Investigation of structural and electrical properties of ITO thin films and correlation to optical parameters extracted using novel method based on pso algorithm

Thermally annealed DC sputtered indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films were investigated for improvement in properties. The structural and optoelectronic characteristics of as-grown and air annealed films were studied and correlated to the film deposition time. Raman spectroscopy analysis showed low crystalline quality films for as-grown films and were significantly improved after annealing. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the crystallinity of samples with (222) preferential orientation. The 30-min ITO films showed a peak at (400). The films optical study shows an increased transmittance (in the transparency region) with decreasing deposition time, yielding a high transparency of 90% for the 5-and 15-min ITO films annealed at 400 degrees C. The films thickness and optical constants were determined from optical transmission only without interference fringe using a novel method based on particle swarm optimization (pso) algo-rithm. The absorption coefficient and calculated refractive index decreased with increasing deposition time and their value reduced further after annealing treatment. The 30-min ITO films showed a comparable low resistivity of 4 9 10-3 X cm before and after annealing as determined by Hall effect measurements. This observation confirms their non-sensitivity to the oxygen post-contamination that resulted from (400) orientation. A shift of the absorption edge towards shorter wavelengths accompanied with an increase in the optical bandgap before and after annealing with decreasing thickness were observed. We have demonstrated that the optical parameters such as the optical gap depend mainly on the electrical parameters such as the carrier concentration.

Customized mutated pso algorithm of isolation enhancement for printed MIMO antenna with ISM band applications

Scattering parameters of a quad-port MIMO antenna with 120 x 180 x 1.6 mm3 dimensions for ISM band applications are enhanced in three phases in the MATLAB simulator utilizing an innovative proposed metaheuristic optimization algorithm. In the first phase, physical dimensions of a simple structure printed monopole antenna are tuned to create a strong resonance at 2.45 GHz using the proposed pso algorithm. In the second phase, the designed antenna is used to establish a dual-port MIMO antenna with 120 x 90 x 1.6 mm(3) dimensions, and a decoupling element is located and tuned using the proposed algorithm to make strong isolation between the radiant elements. Finally, another decoupling element is placed and adjusted utilizing the recommended algorithm to obtain substantial isolation between the radiant patches of the quad-port MIMO antenna. The developed algorithm uses new scenarios to avoid trapping at the local minima and approaching the global minima with higher velocity rates than the conventional pso algorithm. Experimental results confirm-56.41 dB resonance at the 2.45 GHz frequency with 0.6 dBi measured peak gain. Also, proposed dual-and quad-port MIMO antennas can provide isolation better than-65.54 and -36.89 dB between the antenna ports, which are at least-15 dB better than conventional pso algorithm results.

Grid aided combined heat and power generation system for rural village in north China plain using improved pso algorithm

The rural areas of North China Plain, an important grain producer in China, are endowed with abundant new energy resources such as biomass, solar, and wind energy. The revitalization of the rural villages is confronted with the shortage of clean and low carbon energy supply. This work proposes a multi -energy complementary distributed energy system (DES) tailored for daily energy consumption in a typical scattered village on the basis of the field survey results. The geothermal heat pump, photovoltaic system (PV), biomass gasification equipment, and other energy conversion devices are integrated in the DES model. The state grid is used as a fundamental ensuring resource to improve the robustness of the system. The improved particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithm is employed to determine the optimal unit capacity configuration by examining investment cost, payback period, system self-sufficiency, accommodation rate, and annual CO2 emissions. The main available renewable energy resources are biomass and solar energy with the annual amount of 1608.9 tons and 1679 kW h/m2. The heat, gas, and electricity load account for 76.84%, 3.14%, and 20.02%, respectively. Based on the daily peak -to -valley price differentials in Beijing of over $0.15/kWh, DES optimization was carried out with pso module in MATLAB software. The cost of the energy supply with DES, Scenario 3, was compared with that of the mere grid and renewable systems, Scenario 1 and Scenario 2. The direct DES cost is $0.52 million with the internal rate of return of 8.46%, resulting in a payback period of 6.15 years. The overall system self-sufficiency index except for grid achieved a value of 0.42. The application of the DES lead to energy costs of residents and annual carbon emission reduction by 32.5% and more than 3800 tons, respectively, compared to grid -only energy consumption, showcasing the feasibility of grid -aided combined heat and electricity production in rural areas.

A Modified pso algorithm for IIR Digital Filter Modeling

Modeling for an unknown plant is a very important and primary task in the control system engineering. By using this established model, an adequate controller can be further designed to meet certain control specifications. This paper will propose a new modeling method which is based on the infinite impulse response (IIR) digita filter structure. A modified particle swarm optimization (pso) with multiple subpopulations is utilized to solve for the IIR filter coefficients to model an unknown digital system. The developed pso algorithm is able to overcome the multimodal error surface problem that often occurs in the system modeling of IIR digital filter. Finally, three different kinds of digital systems are examined to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method, including the same system order and reduced order structures. It is concluded from several simulation results that the proposed method has an excellent performance on solving the IIR digital modeling problem.

Optimization of terahertz fingerprint and identification capabilities by using pso algorithm

In the terahertz range, materials are often characterized by a specific spectral response that contains unique resonant frequencies, which allows to detect and identify them very precisely. In this work, we have developed a new efficient calculating model that can be applied to identify the resonance frequencies of the material using terahertz time-domaine spectroscopy measurements in transmission mode. Furthermore, the pso optimization algorithm is an extremely powerful tool that, once associated with our model, allowed us to quickly and accurately extract the optical characteristics of the material such as the absorption and the refractive index of the material. The performances of the proposed technique are very relevant particularly in the case of important noise.

A New Tree-Level Multi-Objective Forest Harvest Model (MO-pso): Integrating Neighborhood Indices and pso algorithm to Improve the Optimization Effect of Spatial Structure

Accurate, efficient, impersonal harvesting models play a very important role in optimizing stand spatial structural and guiding forest harvest practices. However, existing studies mainly focus on the single-objective optimization and evaluation of forest at the stand- or landscape-level, lacking considerations of tree-level neighborhood interactions. Therefore, the study explored the combination of the pso algorithm and neighborhood indices to construct a tree-level multi-objective forest harvest model (MO-pso) covering multi-dimensional spatial characteristics of stands. Taking five natural secondary forest plots and thirty simulated plots as the study area, the MO-pso was used to simulate and evaluate the process of thinning operations. The results showed that the MO-pso model was superior to the basic pso model (pso) and random thinning model Monte Carlo-based (RD-TH), DBH dominance (DOMI), uniform angle (ANGL), and species mingling (MING) were better than those before thinning. The multi-dimensional stand spatial structure index (L-index) increased by 1.0%similar to 11.3%, indicating that the forest planning model (MO-pso) could significantly improve the spatial distribution pattern, increase the tree species mixing, and reduce the degree of stand competition. In addition, under the four thinning intensities of 0% (T1), 15% (T2), 30% (T3), and 45% (T4), L-index increased and T2 was the optimal thinning intensity from the perspective of stand spatial structure overall optimization. The study explored the effect of thinning on forest spatial structure by constructing a multi-objective harvesting model, which can help to make reasonable and scientific forest management decisions under the concept of multi-objective forest management.

Design and Optimization of Dual-Band Energy-Efficient OOK UWB Transmitter Via pso algorithm

A CMOS ON-OFF-keying 3-10.6-GHz transmitter with low power consumption and low complexity used to Impulse Radio Ultra-Wide Band (IR-UWB) communication system is presented in this work. This architecture is designed and optimized via particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithm. The IR-UWB transmitter is adapted to generate a high bandwidth frequency and it has a band switching capability. It consists of a switching inductance-capacitance voltage-controlled oscillator (LC VCO), a pulse generator circuit, an injection-locked frequency divider (ILFD) circuit, a buffer and an antenna. The VCO is switched ON/OFF by the pulse signal produced by a generator circuit which is realized through synchronizing the received data by a clock signal. The used technique for transmitting a discontinuous signal is based on a complementary switch-mode ON-OFF LC VCO, whose main advantage is to reduce power consumption. In this work, a best agreement between the results of the optimization technique and those of the simulation is obtained. The simulated results illustrate a signal of pulse width of 2.5 ns and a pulse repetition rate (PRR) of 200 MHz. The output spectra are centered at 4-GHz and 8-GHz frequencies with 1,332-MHz and 1,350-MHz bandwidths, respectively. The peak-to-peak amplitude of a UWB signal output is 154 mV. The IRUWB transmitter power consumption is 11.4mW which corresponds to the consumption energy of 28.5 pJ/pulse @ 200 MHz. The power spectral densities (PSDs) of the output signals of both circuits viz. ON-OFF LC VCO and ILFD are less than -41.3dBm/MHz, which agreed well with the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) regulation. The transmitter design is well implemented using a TSMC 0.18-mu m CMOS process technology in an Advanced Design System (ADS).

The multilayer structure design of magnetic-carbon composite for ultra-broadband microwave absorption via pso algorithm

In this work, the multilayer magnetic-carbon composites were precisely constructed by the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm to achieve an ultra-broadband electromagnetic wave absorbing (EMA) performance. Composite with different content of magnetic Fe3S4 hollow microspheres and carbon nanotubes were prepared as absorbing fillers to obtain four basic monolayer EMA materials. Based on their different electromagnetic parameters, various multilayer structures were designed and further simulated via the finite element method. In a series of designed EMA materials with intense absorption and broad bandwidth, a 2-layer model with 3.8 mm thickness was selected as an optimal structure, owning to its excellent simulation EMA property with a minimum reflection loss of -40 dB and an extended qualified bandwidth value of 11.7 GHz. According to the designed structural parameters, the 2-layer composite was successfully prepared and the measured results were in good agreement with the simulated properties, confirming the accuracy of the multilayer optimization. The FEM simulation analysis revealed that the high EMA performance of the multilayer composites is attributed to the enhancement of the electromagnetic loss capability as well as the improvement of broadband impedance matching between the material surface and air. To remove the noise of signal and improve the signal-to-noise ratio, we present a lifting wavelet de-noising method With flexible dual-threshold based on pso algorithm. We use the lifting wavelet instead of traditional wavelet to decompose the in order to improve the operation speed. We use the quantization function by flexible dual-threshold to quantify the detail coefficients. By doing this, We preferably retained the fine features of the signal, while preventing the signal oscillation. pso algorithm is used to optimize the dual-threshold, in order to get the optimal threshold value, to improve the signal-to-noise ratio. The simulation and experimental results show that this new de-noising method can effectively suppress the noise, and get a higher signal-to-noise ratio and faster processing speed compared to the traditional denoising method.
