In this paper, the politicaloptimization (PO) algorithm is applied to coordinate the directional overcurrent relays (DOCRs). Optimal coordination of DOCRs that used for protecting electrical networks is a nonlinear constrained optimization problem. The PO algorithm is duplicating five main phases of politics from the population which is divided into parties and constituencies until updating their position depending on the party leader addition to the constituency winner. The primary target of this paper is to apply PO algorithm to coordinate DOCRs to minimize the total uptime utilized in four test systems including eight-Bus, nine-Bus, and fifteen-Bus systems. The results of the proposed algorithm have been contrasted with other well-known algorithms. This article focuses on minimizing product costs by using the newly developed political optimization algorithm (POA), the Archimedes 'optimizationalgorithm (AOA), and the Levy flight algorithm (LFA) in product development processes. Three structural optimization methods, size optimization, shape optimization, and topology optimization, are extensively applied to create inexpensive structures and render designs efficient. Using size, shape, and topology optimization in an integrated way, It is possible to obtain the most efficient structures in industry. The political optimization algorithm (POA) is a metaheuristic algorithm that can be used to solve many optimization problems. This study investigates the search capability and computational efficiency of POA for optimizing vehicle structures. By examining the results obtained, we prove the apparent superiority of the POA to other recent famous metaheuristics such as the Archimedes optimizationalgorithm and the Levy flight algorithm. The most important result of this paperwill be to provide an impressive aid for industrial companies to fill the gaps in their product design stages.

Multi-area economic dispatch (MAED) incorporating renewable energy has become an important issue in the power system optimization. Existing intelligent optimizationalgorithms often suffer from poor solution accuracy or slow convergence when dealing with MAED problems. In this paper, a novel derivative searchbased politicaloptimization (DSPO) algorithm is proposed to handle the MAED problem incorporating renewable energy including wind and solar energy. In the renewable energy modeling, the Weibull and lognormal probability density functions are used to calculate available wind and solar power respectively. In order to improve the search performance, DSPO adopts two strategies: leader guide strategy and derivative search mechanism. The former adds the leader's global optimal information which can direct candidate solutions to more promising regions and speed up convergence. The latter derives neighborhood solutions around some high-quality solutions to improve the exploitation ability. The DSPO algorithm is applied to solve four MAED problems which take into account valve point effect, prohibited operating zone, power loss and so on. The simulation results show that the DSPO algorithm achieves the overall best results in terms of convergence speed, solution accuracy and stability when compared with several well-established algorithms.
