R-learning- based team game model for Internet of things quality-of-service control scheme

In modern times, it has been observed that Internet of things technology makes it possible for connecting various smart objects together through the Internet. For the effective Internet of things management, it is necessary to design and develop service models that ensure appropriate level of quality-of-service. Therefore, the design of quality-of-service management schemes has been a hot research issue. In this work, we formulate a new quality-of-service management scheme based on the IoT system power control algorithm. Using the emerging and largely unexplored concept of the Rlearning algorithm and docitive paradigm, system agents can teach other agents how to adjust their power levels while reducing computation complexity and speeding up the learning process. Therefore, our proposed power control approach can provide the ability to practically respond to current Internet of things system conditions and suitable for real wireless communication operations. Finally, we validate the introduced concept and confirm the effectiveness of the proposed scheme in comparison with the existing schemes through extensive simulation analysis.

Optimal power allocation and relay selection for multiple code division multiple access peer-to-peer communication

The authors consider a half-duplex asynchronous code division multiple access cooperative network with N source-destination (SD) pairs and a number of relay nodes where the nodes of all pairs have to exchange data in two hops via assistance of one of the available relays. In this study, they minimise the total transmit power and derive the closed-form solution for choosing the best relay, the best relay gain and the transmit powers of all sources where some predefined signal-to-interference plus noise-ratios (SINRs) are guaranteed. Interestingly, the feasibility condition of the problem depends only on the required SINRs, the number of SD pairs and the maximum cross-correlation of users' codes. They suggest two control procedures for admitting or dropping of users to the network to satisfy the feasibility condition. For a reciprocal environment, the best relay and its gain are proved to remain unchanged for reversing the communication directions. In addition, the authors' power control algorithm can be directly applied to the case of two-hop two-way relaying. Computer simulations are used to demonstrate the system performance.

Many wireless embedded systems must deal with increasingly complex and time-varying workloads. Moreover, real-time constraints must be satisfied. Most of the existing energy management studies for such systems have focused on relatively simple models that assume deterministic workloads and consider a limited range of energy management techniques, including Dynamic Voltage Scaling (DVS). Our paper addresses these deficiencies by proposing a general purpose probabilistic workload model for computation and communication. To account for the importance of radio energy consumption, we also analyse Dynamic Modulation Scaling (DMS), an often overlooked method for energy management. We define several energy control algorithms, including an optimal combined DVS-DMS approach, and evaluate these algorithms under a wide range of workload values and hardware settings. Our results illustrate the benefits of various power control algorithms.

power control algorithms are an important consideration in mobile ad hoc networks since they can improve network capacity and lifetime. Existing power control approaches in ad hoc network basically use deterministic or probabilistic techniques to build network topology that satisfy certain criteria (cost metrics), such as preserving network connectivity, minimizing interference or securing QoS constraints. In this paper, we will provide a survey of the various approaches to deal with power control management in mobile ad-hoc wireless networks. We will classify these approaches into five main approaches: (a) Node-Degree Constrained Approach, (b) Location Information Based Approach, (c) Graph Theory Approach, (d) Game Theory Approach and (e) Multi-Parameter Optimization Approach. We will also focus on an adaptive distributed power management (DISPOW) algorithm as an example of the multi-parameter optimization approach which manages the transmit power of nodes in a wireless ad hoc network to preserve network connectivity and cooperatively reduce interference. We will show that the algorithm in a distributed manner builds a unique stable network topology tailored to its surrounding node density and propagation environment over random topologies in a dynamic mobile wireless channel. Voltage and frequency control of asynchronous generator for stand-alone wind power generation

A synchronous detection-based control algorithm for voltage and frequency control (VFC) of an isolated asynchronous generator (IAG) is proposed for a stand-alone wind energy conversion system (SWECS). A three-legged voltage source converter (VSC) with an isolated star/polygon transformer is used as an integrated VSC. The integrated VSC with a battery energy storage system is used to control the active and reactive powers of the SWECS. The SWECS is modelled and simulated in the MATLAB using the Simulink and the sim power system toolboxes. Test results on the developed prototype of SWECS are also presented to validate the control algorithm. The proposed VFC functions as a voltage and frequency regulator, a load leveller, a load balancer and a harmonics filter in the SWECS.

Wireless infrared optical code-division multiple access (W-OCDMA) is a new developing technique with many useful applications. Noting the limitation on power consumption and eye-safety requirements, wireless optical systems are power limited. Therefore control and efficient use of optical power is a key issue in analysis and design of these systems. Also, multi-user interference is the major source of impairment in these systems and power control is required to control and reduce this interference. power control and the inevitable errors in its algorithms play an important role in design and implementation of these systems. In this article the authors study the uplink performance of W-OCDMA networks employing on-off keying (OOK) and binary pulse position modulation (BPPM) schemes without any power control algorithm. The performance improvement as a result of using perfect power control is calculated. Then, the impact of imperfect power control that is the result of channel estimation error is analysed. The results clearly illustrate that deploying a proper and accurate power control algorithm can increase network capacity and reduce network average power consumption. The authors show that systems with non-ideal power control still perform considerably better than no-power controlled systems.

This paper presents the modeling and analysis of a grid-connected wind energy conversion system (WECS) using PSCAD/EMTDC. The modeled system is characterized and analyzed for validation. An inverter control algorithm for effective power control is also proposed and evaluated, resulting in an efficient active power control that extracts the maximum power from the wind turbine. The controller also controls reactive power for load variation and aerodynamic models are applied for a wind turbine model. All analysis and evaluation have been conducted for a 1MW power system with 22.9kV.

Integrated power and rate control for data applications over CDMA wireless networks

An integrated power and rate control (IPRC) algorithm is proposed. The IPRC algorithm can achieve the pre-specified rate for each user. Simulation results reveal that the IPRC algorithm results in larger throughput than the power control algorithm with outages and the number of iterations can be increased to further increase the throughput.

Closed-loop power control in the reverse link of a DS/CDMA system is analysed. The transmitter/receiver based on IS-95 and the radio propagation channel under mobile communication environments are modelled and a new power control algorithm is proposed. This algorithm utilises the burst error characteristics of the channel and can be directly applied to the current IS-95 system. The new power control algorithm. with respect to the SIR (signal to interference ratio), increases;he service quality, and finally, enhances the system capacity.
