We consider the parametric Uncapacitated Facility Location Problem (UFLP) where the demand of each customer is allowed to vary over a certain interval. Despite the value of parametric analysis, no such efforts are found for the UFLP, that mainly seems to be due to the fact that parametric analysis usually requires the computation of a number of UFLP's with heavy computational burden. In this paper, we will show that the special structure of the UFLP provides a nice property for its parametric version, based on which an efficient branch and bound procedure for the parametric analysis is developed.

Security and energy efficiency are two critical metrics in many multiuser networks (e.g. M2M networks, sensor networks and ad hoc networks). In this paper, we try to maximize secure energy efficiency (SEE) by allocating power for those User Equipments (UEs) meeting the security transmission requirements, where SEE is defined as the ratio of the total secrecy throughput to the total transmission power in the whole network. Concretely, we propose an efficient algorithm which uses the parametric programming and Difference of Convex (DC) function to solve the optimization problem (i.e. maximize secure energy efficiency). Finally, we compare the secure energy efficiency of our scheme with that of fixed power allocation schemes and show the results through simulations at different system conditions.

Sensitivity analysis of an efficient DMU in DEA model with variable returns to scale (VRS)

In this paper we consider the Variable Returns to Scale (VRS) Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model. In a DEA model each Decision Making Unit (DMU) is classified either as efficient or inefficient. Changes in inputs or outputs of any DMU can alter its classification, i.e. an efficient DMU can become inefficient and vice versa. The goal of this paper is to assess changes in inputs and outputs of an extreme efficient DMU that will not alter its efficiency status, thus obtaining the region of efficiency for that DMU. Namely, a DMU will remain efficient if and only if after applying changes this DMU stays in that region. The representation of this region is done using an iterative procedure. In the first step an extended DEA model, whereby a DMU under evaluation is excluded from the reference set, is used. In the iterative part of the procedure, by using the obtained optimal simplex tableau we apply parametric programming, thus moving from one facet to the adjacent one. At the end of the procedure we obtain the complete region of efficiency for a DMU under consideration.

In order to grasp the force performance and stress distribution of shaped pylon steel anchor box under the action of the cable tension, with a main span of 555m length of three towers cable-stayed and self-anchored suspension combined system bridge as the engineering background, through the ANSYS APDL command stream parametric programming, the different finite element models of pylon steel anchor box is established by the spatial solid element and shell element, the mechanical properties of cable-pylon anchorage zone were studied under the most unfavorable load combination, considering the stress state and distribution characteristics of steel anchor box under different orthodontic force. The results showed that, under the most unfavorable combination of loads, the stress was concentrated at the position of the anchor plate and pressure plate using the initial strain mode;the calculation results of solid element and shell element were consistent by uniform loading mode, which could reflect the real stress state of steel anchor box, but the shell element corner contact area prone to stress calculation distortion. The results provide the basis for the design and have some design reference value for the design of the same type bridge.

parametric representation has become a standard form in product design, graphics design, computer-aided geometric design as well as machining. Stamping, forging and extrusion dies and tools, rolling shapes, turbine blade profile, air craft and automobile body, ship hull, etc is designed in CAD and uses parametric curves to define the shapes. Past few decades have witnessed formulations of many novel mathematical representations of free form curves aspiring to make them more computers compatible. Parameterization of a curve have availed some important advantages of being bounded in parameter range, independent of coordinate system over implicit representation as well as part family and coding in Group Technology (GT). parametric programming also referred to as macro programming being a critical feature in GT and Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP) is a powerful but less explored feature of the CNC technology. Machining using parametric programming is judged against the CAM system for program length, machining time and accuracy through Coordinate Measuring Machine results. Few Bezier curve profiles have been constructed, by joining of which gives tangent continuity throughout the curve for the purpose of machining and their CNC and parametric programs have been discussed. The results found for the same geometry, work material and cutting parameters are discussed in the paper in detail. (C) 2014 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

The problem of synthesizing stochastic explicit model predictive control policies is known to be quickly intractable even for systems of modest complexity when using classical control-theoretic methods. To address this challenge, we present a scalable alternative called stochastic parametric differentiable predictive control (SP-DPC) for unsupervised learning of neural control policies governing stochastic linear systems subject to nonlinear chance constraints. SP-DPC is formulated as a deterministic approximation to the stochastic parametric constrained optimal control problem. This formulation allows us to directly compute the policy gradients via automatic differentiation of the problem's value function, evaluated over sampled parameters and uncertainties. In particular, the computed expectation of the SP-DPC problem's value function is backpropagated through the closed-loop system rollouts parametrized by a known nominal system dynamics model and neural control policy which allows for direct model-based policy optimization. We demonstrate the computational efficiency and scalability of the proposed policy optimization algorithm in three numerical examples, including systems with a large number of states or subject to nonlinear constraints. Reliability and performance assessment for fuzzy multi-state elements

A system consisting of a single multi-state element (MSE) with performance rates and transition intensities presented as fuzzy values is considered. In many cases it is very difficult to evaluate the performance rates and transition intensities of MSEs in a multi-state system with a precise value, because of lack, inaccuracy, or fluctuation of data, especially in continuously degrading elements that are usually simplified to an MSE for computational convenience. Fuzzy theory which is a useful methodology to overcome these deficiencies is used to establish reliability models of an MSE. Given the fuzzy transition intensities and performance rates, the state probabilities of an MSE are also fuzzy values. A fuzzy continuous-time Markov model with finite discrete states is proposed to assess the dynamic reliability corresponding to working time. A fuzzy Markov reward model is also introduced to evaluate the dynamic fuzzy performance. In order to obtain the membership functions of the fuzzy reliability and performance, parametric programming technique is employed according to the extension principle. In this paper, the existing approach for fuzzy MSE availability assessment is modified and extended. Stability in disjunctive linear optimization i: Continuity of the feasible set

The aim of this paper is to study the continuous dependence of the feasible set of a disjunctive semi-infinite linear optimization problem on all involved parameters (matrix and right-hand side). The feasible set of such an optimization problem is the union of (a. possible infinite number of) convex sets, which each is described by a finite or an infinite number of strict and non-strict linear inequalities. We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the upper- and lower-semi-continuity, and the closedness of the feasible-set-mappingZEspecially, the compactness of the boundary of the feasible set and the closedness ofZare equivalent to the upper-semi-continuity ofZwhile the lower semi-continuity ofZis equivalent to a certain constraint qualification. This constraint qualification is a strengthened kind of Slater condition, rrom tuese investigations, we derive known results in parametric semi-infinite optimization and parametric integer programming.
