A pattern matching method for position sensorless control of IPMSM with heavy magnetic saturation in standstill and very low speed region has been proposed. The rotor position is estimated by comparing the feature values measured in a real-time with in beforehand. To measure feature values, high frequency signal must be injected. The operation region of pattern matching method is limited by amplitude of injectable signal. This paper presents the operating region that could utilize pattern matching method. Also to expand the operating region, a new signal injection method and matching method are proposed. By using the proposed method, the same sampling time interval for measuring feature values could be obtained even smaller signal is injected.

The microwave detection technology has become an effective tool for monitoring highway traffic flow in China. The cross section traffic data collected provides models opportunity for travel time prediction. However, the sparseness of data somewhat constrains the prediction accuracy. To tackle this problem, the paper presents a highway travel time prediction algorithm based on pattern matching method. First, a pattern library is established by choosing traffic volume and speed as its certain state components and time as its uncertain state component. Then, the space-time two-dimensional linear interpolation method is used to calculate the mean speed and subsequently the travel time. Finally, similar patterns are obtained using K Nearest Neighbor approach and predicted travel time is calculated by the Weighted Average method. The case study shows that the pattern matching method for travel time prediction based on microwave detection data produces sufficient accuracy, which solves the problem of sparse detectors effectively.

A new diagnosis method using alarm annunciation for nuclear power plants

We discuss the methodology diversity for diagnosis reasoning in an autonomous operation system, and propose a new diagnosis method using an alarm annunciation system. The combination of annunciated alarms is expected to be peculiar to the anomalous phenomenon or accident. Moreover, as the state of affairs is developing, each appearance of the pattern is changing with time peculiarly to each anomaly or accident. The matter is utilized for the new diagnosis method. The patterns of annunciated alarms with progress of the events are prepared in advance under the condition of the anomalies or accidents by use of a plant simulator. The diagnostic reasoning can be done by comparing the obtained combination of annunciated alarms with the reference templates by using pattern matching method. On the other hand, we have another method, called COBWEB used for conceptual classification in cognitive science, to reason for diagnosis. We have carried out the experiments using the loop type LMFBR plant simulator to obtain the various combinations of annunciated alarms with progress of the events under the conditions of anomalies and accidents. The examined cases were related to the anomalies and accidents in the water/steam system of the LMFBR power plant. The simulation examination shelved that each change of the pattern of annunciated alarms is specific to each anomaly or accident, and we have applied the pattern matching technique and COBWEB methods into the diagnostic reasoning using annunciated alarms. We could show the capability of these two methods to reason and focus among various candidates of causes of anomalies with gradually improved conviction degree as time passes from the occurrence of anomalies. It was also confirmed that these methods are effective in diagnosis reasoning as a way the operators are doing the diagnosis reasoning in existing plants.

AI-Based Self-Learning System in Distributed Structural Health Monitoring and Control

Artificial intelligence is predicted to play a big part in self-learning, industrial automation that will negotiate the bandwidth of structural health and control systems. The industrial structural health and control system based on discrete sensors possesses insufficient spatial coverage of sensing information, while the distributed condition monitoring has been mainly studied at the sensor level, relatively few studies have been conducted at the artificial intelligence level. This paper presents an innovative method for distributed structural health and control systems based on artificial intelligence. The structural condition was divided into regional and local features, the feature extraction and characterization are performed separately. Structural abnormality recognition and risk factor calculation method were proposed by considering the response values and the distribution patterns of both the regional and the local structural behaviours. The test results show that the method can effectively identify the full-scale and local damage of the structure, respectively. Subsequently, structural safety assessment method for long-span structures at kilometres level in view of fully length strain distributions measured by distributed fiber optic sensors were developed. A series of load tests on the long-span structure were carried out. Finite element (FE) model was developed using finite element code, ABAQUS, and an extensive parametric study was conduct to explore the effect of load cases on the structural responses. The differences in the structural response results among load test, structural safety assessment and FE simulation were investigated. It is shown that AI-based self-learning system could offer suitable speed in deployment, reliability in solution and flexibility to adjust in distributed structural health monitoring and control.

Clustering method to process signals from a CdZnTe detector

The poor mobility of holes in a compound semiconductor detector results in the imperfect collection of the primary charge deposited in the detector. Furthermore the fluctuation of the charge loss efficiency due to the change in the hole collection path length seriously degrades the energy resolution of the detector. Since the charge collection efficiency varies with the signal waveform, we can expect the improvement of the energy resolution through a proper waveform signal processing method. We developed a new digital signal processing technique, a clustering method which derives typical patterns containing the information on the real situation inside a detector from measured signals. The obtained typical patterns for the detector are then used for the pattern matching method. Measured signals are classified through analyzing the practical waveform variation due to the charge trapping, the electric field and the crystal defect etc. Signals with similar shape are placed into the same cluster. For each cluster we calculate an average waveform as a reference pattern. Using these reference patterns obtained from all the clusters, we can classify other measured signal waveforms from the same detector. Then signals are independently processed according to the classified category and form corresponding spectra. Finally these spectra are merged into one spectrum by multiplying normalization coefficients. The effectiveness of this method was verified with a CdZnTe detector of 2 mm thick and a Cs-137 gamma-ray source. The obtained energy resolution was improved to about 8 keV (FWHM). Because the clustering method is only related to the measured waveforms, it can be applied to any type and size of detectors and compatible with any type of filtering methods.

Deep Flexion-Oriented Bisurface-Type Knee Joint and Its Tibial Rotation That Attributes Its High Performance of Flexion

In 1989, we developed an artificial knee prosthesis that could accommodate the oriental lifestyle where people would sit more often on the floor than on a chair. The knee had a bisurface feature with an auxiliary joint of a ball and socket at the center of the posterior part aiming at an improved flexional function. The auxiliary joint functions not only to facilitate a rollback movement but also to add a rotational movement. It was investigated whether this knee prosthesis could show an internal rotation of the tibia during flexion such as the physiologic movement of the knee. The internal rotation of the tibia was evaluated for the patients who could sit on legs in the oriental style after total knee arthroplasty. The average flexion angle of patients who achieved this style of sitting was 144.1 degrees, and the average internal rotation was estimated as 14.3 degrees by a pattern matching method using a computer-assisted design system.

Research on the Construction method of Rice Knowledge Graph

With the development of technologies such as the IoT and remote sensing and their wide application in the agricultural field, resulting in large-scale agricultural data, how to organize and utilize agricultural big data effectively has become a key problem to be solved. This article studies the knowledge graph representation method of agricultural data in rice. First of all, using crawler and government open data to obtain data in rice. Secondly of all, classification and processing according to data characteristics: Structured data calls D2R for RDF mode conversion;Unstructured data uses semantic dictionary to build templates, define rules to extract entities and their attribute values, and extract nontaxonomic relationships from texts based on pattern matching method. Finally, with the participation and guidance of expert in rice, the knowledge complement and correction are carried out to complete the construction of the rice knowledge graph. In order to verify the method in this paper, we build a knowledge query system based on rice knowledge graph, construct query examples, and analyze the experimental results. The verification results show that the knowledge graph constructed by the method in this paper can effectively improve the accuracy of domain knowledge query.

Value-added services, especially in mobile environments, have recently become the key component of making more profit and attracting more subscribers. One of the most commonly used such service is location-based advertiser services. The main issue which should be considered in providing such services is determining the position of the mobile terminals precisely. In this paper, one pattern recognition localisation method based on the signal strength appropriated for implementing a location-based service is presented. The main aim is to introduce some practical solutions to decrease error and computational load and also eliminate the necessity of updating the database. Practical results illustrate high accuracy of this technique and its suitability to apply in such services. The mean error declines to 9.7 m and mean error corresponding to CDF = 67% and CDF = 95% are less than 11 m and 23 m, respectively. We also present a location-based advertising service, in which the customers interests and local time are considered,in order to enhance the efficiency and individualism of this service.
