Enhancement of heat transfer of confined enclosures with free convection using blocks with pso algorithm

In this paper, optimal shape of cavity with change of hot walls geometry is obtained using pso algorithm. In this method near domain of hot wall is divided into similar blocks as those can either be solid or fluid. Free convection is dominant in the cavity. Continuity, momentum and energy equations are discretized by finite volume method. These equations are solved by SIMPLER algorithm. pso algorithm is used for obtaining diffusion parameters near the hot walls. Diffusion coefficients obtained from pso algorithm (non-dimensional parameters for diffusion terms in momentum and energy equations) are replaced in governing equations such a way that average Nusselt number from cold wall to be maximized. The results are obtained for range of Rayleigh numbers and different boundary conditions. Results show that psoA is able to obtain size and location of changes in hot walls. These changes can increase heat transfer from cold wall between 13% and 40% for different boundary conditions. If hot and cold walls are near together, millimeter changes are enough for acceptable percent value of increase of heat transfer, but for cases that hot wall is far from cold wall, we must attach medium or large blocks on hot wall or construct new cavities in accordance with optimized shape obtained from pso algorithm. In view of characteristics of particle swarm optimization ( pso ) algorithm of fast convergence but easily falling into local optimum value , a novel improved particle swarm optimization algorithm is put forward , and it is applicable to identify parameters of hydraulic pressure system model in strip rolling *** order to maintain population diversity and enhance global optimization capability , the algorithm is firstly improved by means of decreasing its inertia weight linearly from the maximum to the minimum and then combined with chaotic characteristics of ergodicity , randomness and sensitivity to initial *** the improved algorithm is used to identify parameters of hydraulic pressure system , the comparison of simulation curves and measured curves indicates that the identification results are reliable and close to actual situation.A new method was provided for hydraulic AGC system model identification.

This paper proposes a robust H-infinity control method for three-phase PWM rectifier. Based on the mathematical model of the PWM rectifier, the state equations which include outside interference are established for the standard setup I-I. control problem with suitable weighting functions. The robust H-infinity controller can be derived by solving the Riccati inequality. An improved pso algorithm is proposed in this paper by bringing the ideas of SA algorithm and chaotic search into the pso algorithm. And it is used to optimize the parameters of proposed controller. Simulation and experiment results verify that the designed robust H-infinity controller has a better external disturbance rejection capability compared with the conventional PI controller. And the improved pso algorithm has ability to determine the parameters effectively for the proposed controller.

Optimal tuning of FOPID controller based on pso algorithm with reference model for a single conical tank system

The fractional order proportional integral derivative controller (FOPID) replaces the conventional PID controller for its immense merits such as its simple structure, better set point tracking, high disturbance rejection, higher capability of handling model uncertainties in nonlinear and real time applications. This paper addresses the effectiveness of the FOPID controller on a level control of single conical system in real time. It is one of the classical nonlinear control problem and its shape not only contributes the proper mixing of liquids and also guarantee to drainage of solid wastes. This study, a dual loop controller is proposed and constructed with a master process and slave process for a level control of a single conical tank system. In the slave process, the output response obtained by the traditional PID controller combined with the conical tank reference model and compared with the output response of the master process. The obtained error signal is used to dynamically correct the parameters of the FOPID controller in the master process. The tuning of FOPID controller is a challenging task due to its presence of extra parameters and it efficiently carried out by particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithm. The obtained result reveals that the Proposed pso optimized FOPID controller with reference model demonstrated the better set point tracking, smooth controller response than other conventional integer order controllers.

In view of the problem of seepage safety and the character of dangerous reservoir earth dam, the 3D seepage of FEM back analysis was studied. Based on a reservoir project, the rationality of prototype observation data in recent years is analyzed, and the effective monitoring point and its observation data are selected for back analysis. The simulation calculation model is built, and the permeability coefficient of key materials and seepage characteristics of calculation area of earth dam are obtained after using particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithm as the inversion algorithm and using FEM as the seepage field algorithm method of improved nodal virtual flux. The results shows that the pso, which has high efficiency with back analyzing the permeability coefficient of materials in the dam and satisfactory accuracy, can meet the requirements of engineering, and a large seepage gradient in overflow point and boundary of earth dam, which is unfavorable for dam seepage stability, is produced when the problem of contact erosion is also existed in connection part of earth dam section and masonry dam section.

Optimum design of tuned mass damper via pso algorithm for the passive control of forced oscillations in power transmission lines

Transmission lines are prone to external excitations due to their low density and internal damping coefficient. They are vulnerable to some natural events such as wind and rain which may disrupt power transmission. Forced vibration due to external disturbances is one of the most frequent causes of failures in these lines. In this study, effects of tuned-massdampers (TMDs) on reduction of forced vibrations are investigated. A mathematical model for the transmission line is proposed by using mode summation technique combined with the dynamics of the absorbers. Best values for the location, stiffness and mass of the absorbers are found by using Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm (damping coefficients are obtained as zero). The objective of the algorithm is to minimize the line deflection to postpone the failure and the replacement of the lines. Results show that the designed TMDs are efficient in reduction of forced vibrations. Finally, the same procedure is implemented under resonance condition. The designed TMDs lead to a high reduction factor in the line deflection. Similarly, the proposed optimization algorithm can be used in other industrial applications of the flexible cables;under various external excitations.

The particle of the pso algorithm is lack of particle diversity, and this makes itself fall into the local extremum, which leads to the premature. Based on a large number of experimental analysis, this paper indicated that the reason that lead to the lack of the pso algorithm's particle diversity is that pso algorithm's rapid convergence and the small probability of the particle speed divergence. According to this, this paper comes up with an algorithm that extend the random factor named Rpso algorithm from (0, 1) to (-1, 1), which makes the particle velocity has divergence probability and then increases the diversity of the particle speed and so that increase the ability to get rid of the local extremum. We made two emulation experiments about multiple extremum constrained optimization problems, experimental results show that, this algorithm is very possible to jump out of the extremum, and effective to avoid the premature convergence, the result after optimizing is obviously better than before it.

With the advent of the grid, task scheduling in heterogeneous environments becomes more and more important. The model of grid scheduling is analyzed in this paper. The optimal objective is to minimize the total completing time. This paper presents an improved particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithm with discrete coding rule for grid scheduling problem. The improved pso algorithm can keep all the advantages of the standard pso, such as implementation simplicity, low computational burden, and few control parameters, etc. A set of experiments show that the algorithm is stable and presents low variability. The preliminary results obtained in this research are auspicious. We also tested the improved pso algorithm against the MaxMin heuristic and found that improved pso outperforms MaxMin by the total makespan and other performance.

A new solution for the construction of 3D Runway based on pso algorithm and Unity 3D game engine is presented in this paper. Compared with the traditional runway construction, this solution can build rich scene interface with less scene resources by the application of pso algorithm and the construction of Unity3D engine. Experiment has proved that the scheme can generate the scene reasonably which has highly entertainment value. It can realize the random and regular patterns of the scene. The scheme has proved that it can optimize the scene loading process and improve the users' experience.
