It has become acceptable practice to use only a limit on the number of fitness function evaluations (FEs) as a stopping condition when comparing population-based optimization algorithms, irrespective of the initial number of candidate solutions. This practice has been advocated in a number of competitions to compare the performance of population-based algorithms, and has been used in many articles that contain empirical comparisons of algorithms. This paper advocates the opinion that this practice does not result in fair comparisons, and provides an abundance of empirical evidence to support this claim. Empirical results are obtained from application of a standard global best particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithm with different swarm sizes under the same FE computational limit, on a large benchmark suite.

In order to improve the mathematical model's accuracy of the electro-hydraulic servo loading system from the high-speed motorized spindle reliability test bench. This paper establishes the mathematical model based on the dynamic characteristics of the test bench, then establishes discrete mathematical model of the system based on the Z-transform, and finally uses particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithm to identify the parameters of the discrete model. Additionally, the least square method is applied to identify the parameters of the model for measuring the pso algorithm parameter identification capability in our paper. The experimental results show that the mathematical model, identified by the pso algorithm, can simulate the loading process very well under the strong interference signals, and the result is better than that gotten by the least square method, which proves that the pso algorithm has high identification accuracy and better capability in parameters identification.

We consider an output based adaptive iterative learning control (AILC) for robotic systems with repetitive tasks in this paper. Since the joint velocities are not measurable, a sliding window of measurements and an averaging filter approach are used to design the AILC. Besides, the particle swarm optimization (pso) is used to adjust the learning gains in the learning process to improve the learning performance. Finally, a Lyapunov like analysis is applied to show that the norm of output tracking error will asymptotically converge to a tunable residual set as iteration goes to infinity.

The particle swarm optimization algorithm was improved in this paper, a novel self-adaption dynamic sub-swarms hybrid particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed, in this algorithm, subgroup partition method based on dynamic clustering of particle adaptive value is adopted to divide particle group to different capability sub-group, then execute different optimize strategy to different subgroup, simultaneity, inertial weight and accelerating coefficient are adaptive set, through contacting adjustment of parameter with sub-group capability, the particle mode method and intersect and aberrance strategy of double deck are designed, The experimental results show that the algorithm has simple programming, good robust capability and strong optimizing capability which established the foundation of task planning of multi-UAV Cooperative.
