The fractional Fourier transform as a powerful signal analysis and processing technique, the studies on using it for image registration are very rewarding and promising. This paper focuses on the medical image registration in the domain of fractional Fourier transform. The powell algorithm is implemented to optimize the parameters by evaluating the minimum MSE between the magnitude of images. Two kinds of fractional Fourier transform are used to construct the algorithms. And they are tested on two sets of medica images and the experimental results were compared and analyzed. In view of the wide use of the “Gaussian distribution hypothesis of noise” in geophysical inversion problems, we study the non-Gaussian distribution characteristics of the noise in pre-stack seismic data. Upon this analysis, the concept of non-Gaussian inversion of pre-stack three-term inversion is put forward, in which the mixed-norm is proposed for suppressing both the Gaussian and non-Gaussian noises. In view of the non-derivable feature of the objective function, the powell algorithm is used to solve the objective function. Model test and real seismic data inversion results show the correctness and reliability of the algorithm.

Device model and its parameters extraction are one of the most important parts of the electronic design automation(EDA) eras. The increasing complexity of silicon on insulator(SOI) MOS device compact model poses a great challenge to extract model parameters because SOIMOS device is restricted by the SOI material and the complex physical mechanisms. Currently, the model parameters extraction is performed mainly through commercial software. The application of commercial software is confined because they are usually very expensive and their mechanism is too complex. An adaptive parallel hybrid genetic algorithm combining with powell algorithm is designed and implemented from SOI MOS devices characteristics consideration. The novel method can extract device DC parameters in only one time efficiently. It is convenient to apply the simple method to other complex parameter extraction fields.

Genetic algorithm is easy to fall into premature and powell algorithm depends on the initial value, according to the characteristics of these two algorithms, in this paper, we combined the two optimization algorithms, the optimal parameter solution which is obtained by genetic algorithm is used as the initial value in powell algorithm, and then powell algorithm is used to obtain global optimization parameter solution. In the process of optimizing, the maximum gradient of mutual information is used for measuring the similarity between the two registered images. The experiment shows that the registration algorithm proposed in this paper can do more effectively and more accurately work than the optimizing algorithm based on mutual information and genetic algorithm. And the registration accuracy could achieve sub-pixel.

A fast blind beamforming algorithm based on the powell algorithm for maximization of the array output power was presented. Through detecting the array output, the conjugate searching directions for the optimum weight were determined. The phase of each element was shifted thus a beam was formed towards the desired user. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm enhances the stability of beamforming and immensely reduces the computational load compared with available methods in literatures. Furthermore, it leads to a better beampattem with fewer requirements on the convergence criteria. The round of iterations and multiplications by this method is approximately 10% of the relevant methods.

The distribution network planning is formulated as a multi-objective mathematical optimization problems, this paper uses investment cost, loss of network, reliability and the environmental effect and so on as multi-objective functions to establishment mathematics model. The traditional of Particle Swarm Optimization for multi-objective optimization can not solve this problem. Through the fuzzy optimized algorithm and the rough set method to determine the link between the objective functions in the paper, so as to obtain the relative important weighting factors attribute to various objectives. And then the pursuit of multi-objective optimization transforms to seek the optimal level of satisfaction of the overall goals. It avoids the difficulties about the different dimensions of the goal transform into the same goal. The improvement of PSO algorithm and the powell optimization algorithm are used to optimize distribution network planning, then that overcomes insufficient for precocious restraining using alone PSO, increases the development ability of algorithm, and sharpens the partial optimization ability. The example shows that the method is feasible and effective.

The medical image registration method based on mutual information (MI) has the advantage of high precision, and not have to do any pretreatment. However, there may be local matches, or error brings by interpolation calculation, so the objective function contains many local maximums. In this paper, a novel image registration method, called Gravity Optimization (GO), is proposed for rigid registration of brain medical images, and compares the performance with powell algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The experiments of the 2D and 3D rigid registration of clinical brain images show that gravity optimization algorithm has a better performance at the rate of registration and global optimization.

The powell algorithm had been integrated into GA. powell had the effectivecapacity of solving the local optimal solution. powell and the cross as a method ofchoice, a variation of the parallel operator, can be a better solution to the prematureconvergence of the GA problem.
