The fractional Fourier transform as a powerful signal analysis and processing technique, the studies on using it for image registration are very rewarding and promising. This paper focuses on the medical image registration in the domain of fractional Fourier transform. The powell algorithm is implemented to optimize the parameters by evaluating the minimum MSE between the magnitude of images. Two kinds of fractional Fourier transform are used to construct the algorithms. And they are tested on two sets of medica images and the experimental results were compared and analyzed. Information from the many kinds of spectroscopy used by chemists and physicists is fundamental to our understanding of the structure of materials. Numerical techniques have an important role to play in the augmentation of the instrumentation and technology available in the laboratory, but are frequently viewed as separate from the laboratory procedures. We describe an integrated PC-based approach for obtaining directly the parameter estimates of transition types in piezo-spectroscopic measurements of crystalline materials. Typically, the analyses in question are required to handle complex secular matrices, to distinguish between components in the experimental results, and to identify the transition types as rapidly and as efficiently as possible. The method described, based on providing a discrete shell to the powell algorithm, is shown to give both accurate identification of the transition type in the case, of new data and improved fits (i.e. reduction in residual variation) when compared with results obtained via standard procedures. In addition it is flexible with respect to the language used and possesses a high degree of portability. We illustrate the success of the approach using (i) data previously reported on the solution of a trigonal defect which includes both mixing of states and spin orbit interactions and (ii) new data obtained for a defect related to beryllium impurities in silicon.

Optimal pricing of drinking water based on the average household income using a system dynamics approach

Proper planning, management of water resources, and improvement and development of management methods of water and sewerage network are essential for sustainable use of available water resources and prevention of economic losses of the Water and Sewerage Company. In this research, the water and sewerage network of Hamedan was simulated using a system dynamics approach. The model's accuracy in determining the benefit-cost ratio was evaluated. Based on the financial results, for the benefit-cost ratio, the values of root-mean-square error (RMSE), standard error (SE), and determination coefficient (R2) were calculated as 0.01, 0.03, and 0.993, respectively. According to the results, the developed model in this research has high accuracy in simulating the company's financial balance. The optimal drinking water price in different scenarios was determined using the powell optimization algorithm to improve the economic balance of the Water and Sewerage Company. As long as the per capita consumption of low-income, medium-income, and high-income households is 138, 203, and 268 L/day, respectively, we have no water shortage, and the benefit-cost ratio is improving. The company's financial balance can be increased by determining the optimal drinking water price according to the income of urban households. In addition, the level of social welfare can be increased by increasing the renovation rate of pipes.

The distribution network planning is formulated as a multi-objective mathematical optimization problems, this paper uses investment cost, loss of network, reliability and the environmental effect and so on as multi-objective functions to establishment mathematics model. The traditional of Particle Swarm Optimization for multi-objective optimization can not solve this problem. Through the fuzzy optimized algorithm and the rough set method to determine the link between the objective functions in the paper, so as to obtain the relative important weighting factors attribute to various objectives. And then the pursuit of multi-objective optimization transforms to seek the optimal level of satisfaction of the overall goals. It avoids the difficulties about the different dimensions of the goal transform into the same goal. The improvement of PSO algorithm and the powell optimization algorithm are used to optimize distribution network planning, then that overcomes insufficient for precocious restraining using alone PSO, increases the development ability of algorithm, and sharpens the partial optimization ability. The example shows that the method is feasible and effective.

The medical image registration method based on mutual information (MI) has the advantage of high precision, and not have to do any pretreatment. However, there may be local matches, or error brings by interpolation calculation, so the objective function contains many local maximums. In this paper, a novel image registration method, called Gravity Optimization (GO), is proposed for rigid registration of brain medical images, and compares the performance with powell algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The experiments of the 2D and 3D rigid registration of clinical brain images show that gravity optimization algorithm has a better performance at the rate of registration and global optimization.

Genetic algorithm is easy to fall into premature and powell algorithm depends on the initial value, according to the characteristics of these two algorithms, in this paper, we combined the two optimization algorithms, the optimal parameter solution which is obtained by genetic algorithm is used as the initial value in powell algorithm, and then powell algorithm is used to obtain global optimization parameter solution. In the process of optimizing, the maximum gradient of mutual information is used for measuring the similarity between the two registered images. The experiment shows that the registration algorithm proposed in this paper can do more effectively and more accurately work than the optimizing algorithm based on mutual information and genetic algorithm. And the registration accuracy could achieve sub-pixel.

In order to solve the problem that PI controller has difficulty in parameter setting in PMSM, a PI parameter setting method for PMSM speed control system based on modified pigeon-inspired optimization algorithm is proposed. The algorithm of pigeon-inspired optimization was combined with powell search algorithm, so that the convergence speed was improved by using the direct search characteristic of powell algorithm. The PI controller parameters are taken as the output of the algorithm, and the optimal PI control parameters can be obtained after several iterations. Simulation results show that the PI controller optimized by the modified pigeon-inspired optimization algorithm has good *** proposed method greatly reduces overshoot and shortens response time.

A new heuristic optimization algorithm is proposed in the paper, that is an improved ant colony algorithm for solving continuous space optimization problems. Used genetic algorithm (GA) to optimize the network of ventilation in order toavoid artificial convergence and speed up the convergence rate to introduce the powellalgorithm. The powell algorithm had been integrated into GA. powell had the effectivecapacity of solving the local optimal solution. powell and the cross as a method ofchoice, a variation of the parallel operator, can be a better solution to the prematureconvergence of the GA problem. The two methods will be improved to make it an effective combination of hybrid GA called hybrid genetic algorithm (HGA) for the introductionof mine ventilation network optimization and to be used to solve the problem of regulating mine optimization.

The goal of source localization in the brain is to estimate a set of parameters that can represent the characteristics of the source. One of the parameters is the source number. In order to determine the dipole number with an EEG topography, we use two system identification methods, e.g., the information criterion and F-test methods. Some investigations are presented here to show that the information criterion method is an advanced approach for determining the dipole number with an EEG topography. © 2004 Elsevier B.V.
