriptors and proposes a weight-adaptive fusion grey prediction model based on interval sequences (WAFGM(1,N) model). Unlike most interval prediction models;the proposed model uses the adaptive weight and compensation coeffi-cient to directly predict interval grey numbers without converting interval sequences into real number sequences. Moreover, it improves the four errors of the traditional GM(1,N) model, thereby further improving model accuracy. First, by fully considering the integrity and interaction of the upper and lower boundaries of the interval, this study introduced a weight parameter to comprehensively characterize the development trend of the interval, and by optimizing the background value and adjusting the compensation coefficient, the univariate and multivariate weight-adaptive grey prediction models for interval prediction were constructed, respectively. Second, the interval development and driving coefficients, compensation coefficient, and weight parameter were estimated and optimized using the least squares method, accumulation method, and particle swarm algorithm, respectively. Finally, the WAFGM(1,N) model was constructed by combining the two models. The valid-ity and applicability of the WAFGM(1,N) model were proved using two examples: the gross agricultural output value of Northeast China and the production of dairy products in the golden milk source areas.(c) 2022 Elsevier Inc. DC-DC Boost Converters Parameters Estimation Based on Digital Twin

This paper presents the real-time monitoring of the degradation parameters of the DC-DC boost converter by utilizing the Digital Twin (DT) method. The DT is a real-time high-fidelity mathematical (digital) model that runs in parallel to the physical DC-DC boost converter, providing information for its monitoring and control using the measurement data coming from the sensors already existing in the asset. The digital model is obtained by means of the Backward Euler numerical methodology for discrete-time representation of the mathematical switching model of the physical system. The estimation of degradation parameters of the physical system is based on the data analysis carried out by comparing the data measured by the sensors existing in the physical system and the data coming from the digital model. The data analysis is done by applying the heuristic algorithm like Particle Swarm Optimization (pso) method. The proposed method is validated through the digital-switching model realized by means of the FPGA and it runs on a suitable control board. Experimental tests on the converter prototype are illustrated. For further validation, a sensitivity analysis is carried out.

Research on Adaptive Two-Point Energy Management Strategy and Optimization for Range-Extended Electric Vehicle

This article proposes an adaptive parameter optimization energy management strategy suitable for range-extended electric vehicle (R-EEV), with the optimization objectives of improving vehicle economy, reducing emissions and extending battery life. First of all, an adaptive two-point energy management strategy (AT-PEMS) based on the auxiliary power unit (APU) optimal curve is designed, and the APU system realizes power following in the way of constant speed and variable torque. Then, the oil-electricity conversion loss rate, comprehensive exhaust emissions and battery capacity loss rate are selected as the optimization objectives, and the particle swarm optimization algorithm is applied to solve the multi-objective optimization (MOO) problem in AT-PEMS. The simulation results show that under the same solution, the three optimization objectives cannot be optimal. We evaluate the individual with the best comprehensive objective as the final optimization solution. Finally, the paper designs an adaptive parameter optimization module based on fuzzy controller. The test results show that AT-PEMS play a positive role in extending the battery life while ensuring high fuel economy and low emissions.

Study on optimal scheduling strategy of electric vehicles clusters in distribution power grid

In order to reduce the negative impact of disorderly charging of electric vehicles on the power grid, this article uses an improved particle swarm optimization algorithm to optimize the electric vehicle charging model. With full consideration of various constraints, load variance, load peak-valley difference, and the charging cost of electric vehicle users are taken as optimization targets. The simulation results show that the orderly charging control strategy proposed in this article realizes the peak-shaving and valley-filling of the grid, reduces load fluctuations, improves the performance of the grid, and improves the safety and reliability of grid operation. The method proposed in this article provides a reference for electric vehicle charging scheduling.

Cloud storage system can play an important role in large-scale, and it supports high-performance cloud applications. To cloud storage systems, data migration is key technology to realize the nodes dynamically extensible and elastic load balancing. How to reduce migration cost of time is the problem that cloud service providers need to solve. Existing research efforts were focused on the data migration issues under the non-virtualized environments, which often do not applicable to cloud storage systems. In response to these challenges, we put data migration issues into the loadbalancing scenarios to solve. We propose an algorithm based on particle swarm optimization algorithm which can reduces the cost of time. In the experiment, we can use Yahoo services benchmarking YCSB tool which could verify the validity of the method. It is a test framework designed to help users understand the different cloud computing, database performance.

Novel Methods for Improved Particle Swarm Optimization in Designing the Bandgap Reference Circuit

Bandgap reference (BGR) circuits play a crucial role as voltage reference generators for other components within a variety of analog integrated circuits. Therefore, their power supply rejection ratio (PSRR), which represents the BGR's ability to maintain a stable output in the presence of supply ripples, has a substantial impact on the overall circuit performance and is consequently worthy of attention. In this work, the design of a 65nm-CMOS BGR circuit and the computational approach to optimize its PSRR value are presented. Our proposed BGR circuit incorporates a modification in the op-amp structure to enhance the PSRR parameter. Detailed explanations of the proposed op-amp's differential gain calculation and the PSRR parameter formula are provided. Additionally, we employ the particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithm to maximize PSRR while satisfying other specifications. Four distinct approaches for utilizing the inertia weight parameter of the pso algorithm are explored: two newly developed techniques (pso - local exploitation orienter (pso-LEO) and pso - global exploration orienter (pso-GEO)) together with two conventional approaches. A comprehensive comparative analysis reveals the superiority of our proposed pso-GEO technique. Ultimately, our 65 nm CMOS bandgap circuit exhibits exceptional performance, featuring a temperature coefficient of 6.4056 ppm/degrees C and a PSRR of 99.9896 dB at 1 kHz. In conclusion, this work contributes substantially through op-amp architecture modification, PSRR optimization via the pso algorithm, and introducing new inertia weight parameter utilization strategies and analyzing them.

Ultra-broadband absorber based on metamaterial resonators utilizing particle swarm optimization algorithm

In this paper, we propose an ultra-broadband metamaterial absorber optimized by the particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithm. A unit cell of the absorber is made of TiN/TiO2/TiN square disks, offering a metalinsulator-metal (MIM) configuration, surrounded by a TiN square ring resonator which all are located on a thin stack of TiO2/TiN films. The optimized structure shows high average absorption of 91.63% over the wavelength range of 200-4500 nm. The over 90% absorption bandwidth is 1590 nm, extended from 200 nm to 1790 nm. Furthermore, the absorber absorbs more than 80% of the incident light with wavelengths from 200 nm to 4480 nm, which covers the ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared regions. The absorber indicates high absorptivity of over 75% under an oblique incidence up to 60 degrees for both TM and TE polarizations. The effect of the presence of the square ring resonators as well as each layer of the MIM on the absorption of the absorber is also studied. It is shown that the use of square ring resonators combined with square disks significantly enhances the absorption of the absorber at wavelengths longer than 1100 nm. The structure has high thermal and chemical stability due to the use of TiN and TiO2. Owing to the outstanding features of the proposed absorber, it can be used in different fields such as imaging, thermal emitting, and solar applications.
