The predefined -time cooperative output regulation of second -order nonlinear multiagent systems with an unknown exosystem is investigated in this paper. Existing similar work is almost limited to exactly known exosystems, and the upper bound of convergence time for closed -loop systems is difficult to adjust and predict, which may not meet practical needs. In this paper, we first propose a new dynamic compensator called predefined -time distributed observer, which guarantees that each agent estimates the state and parameters about the linear exosystem with unknown system matrix through the general directed communication network within the time set by an explicit parameter. Subsequently, combining the improved dynamic gain control method and the proposed predefined -time distributed observer, a novel distributed dynamic predefined -time control scheme is proposed, which solves the problem of this paper by simplifying the tedious arithmetic process caused by the traditional backstepping method. The final simulation experiments verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Self-Adjusting Prescribed Performance H∞ Trajectory Tracking control for Underactuated Autonomous Underwater Vehicles

A predefined-time H-infinity trajectory tracking control scheme based on self-adjusting prescribed performance functions and dynamic relative threshold event-triggered mechanism is proposed for a five-degree-of-freedom underactuated autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) with unknown external disturbances and actuators saturated. First, a new self-adjusting prescribed performance function is designed to ensure that the tracking errors do not exceed the prescribed bounds and to solve the singularity problem of general prescribed performance control (PPC) due to actuator saturation. Second, a predefined-time H-infinity controller combined with a predefined-time dynamic surface control (DSC) method is proposed to guarantee that system signals converge to the neighborhood of zero in a predefined time without adjusting the control parameters and to improve system robustness to uncertain disturbances. Third, an improved dynamic relative threshold event-triggered method is designed to save the communication resources of an underactuated AUV system. Then, the Lyapunov stability proof indicates that all signals in the closed-loop system are predefined-time bounded, and the trajectory tracking errors can converge to the neighborhood of zero within the set desired time. Finally, the simulations not only demonstrate the performance of the proposed controller-controlled system but also verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Distributed predefined-time economic dispatch based on event-triggered strategy for microgrids under directed graphs

The proliferation of new energy solutions and the enhanced accessibility of distributed power sources have significantly increased the complexity and variability of microgrid structures. Due to inherent limitations in its operational mode, the traditional centralized optimization method falls short in effectively addressing the economic dispatch problem in contemporary microgrids. In this paper, a distributed optimization method is devised to address the economic dispatch problem of microgrids under directed graphs by leveraging the consensus algorithm of multi-agent systems. We define the incremental cost of each microgrid unit as the consensus variable, achieving convergence through a pioneering combination of event-triggered strategy and predefined-time control theory. This approach not only optimizes resource use but also ensures timely and efficient solution convergence, addressing critical gaps in existing methodologies. This approach enables control over the upper bound of convergence time for optimal solutions by directly adjusting time parameters in the controller under the directed graph. Consequently, it achieves coordinated control of the power output in microgrids within a predefined time while reducing the communication resources between nodes with event-triggered mechanism. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified through simulation and analysis.

In the context of different applications demanding fast, secure, and accurate chaotic systems synchronization, this article is concerned with improving the security and timeliness of chaotic synchronization schemes in chaotic secure information transmission. Firstly, we introduce five control laws designed to achieve predefinedtime chaotic synchronization within a master-slave scheme, employing a generalized Lorenz -type systems family as the chaotic model, guaranteeing that the chaotic systems achieve synchronization before a known predefined time. We apply the synchronization scheme in a practical application to validate its performance by implementing a secure communication system for image encryption on Raspberry Pi, using the MQTT protocol for transmission. We present system experimental results and evaluate its performance using diverse metrics, including errors, correlation, variance, and statistical tests like entropy, NPCR, and UACI.

This article investigates the predefined-time consensus for a class of second-order nonlinear multiagent systems via a sliding mode technique. Fuzzy logic systems are utilized to estimate unknown continuous functions. Sliding mode control is employed to address the estimation errors generated by the estimation process and terms caused by unmodeled dynamics. By incorporating hyperbolic tangent functions into the protocol and utilizing their properties, singularity issues are avoided. A predefined-time fuzzy protocol is designed to ensure that the consensus error reaches a small neighborhood near zero within the predefined time. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated through a simulation example.

This paper studies the predefined-time anti-synchronization control problem of unified chaotic systems via event-triggered mechanism. The purpose of this research is to design an anti-synchronization control strategy that enables unified chaotic systems to achieve predefined-time control while saving communication resources. In the process of designing control strategy, the event-triggered mechanism is employed to design controller to minimize the communication burden. The adaptive backstepping control method is applied to approximate the uncertain parameter of the considered systems and the piecewise function is introduced to avoid the singularity problem. With the help of predefined-time control theoretics, two event-based adaptive predefined- time controllers are designed that can achieve anti-synchronization of unified chaotic systems. Unlike existing researches on unified chaotic systems, this paper can achieve precise control of convergence time by utilizing predefined-time control theory. Ultimately, simulation results can verify the validity of the suggested control method.

Hierarchical Regulation Strategy for Smoothing Tie-Line Power Fluctuations in Grid-Connected Microgrids With Battery Storage Aggregators

The high penetration of renewable energy in grid-connected microgrids creates the tie-line power fluctuations, which can increase operating costs and even pose security and stability risks. Yet, we continue to lack efficient tools to smooth the tie-line power fluctuations within the context of microgrids. In this article, a hierarchical regulation strategy is proposed for smoothing the fluctuations of tie-line power flow in grid-connected microgrids equipped with battery storage units (BSUs), where the BSUs are aggregated into several battery storage aggregators (BSAs) to facilitate the management. This strategy comprises two layers: an upper layer employs a multiple-horizon predictive optimization-based approach to compute the required power allocation for each BSA, ensuring smoothed power trajectories while adhering to system constraints. Subsequently, a lower layer employs a distributed fast tracking-based technique to distribute the allocated power among BSUs within each BSA using predefined-time control theory. Case studies validate the effectiveness of our approach.

predefined-time Precise Tracking of Uncertain MIMO Nonlinear Systems With time-Varying Input Delay

This paper investigates the adaptive predefined-time (PT) precise tracking control for uncertain nonlinear multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems with time-varying input delay. Precise tracking in uncertain MIMO nonlinear systems is particularly challenging, especially when uncertainties include unknown control directions, nonlinear functions, and external disturbances. This paper extends the existing methods that typically require specific controllability conditions by proposing a novel PT precise tracking control scheme for more general MIMO strict-feedback nonlinear systems. This approach introduces an L-K functional containing positive definite time-varying function matrices, combines bounded estimation techniques with the backstepping method, and incorporates auxiliary signals to compensate for the effects of time-varying input delay. The proposed scheme ensures the boundedness of all closed-loop system signals and provides a rigorous proof that the auxiliary signals are also bounded, while guaranteeing that the tracking error converges to origin within the predefined time. Finally, the proposed PT control scheme is verified by two numerical simulation examples.

This paper studies predefined-time leader-follower consensus issue for second-order multi-agent system (MAS) with communication noises over digraph. Crosstalk resistant adaptive noise canceller is utilized to filter out communication noise. Next, with the filtered states received from its neighbors, a prescribed-time distributed observer is first proposed, which requires no global information and provides prescribed-time leader's states estimation under noisy communication environment and directed communication graph. Then, an adaptive predefined-time control strategy is presented to counteract the mismatched disturbance caused by estimation error and achieve practical predefined-time leader-follower output consensus of the studied MAS. Lyapunov stability analysis proves that the developed distributed observer achieves prescribed-time convergence and the developed tracking controller achieves predefined-time convergence. Finally, the developed control strategy is applied to consensus tracking of networked single-link robotic manipulators and simulation results show its effectiveness.

Most current adaptive neural control strategies for switched nonlinear systems, both finite-time and fixed-time, are limited by a conservatively estimated settling time. Besides, the convergence accuracy of these methods is only bounded but unknown and uncertain. This study proposes a neural adaptive prescribed-time control method to solve such a problem. Specifically, a critical design step is that the practical prescribed-time control problem is converted into a practical stabilization problem by developing a new singularity-avoidance error-dependent scalar transformation. Guided by this idea, an adaptive neural prescribed-time controller is constructed, ensuring prescribed transient behavior and all tracking errors to achieve preset accuracy within the prescribed time simultaneously. Furthermore, by utilizing extended multiple Lyapunov functions, a new mode-dependent average dwell time condition is derived to ensure that all signals in the controlled system remain bounded. Finally, simulations demonstrate the feasibility of the developed scheme.
