A Sustainable Supply Chain Design for personalized customization in Industry 5.0 Era

Purpose: This research aims to present a distributed localized manufacturing (DLM)-based personalized customization Supply Chain (PCSC) model with facility siting, with the objective of enhancing the sustainability level of PCSCs within the context of Industry 5.0. Design/methodology/approach: To accomplish the objectives, a DLM-based PCSC model is constructed, and the supply chain is optimized using a P-Median model with genetic algorithm. Furthermore, a hybrid simulation model, combining agent-based modeling and discrete event simulation, is employed to analyze and gather data on sustainable metrics. Findings: The implementation of the DLM-based PCSC model yields improvements in supply chain efficiency through cost reduction, risk mitigation, and enhanced responsiveness. By leveraging the decentralized manufacturing approach of DLM, organizations can minimize transportation distances, optimize resource utilization, and strengthen coordination among geographically dispersed facilities. Consequently, sustainability and overall performance within the supply chain are enhanced. Practical implications: This study offers valuable recommendations for stakeholders and managers, including the adoption of distributed local manufacturing, optimization of facility locations, and the integration of sustainability metrics analysis into decision-making processes. These measures contribute to the improvement of supply chain sustainability and performance. Originality/value: This article makes a significant contribution to the field by proposing a DLM-based PCSC model that incorporates facility siting. The employment of a hybrid simulation model presents an integrated approach to assessing supply chains. In addition, it expands the measurement of sustainability metrics and provides insights to enhance the sustainability and efficiency of PCSCs.

In the era of the internet, people are increasingly interested in highly personalized customization, which has been leading the global industry to transform from "Enterprise centered Mass Manufacturing" to "User centered Mass customization". In recent decades, ontology-based semantic models have been used for semantic association description and syntax consistency alignment of product structures. However, the description of industrial terminology and general concepts has difficulty achieving accurate end-to-end matching of personalized user customization requirements and manufacturing capabilities. This requires detailed descriptions of process standards, component/assembly/part specifications, etc. Therefore, we propose the Abstraction-Instance-Capability (AIC) model based on a knowledge graph, which is a multigrained and multiview industrial knowledge model. By modeling industrial knowledge at a deeper level from various perspectives and by considering the expression of the relationships between knowledge, an industrial knowledge graph was constructed to support personalized customization. This graph can be used for personalized customization plan generation and other related operations, such as Design BOM (Bill of Materials) modification and verification. First, a meta-object facility (MOF)-based meta-model is defined for AIC model design. Second, the proposed model is used to define a multiview structure for modeling knowledge from various perspectives. Such a design realizes efficient industrial knowledge retrieval from various aspects, such as manufacturing resource retrieval, and production capacity analysis. Finally, in this paper we validate operability and introduce two case studies to demonstrate that the model has good performance in the recommendation of components (BOM modification) and the verification of personalized customization schemes (BOM verification).

To solve the problems of inefficient learning caused by the complexity, fragmentation and lack of personalization of traditional handicraft learning resources. Based on the method of pattern configuration extraction and reuse, this paper takes the innovative design of Canton Porcelain pattern as an example. For the first time, sorting the knowledge of Cantonese Porcelain according to different cultural attributes (labels), to establish the knowledge base and pattern sample base of Canton Porcelain, and build a semantic relationship between the them, recommend Cantonese Porcelain elements that meet users' needs through semantic search. Then, shape context was used to extract patterns of Cantonese Porcelain, and topological methods was combined to establish the configuration rules of patterns. Shape grammar based on character encoding were improved in the process of generation of personalized customization patterns of Cantonese Porcelain, used to describe the transformation of shapes during pattern filling, thereby generation of personalized customization patterns of Cantonese Porcelain based on element extraction will be completed. Develop a personalized customization system for Cantonese Porcelain crafts, and tests the method feasible through an application example.

User Experience of the Mobile Terminal customization System: The Influence of Interface Design and Educational Background on personalized customization

The study verified the role that different interface designs and users' educational backgrounds play in the task performance and subjective evaluation of mobile terminal customization system. Interface type (based on scroll, alternative, and attribute) and user group (college students and industrial workers) were employed as the variables. A total of 72 users were included in the study, and an analysis of 3 x 2 between-participants design indicated that (1) Different interface designs of customization systems had a significant difference in task performance, the alternative based interface had the best results in the task performance, and there was no significant difference between the attribute-based and scroll-based interfaces in task performance;(2) The matching between educational background and interface type will affect the users' evaluation on system usability. Industrial workers thought that the scroll-based and alternative-based interfaces were more useable, while college students preferred attribute-based interface design;(3) Different interfaces had a significant difference in user task load. The scroll-based interface had the lowest mental demand on the users, while alternative-based had the lowest physical demand on the users, though it consumed more effort;(4) Different educational backgrounds had a significant difference in user task load. Industrial workers showed lower effort in the scroll-based and alternative-based interfaces, while college students had lower effort in the attribution-based interface;(5) A correlation analysis showed that there was a significant negative correlation between the system usability score and the effort in task load. This study results have a positive significance for interface design. With educational background and layout as two important factors in our interface design, we may obtain the most appropriate design principles for enhancing the online customization experiences of different groups of consumers.
