PFC based PID design using genetic algorithm for chamber pressure in a coke furnace

This paper proposes a genetic algorithm (GA) optimization based PID controller design using non-minimal state space model. This strategy is inspired by the lack of analytical tuning guideline of weighting matrices for state space model based controller design. The strategy consists of two steps. First, a PID controller is designed using a non-minimal state space model through predictive functional control optimization. Then the weighting matrices in the controller design are optimized through GA to achieve the desired closed-loop control performance. The performance of the proposed method is tested on the chamber pressure of an industrial coke furnace and compared with the recent extended non-minimal state space predictive functional control (ENMSSPFC) based PID controller, where results demonstrate that the proposed PID shows better performance than ENMSSPFC based PID control. An incremental model was built using the orthogonal Kautz function base. An adaptive predictive functional control algorithm based on incremental Kautz model has been designed in this paper. An increment state space equation is used to model the course. The recursive least-squares (RLS) is used to identify the parameters online. The simulations verified the given strategy. It is shown that the value of over output is restrained, and the control quality is increased with the designed method.

As a main steam temperature control system features characteristics such as large time-delays, time-varying parameters, and nonlinearity, it is difficult to obtain accurate results using traditional proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control. As a result, a predictive functional-PID cascade control algorithm is proposed. In the cascade control system designed by the proposed algorithm, a conventional PID control is used for the inner loop and a predictive functional control is used for the outer loop. This combines the advantages of these two algorithms-the anti-disturbance of PID algorithm and the strong robustness of predictive functional control algorithm. Simulation results show that, compared with the conventional PID cascade control, the controller based on the proposed algorithm can meet the system requirements such as rapid response and steady-state accuracy, which makes the system have strong robustness and anti-disturbance capability.

The kite generator is a kind of high-altitude wind energy (HAWE) generation. The control systems play a key role in the stable and efficient operation of kite generators. In order to solve the difficulties in accurate modeling of non-rigid kite and real-time problems encountered when nonlinear model predictive control methods are applied to kite generators, a kind of predictive functional controller based on neural network is presented in this paper. With BP network used as predictive model for kite generators of carousel structure, the maximum generation controller is designed for kite generators using PFC principles. The implementation of closed loop control system is given, and its correctness and effectiveness are validated by simulation results, which also show that the PFC algorithm can meet the needs for speed of computation.

According to the hydraulic power source of the new type of motor pump,especially its principles and characteristics,based on the combination of the characteristics of the hydraulic control system,the paper puts forward a time-sharing control system of motor pump-valve and establishes a mathematical model to simulate its working with the predictive functional control algorithm. It is proven that the new type of control system is of high efficiency,good dynamic characteristics,great anti-interference ability so that it has high practical value in engineering.

An advanced control concept, predictive functional control (PFC), is applied for temperature control of a benchscale batch reactor. First principles process models are developed. Based on achieved models, significant process variables, which are difficult or impossible to measure online, are estimated from easily measured variables, and cascade PFC control strategy has been projected and implemented in Programmable Logic controller (PLC). The dynamic of individual process subunits is explicit taken into consideration. Moreover, model uncertainty and various process disturbances are compensated by modification of internal model. The experimental results present an excellent capability of tracking the set point.

An adaptive steady predictive functional control algorithm using the orthogonal Kautz function base has been designed in this paper. Performance of the closed-loop system is discussed, and the stability condition is given based on Lyapunov stability theory. A new improved parameter compensating algorithm depended on genetic algorithm is introduced. The simulations verified the given strategy.

A new support vector machine based nonlinear predictive functional control design method has been developed and applied to an industrial coking furnace, which leads to the improvement of regulatory capacity for both reference input tracking and load disturbance rejection compared with traditional PFC and PID control strategies. The nonlinear process is first treated into a linear part plus a nonlinear part, then a convergent overall linear predictive functional control law is designed. The method gives a direct and effective multi-step predicting method and uses linear methods to get the control law which avoids the complicated nonlinear optimization. Comparison results and application to the temperature control of the industrial heavy oil coking furnace are presented in the article showing the efficiency of the method. (c) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. In order to overcome the defect that FOPIDPFC algorithm parameters cannot realize self-organizing adjusting online and to improve the generator operating stability to acquire higher precision, fuzzy control algorithm combined with FOPIDPFC algorithm is adopted to implement PIDPFC control parameters online self-organizing adjusting by using fuzzy logical control and to consummate common FOPIDPFC controller. This fuzzy PIDPFC control algorithm was applied to synchronous generator excitation system. Results through MATLAB simulation confirm that, compared with FOPIDPFC and PIDPFC control, the fuzzy FOPIDPFC controller shows better controlling ability. System under the control of the FOPIDPFC shows better dynamic and static performance. Testing in the power system dynamic simulation laboratory gets the same results as the simulation.

In recent years, Japanese society has been aging, engendering a labor shortage of young workers. For a robot that is often in contact with people and which must provide safety and flexibility in nursing and welfare, the development of a soft, lightweight, and compact actuator has been sought. Particularly robots that are intended for use in the field of medical care and welfare should be safe when functioning around humans because they often come into contact with people. Therefore, a tendon-driven balloon actuator (balloon actuator) has been developed for a robot hand to be used in such environments. For this study, we developed a stroke control system for a balloon actuator using a predictive functional control (PFC). predictive functional control is one model based on a predictive control (MPC) scheme, which predicts the future outputs of the actual plant over the prediction horizon and computes the control effort over the control horizon at every sampling instance. This paper reports the PFC control performance of the balloon actuator. We compared the control performance for the actuator with that of a PFC and PID control system.
