For anti-full polarization active jamming, a new polarization signal processing technology is proposed in this paper. The single polarization active jamming can be identified by polarimetric radar, but the full polarization active jamming is effective to deceive polarimetric radar. Therefore, the new detection technology is necessary to be adopted against full polarization active jamming. The purpose of the paper is to present a new method for anti-full polarization active jamming. The polarization coding technology, as a new method used in polarimetric radar, is proposed and a new polarization demodulation method by included angle of polarization state between transmitter signal and echo signal on the Poincare polarization Sphere is given in the paper.

Extended experimental verification of the recently introduced high performance sun blocking filter (SBF) design is reported. The SBF is based on a high optical quality sapphire substrate coated on both sides with multilayers including an induced transparency metal layer, protecting satellite based laser communication terminals (LCTs) telescopes against solar irradiation while simultaneously providing high transmission on the used laser wavelength at 1064.55 nm. Low earth orbit (LEO) satellite based long range LCT offer a potential solution for the highest possible data link rates and availability. Laser transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX) units require a special beam expander telescope optics. The performance of the optics can be deteriorated by the stray light and extreme thermal load conditions caused by direct sun illumination in space. Transmitted wavefront performance is a key requirement for the SBF since the total wavefront budget determines the LCTs link budget. The transmitted wavefront error (TWE) of the SBF is investigated with respect to the coating uniformity. Besides the TWE the contribution of birefringent SBF substrate to the polarization extinction budget has been experimentally verified. polarization extinction enables polarization coding between TX and RX radiation inside the LCT receiver unit. The interferometric measurements and setups of the transmitted wavefront of the SBF in dependence on substrate temperature are presented.

An optical scheme for polarization encoding BB84 protocol is described. Fiber electro-optical LiNbO3 phase modulators based on Pockels cells provide both polarization states generation for Alice and basis choosing for Bob at high frequency, requiring low operation voltages (V-pi < 5V). Proposed scheme uses only one laser source, which guarantee the indistinguishability of the pulses and active basis choosing allows the system to have two single photon detectors in contrast to the four in the standard polarization encoding schemes. Two phase modulators compensate each others' polarization mode dispersion, caused by the natural birefringence of the lithium niobate crystal. The system consists of standard components and has simple configuration. The principle of operation is experimentally demonstrated.

The associative memory of the two-dimensional (2-D) Hopfield model described in terms of inner product is realized by using a multiimaging hybrid system and an incoherent correlation hybrid system, respectively. A new method, in which polarization coding and half wave plate are employed, is proposed to encode the bipolar data in memory masks. Four 8 x 8 images are used in our experiment, and the experimental results agree well with the numerical simulations. On the basis of this, we also present the inner-product expression of the modified Hopfield model for the heteroassociative memory which can be implemented in the same system described for autoassociation, as long as the first memory mask is changed and the thresholds in the feedback are adjusted accordingly.

A method that can generate all kinds of nonorthogonal polarization states is induced for long distance and high bit rate generation quantum key distribution. The polarization states are synthesized by two linearly polarization states controlled by phase modulator. The modulator is allowed to produced non-quarter-wave phase delay so that can compensate the influence of birefringence during transmission through the fiber. The structures of the encoder and the decoder based on the method are also described that can effectively reduce the bit error rate.
