In view of the existing polygonal approximation algorithm of digital curves can't effectively solve the problem of polygonal approximation constrained by the offset direction, this paper proposes an algorithm of polygonal approximation constrained by the offset direction. First, the offset polygon of the original digital curve is calculated under the control of offset direction and distance. Second, the summation of the squared Euclidean distances between the vertices on the offset polygon and its corresponding segment in the approximated polygon is selected as the fitness function. Finally, under the control of the offset distance and fitness function, this paper implements a pso-based polygonal approximation algorithm to approximate the offset polygon. Experiments show that the proposed method can not only satisfy the polygonal approximation with directional requirements, but also can greatly improve the operating efficiency.

The association Rule Mining (ARM) is a data mining task that extracts relations between items based on the item's frequency. The ARM regards items with high frequency as more interesting than items with low frequency. In quantitative datasets, each item will be grouped into a large range of values. Therefore, items with low frequencies may not be considered as interesting. Hence, the possibility of extracting potentially interesting relations between these items will decrease. Thus, this deficiency brings a challenging issue to this field. Most of the existing methods for quantitative ARM in handling this problem are based on the Sharp Boundary Discretization methods and Clustering methods. These methods group each item into intervals with crisp boundaries which do not overlap. They bring some problems as well, such as ignoring or emphasizing more on values near the boundary of intervals. To deal with the problem of quantitative ARM, the combination of S and Z fuzzy shapes, which is combined with the Particle Swarm Optimization (pso) is proposed in this paper to generate appropriate membership functions for each item. Fuzzy logic will group items into overlapping intervals and then, the fuzzy rules will be generated from the interesting items. The performances of the proposed methods are evaluated over Bilkent datasets and then, are compared with the results of clustering method (Fuzzy C-Means) in aspect of their capability to transform data to fuzzy data and then their efficiency are evaluated based on the quality of their generated rules. The results show the efficiency of the proposed method to extract the rules with more quality.

This paper studies a brachiation robot that is a long armed locomotion similar to apes. The robot has 2 revolute joints but only one of them is actuated. In this paper, after deriving dynamic model of the robot the Controlled Lagrangian (CL) method is used for stabilization. The matching conditions satisfied for the controller are derived and the extended lambda-method is used to solve PDE's involved in the method of controlled lagrangian. Satisfactory controller's gains are chosen by pso algorithm. Finally, feasibility of the developed controller is investigated by numerical simulations.

This paper researches the alliance generation algorithm with emotional factors on the basis of multiple robots pursuit-evader problem. Firstly, this paper constructs an emotional model for pursuit robots: we not only apply the basic emotion method to the emotional expression, but also simulate the process of emotional transfer with Hidden Markov Model (HMM). Secondly, we determine the cooperation intention according to the robots' emotional factors, so that we can prevent the robots with the negative emotions from involving in the mission in case of a negative impact on the alliance. Then, we introduce the subgroup size on the foundation of particle swarm optimization (pso) to avoid the premature convergence problem, thus the algorithm can obtain the maximum profit in a relatively short period of time. Finally, we bring in the dynamic redistribution mechanism for a better pursuit efficiency.

This paper addresses the problem of reactive power control of distributed generation (DG) units in the medium voltage (MV) distribution systems in order to maintain the system voltages within the predefined limits. It is formulated as an optimization problem which aims to minimize the reactive power changes of DG units while returning the voltage of the violated buses inside the permitted limits with taking into account the available reactive power capacity of DGs. Moreover, the thermal limit of the system branches is considered. A new load flow algorithm is used here for evaluating the system voltages. This load flow algorithm with a simple theory uses the topological structure of the network. Also, a new voltage sensitivity analysis method is presented in this paper which is also based on the topological structure of the network and independent of the network operating points. Therefore, the voltage sensitivity matrix is built simultaneously with the load flow program. The optimal reactive power changes are obtained by implementing particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithm. Simulation results reveal that the proposed algorithm is capable of keeping the system voltages and currents within the permitted limits.

The extraction of solar energy will be higher using the multijunction solar cells instead of single junction solar cell by splitting the solar spectrum. This work proposes a detailed study to identify the optimum interconnection method for various multijunction solar cells. An effective power electronic circuit could substantially enhance the efficiency and utilization of a photovoltaic (PV) power system constructed from multijunction solar cells. The multiple input dc-dc non-inverting buck-boost converter is used to demonstrate the advantage of the proposed interconnection technique, which can maintain a constant output voltage by performing both the buck and boost mode of operation. In order to ensure maximum power point (MPP) operation, a particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithm is applied which needs only one MPP control for multiple solar modules resulting reduction in cost and complexity. The pso algorithm has the ability to track the global maxima of the system even under complex illumination situations.

in this paper, a new improved Particle Swarm Optimization (pso) combined with Chaotic Cellular Automata (CCA) has been proposed. pso is sensitive to initial conditions and values like other stochastic search algorithms. In the proposed method, features of chaotic Pseudo Random Number Generator (PRNG) are used to move particles in the problem space. This factor leads to the appropriate random behavior of particles in the space that is capable of high exploitation ability and also changes in the coefficient inertia w with big steps moving from converging prematurely and falling in local minimum. In the proposed method, by combining small steps by CCA, that has high exploitation ability and with a large step changes in the coefficient inertia w the high exploration ability leading to balance in the random behavior of the algorithms. Proposed method display good performance for searching the problem space compared with other algorithms.

This study is performed to find out a main equipment maintenance strategy for distribution networks having the minimum risk assessment function as their objective function. In order to relate proper maintenance to the risk assessment function, first, the conflict between scheduled maintenance and condition maintenance is described to provide basis for further determination of the maintenance risk assessment function. Then, the function expression for risk assessment of distribution networks is presented, and constraints on the objective function designed using the safety-resource-maintenance relation to improve the optimization model. Finally, a pso-based solution to the optimization model is presented. Empirical data are used to validate the operability of the algorithm, and the results derived under three different scenarios confirm that our integrated risk assessment model is highly superior over others and can provide theoretical reference for the scientific maintenance strategy optimization of China's distribution networks.

Video applications are extremely important due to the overwhelming number of applications in the future wireless networks. The frequent bursty interference caused by the dense base stations poses a major challenge to improve quality of experience (QoE) for video application. In this paper, we propose a novel interference management schemes termed dynamic interference shaping method(DISM), in which the peak rate of best effort service is decreased by introduce the rate scaling factor(RSF) to improve the QoE for video applications. First, the cellular interference traffic is analyzed and modeled. The interference characteristics of multi-services are investigated and the QoE perception models are presented. Also we develop the utility function and utilize the particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithm to obtain the optimal RSF. Experiment has demonstrated the proposed algorithm significantly improves the QoE for video users with the negligible decrease in QoE for best effort users.
