a parallel model is given to forecast killer residence and place of crime. According to the circle cover method, we derive normal distribution of perpetrators radius, and forecast the center coordinates of the greatest probability of offender accommodation. The parallel Markov model is formulated by using transition probability of two adjacent sites of crime commitment. After respectively calculating, we obtain the various probabilities of locations of the next crime and get their targets area. The results of example show our method can be used in practice to predict killer residence and place of next crime.

PARS: A parallel model for scaled processing of complex events

The need for fast processing of high volume of event streams has triggered the deployment of parallel processing models and techniques for complex event processing. It is however hard to parallelize stateful operators, making the implementations of distributed complex event processing systems very challenging. A well-defined parallel processing model is a pre-requisite to the implementation of any high performance distributed complex event processing system. Most recent works use partition key or shared memory for parallelizing stateful operators but suffer from imbalanced distribution of keys and slow access time to shared memory. This paper proposes a new parallel model called PARS using three partitioning techniques to allow scalable processing of complex events without using partition key or shared memory. We define PARS formally and use this formalism to prove its soundness and completeness. To present a proof-of-concept and evaluate PARS, we use an event generator to simulate event sources and show significant improvement in system scalability. Compared to other works, we experience 10%-20% higher throughput in our experimental results. Our experiments demonstrate processing speeds of up to 5,200,000 complex event detection per second on a multi-machine cluster. (C) 2019 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

With regards to the nonlinear time-delay systems, d-step-ahead predictive model of neural network predictive control is adopted. This paper realizes the RTRL (real time recurrent learning) algorithm of parallel model of neural network predictive control for nonlinear time-delay systems for the first time. It describes advantages of RTRL algorithm of parallel model, compared with BP algorithm of series-parallel model. Simulation verified that RTRL algorithm of parallel model is better than BP algorithm of series-parallel model in performance and in disturbance rejection.

This paper investigates the relationship of parallel model and series model for permanent magnet synchronous motor taking iron loss into account. The expressions of flux linkage, terminal voltage, and electromagnetic torque are compared. It follows from the investigation that the parallel and series models are mathematically the same. In addition, the properties of the models are exhibited. The parallel model is superior in understanding the physical meaning to the series model. The series model is superior in low order of the state variables to the parallel model.

Rapid Response in an Uncertain Environment: Study of COVID-19 Scientific Research Under the parallel model

Purpose: The rapid response of COVID-19 scientific research played a significant role in pandemic prevention and control but failed to block the spread of the pandemic rapidly. Besides the complexity of the virus, the effectiveness of control and prevention measures, and other factors, the adaptation of the mode of conducting scientific research is also crucial for the prevention and control of COVID19. In this study, a parallel model was used to explore the effects of the rapid scientific response on COVID-19 to assess why pandemics continue to spread under rapid response. Analysis: This study presents the response of scientific research based on country/region and publication dimensions after analyzing COVID-19 studies in the Web of Science and PubMed databases. Co-occurrence analysis of items was used to determine the generation rate of COVID-19 research under different topics to identify the reflected innovation model. Results: More manifestations on rapid response of COVID-19 research, especially compared with the linear model of SARS research, showed that the COVID-19 research followed a parallel or concurrent innovation model. Conclusion: Early multi-stakeholder partnership, convenient information sharing, and improved research competence promote the parallel model in COVID-19. Meanwhile, the uncertainty of the COVID-19 virus and the adverse effect of rapid response may limit the time efficiency of the parallel model. In conclusion, the rapid prevention and control of the pandemic cannot fully rely on scientific research but requires more combined effort under an uncertain global setting.

Sample size determination for the parallel model in a survey with sensitive questions

Recently, a new non-randomized parallel design is proposed by Tian (2013) for surveys with sensitive topics. However, the sample size formulae associated with testing hypotheses for the parallel model are not yet available. As a crucial component in surveys, the sample size formulae with the parallel design are developed in this paper by using the power analysis method for both the one- and two-sample problems. We consider both the one- and two-sample problems. The asymptotic power functions and the corresponding sample size formulae for both the one- and two-sided tests based on the large-sample normal approximation are derived. The performance is assessed through comparing the asymptotic power with the exact power and reporting the ratio of the sample sizes with the parallel model and the design of direct questioning. We numerically compare the sample sizes needed for the parallel design with those required for the crosswise and triangular models. Two theoretical justifications are also provided. An example from a survey on 'sexual practices' in San Francisco, Las Vegas and Portland is used to illustrate the proposed methods. (C) 2013 The Korean Statistical Society. Published by Elsevier B.V. On the multi-GPU cluster platform, it is difficult to use the full compute power of the GPUs. One of the reasons is that the traditional parallel models based on the homogeneous platform is not suitable to the heterogeneous platform. We research and develop the GPU-centered parallel model to control the GPUs using more fine granularity. This model decreases the idle time of the GPUs introduced by the work load unbalance significantly. Our experiments show that this model can achieve higher performance than the traditional node-centered parallel model for some real applications. The efficiency of the LINPACK benchmark using GPU-centered parallel model is 5.34% higher than the node-centered parallel model.

The real-time processing based on embedded system will enhance the application capability of stereo imaging for LiDAR and hyperspectral sensor. The task partitioning and scheduling strategies for embedded multiprocessor system starts relatively late, compared with that for PC computer. In this paper, aimed at embedded multi-core processing platform, a parallel model for stereo imaging is studied and verified. After analyzing the computing amount, throughout capacity and buffering requirements, a two-stage pipeline parallel model based on message transmission is established. This model can be applied to fast stereo imaging for airborne sensors with various characteristics. To demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the parallel model, a parallel software was designed using test flight data, based on the 8-core DSP processor TMS320C6678. The results indicate that the design performed well in workload distribution and had a speed-up ratio up to 6.4.

Human detection based on the multi-scale covariance descriptor outperforms many other antecedent descriptors. However, it has the disadvantage of being highly time consuming. The complexity of this type of application intensifies the need of multiprocessor architecture (MPSOC) to meet real time constraints. A well-balanced application model is necessary for an efficient implementation into MPSOC architecture. In this paper, a high-level independent target-architecture parallelization approach is used to propose an optimized parallel model of a multi-scale covariance human detection system. The main characteristic of this approach is the exploration of both task and data levels of parallelism. For this end, an initial model is proposed. This model is implemented and validated at a high level interface. The potential bottlenecks of this model are identified using communication and computation workload analysis. Based on this analysis, an optimized parallel model with maximum workload balance is provided. Results reveal that the obtained parallel model has more than four times lower execution time in comparison with the sequential model.

IPSec protocol provides security services for network layer of OSI model. With information security becomes acute, its efficiency and security need to be improved. In this paper, we propose a parallel model for IPSec protocol framework based on Pi-calculus, analysing the part that can be paralleled in running process of the protocol and using Pi-calculus to describe message delivery. Then we use Pict, which is a programming language based on Pi-calculus, to implement and verify that compared to serial model, this parallel model gets obvious improvement on both running time and memory using.
