Precoding is a technique employed to enhance transmission rates in various communication systems, including massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and optical wireless communication (OWC). In this study, we focus on network massive MIMO OWC (NM-MIMO-OWC) systems and investigate the precoder design to enhance the sum rate and improve the system performance. We present the network's massive MIMO OWC framework. By utilizing this framework, we are able to calculate the achievable sum rate. Subsequently, we consider the precoding design for maximizing the sum rate while adhering to the total power constraint. To solve this optimization problem, we provide a necessary condition of the optimal solution based on the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions, and propose a low-complexity algorithm to further enhance the efficiency of the proposed precoding technique. The numerical results demonstrate that the proposed precoder design significantly improves the transmission rate and effectively maximizes the sum rate.

Existing research on a simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) system is based on the assumption of Gaussian inputs. However, the optimal design on Gaussian inputs may lead to dramatic performance loss for practical systems with finite-alphabet inputs. This paper focuses on the precoder design for a SWIPT system with finite-alphabet inputs and instantaneous channel state information over a multiple-input multiple-output channel. We formulate the optimal precoder design as an optimization problem, in which the objective is to maximize the mutual information over the channel from the transmitter to the information receiver under the constraints of transmit power and harvested energy threshold. The formulated problem is NP-hard, so a global optimal solution cannot be found within the polynomial time. The main contributions of this paper are as follows: 1) By using its structure, the NP-hard problem is relaxed to a semidefinite programming problem. Then, a general solving framework for both co-located and separated receiver cases, based on the semidefinite relaxation (SDR) technique, is developed to achieve a near optimal precoder. 2) For the case of co-located receivers, we show that the optimal precoder design is a concave problem with respect to power allocation;then, a specific algorithm for co-located receivers is proposed. Compared with the general SDR-based method, the specific algorithm for co-located receivers exhibits almost the same performance but much lower complexity. 3) The performance of several practical co-located receiver designs is analyzed in SWIPT systems with finite-alphabet inputs. Finally, we provide simulation results to show the efficacy of the proposed algorithms.

precoder design for Non-Regenerative MIMO Relay Systems

This paper studies the precoder design for a 3-node non-generative MIMO relay channel, taking the direct link transmission into consideration. We first look into the scenario where precoding is only performed at the relay. Our analytical approach enables a relay precoding design to achieve better ergodic capacity than the precoding design to achieve a lower bound of the capacity reported in earlier works. We next propose an iterative algorithm to perform joint precoding design at both the source and the relay. To reduce the computation complexity of the iterative algorithm, a two-step algorithm is then developed. Our numerical results show that under some circumstances, capacity gain can be achieved by performing precoding at both the source and the relay compared to the case where precoding is performed at the relay only. The efficiency of the proposed two-step algorithm is verified since it achieves roughly identical capacity as the iterative joint precoding scheme.

We consider a MIMO K - user interference channel with finite alphabet signaling, and design an optimal precoder for maximizing the sum mutual information between all transmitter-receiver pairs. Perfect channel knowledge is assumed to be available at all the transmitters, but, decoding of the interfering signals is not done at any receiver. A gradient descent algorithm is employed for maximizing the sum mutual information. Simulation results for the three user interference channel show that when compared to conventional schemes which maximize the signal-to-interference plus noise ratio or minimize the mean squared error, the proposed design achieves a significantly better bit error rate performance. Along with the proposed precoder, the minimum distance detector which decodes the desired signal (while treating interference as colored Gaussian noise with a known covariance) was utilized at all the receivers, in order to get this enhanced performance.

In this letter, the optimal form of the precoding matrix is initially derived to maximize the ergodic capacity between the source and destination with covariance information of the relay-destination link. The elements of the precoding matrix are then determined to maximize the upper bound of the ergodic capacity. The numerical results show that the performance of the proposed scheme is close to that of the full feedback scheme when there is a high correlation at the transmit antennas of the relay.

This paper investigates the problem of designing a code-book with non-uniform power allocation for multimode precoded MIMO schemes (e. g., spatial multiplexing and STBC) with limited feedback in fading channels. The generalized Lloyd algorithm is employed for the design, and two methods with different complexities are addressed for the computation of the centroid which is formulated as an optimization problem. Numerical results show that the proposed design outperforms comparable algorithms which equally allocate the total transmit power to each data stream.

In industrial wireless scenarios,the impulsive noise(IN)incurred by machine running or operation causes a serious influence on the powerlimited industrial wireless *** is challenging to ensure efficient and reliable transmission with quality of service(QoS)guarantee for machinetype communication devices(MTCDs).Considering the IN in the industrial process,this paper establishes the multiuser multiple-input single-output(MU-MISO)orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM)system model,which combines transmitter and receiver *** precoding schemes are designed to improve communication effectiveness at the *** specifically,the precoder design scheme which combines semi-definite relaxation(SDR)with difference-of-two-convex-function(D.C.)iterative algorithm,is developed by utilizing the Dinkelbach method to improve the system *** decrease the computational complexity,we devise the quadratic-based fractional programming(QFP)algorithm,which decouples the variables by using a quadratic transform *** this basis,the IN mitigation scheme is studied to reduce the system error rate(SER)at the *** the goal of improving the reliability of industrial wireless communications,we propose a hybrid nonlinear IN mitigation(HNINM)scheme and then derive its closed-form expression of *** simulation results show that the proposed QFP algorithm achieves superior performance while the HNINM scheme decreases the SER of industrial wireless communications.

precoder design in cognitive radio networks with channel covariance information

In cognitive radio communications, the coexistence of a secondary network is allowed as long as the interference power from the secondary network measured at the primary user (PU) is kept below a given threshold. In this paper, we consider a communication scenario for cognitive radio networks where the channel state information (CSI) between the secondary base station (SBS) and the PU is perfectly known at the SBS transmitter whereas only the covariance information is known for the channel of the SBS-secondary user (SU) link at the SBS transmitter. A closed-form precoder design method is proposed for the purpose of maximizing the upper bound of the expected achievable rate of the SU. Even though the proposed scheme uses only partial CSI of the SBS-SU link, the simulation results show that the expected achievable rate of the proposed scheme approaches to that of a conventional scheme with full CSI as the channel correlation increases. In this paper, we study a multiple-antenna two-way relaying (TWR) cognitive radio (CR) system. A space alignment (SA) technique is adopted by the secondary users (SUs) to avoid interference with the primary users (PUs). We derive the optimal power allocation that maximizes the TWR achievable SU sum-rate while respecting the total power budget and the relay power constraints. We also analyze the case in which the relay is able to optimize its gain matrix structure to enhance the SU sum-rate. In the numerical results, we quantify the sum-rate gain of using the SA in the TWR CR and we show that the SU sum-rate is very limited when the relay power is low or the PU power and its resulting interference are high. In addition, we optimize the relay gain using an iterative algorithm and compare between different relay matrix structures.

This paper studies the design and analysis of large multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems with linear precoding and Krylov subspace receivers. We design precoders that can improve performance with low-rank receivers. We then introduce a tool based on potential theory to analyze the convergence behavior of the mean-squared error (MSE). The effectiveness of the proposed precoder and the superexponential convergence of the MSE are demonstrated(1).
