This paper presents the methods to prevent the QoS Spoofing attack, which disturbs the real-time network communications with malicious packets to delay or drop the control packets for processautomation. The attack is new and unique threat introduced to the processautomation, when the processautomation users utilize wireless sensor network via plant wide backhaul network. sQoS is a HMAC based lightweight method to protect the real-time network communications from QoS Spoofing attack. To implement the new generation thermo mechanical control process (NG-TMCP), the automatic control system of ultra fast cooling (UFC) was developed by combined with the renovation project of controlled cooling system in one plate production line. This system was composed of basic automation subsystem and processautomation subsystem. As the main control unit of the basic automatic control system, a S7400 PLC system is used to control the UFC device and to achieve the chain control between the UFC system and the mill system. While the process control system is to realize the automatical setting of the cooling schedule by the developed finite element temperature field model and the temperature homogeneity model. The industry application shows that the NG-TMCP which is based on the UFC can reduce the alloy content effectively and implement the low-cost reduction produce of high-grade products.

Industrial process automation systems are adopting event based communication. Pushing control loops towards low-level devices implies a need for lightweight embedded devices that are able to recognize and to react to events. Atomic events however, such as a value read by an individual sensor exceeding certain value, do not separately suffice to capture scenarios where a reaction should occur to a sequence of low-level events matching certain pattern, rather than to a single atomic event. Therefore, it becomes desirable that resource-constrained low-level devices are equipped with some, possibly lightweight, form of event filtering and processing. In this paper we propose to implement a lightweight complex event processing using the concurrent reactive objects (CRO) model. A core feature of the CRO model is its s ability to react to atomic events. Between the reactions, which basically are function executions, the system remains idle, and thus does not occupy the CPU and is energy-efficient. Additionally, CRO models can be executed in an efficient and predictable manner onto resource constrained platforms and offers low-overhead real-time scheduling through exploiting underlying interrupt hardware according to given time constraints.

Plate production thickness accuracy depends on the Automatic Gauge Control (AGC) function in the basic automationsystem for the plate mill area. With date communication module, process tracking module, data management module, and model calculation module, the core process model setup function is implemented by process automation system. process monitoring and operation are implemented by HMI system. The steel making plant of the Megasteel Sdn., Bhd., Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, comprises two production lines, each consisting of a shaft furnace with fingers, a ladle furnace and a VDOB facility. As part of the construction of this new minimill, a turnkey level 2 process automation system was supplied and commissioned by the PSI-BT Business Technology for Industries AG (a joint venture between PSI AG and former BFI Bf), Dusseldorf. The main task of the level 2 sys-tem is to control and monitor all production steps and the mater-ial flow from the scrap yard to the take over of the heat at a CSP plant. In order to guarantee the high demands of the CSP facility concerning the liquid steel qual-ity, and to achieve a high level of reproducibility, the system comprises extensive automatic control functions for all facilities which are based on dynamic process models. For support of the quality management and for complete documentation of the production process, all relevant process data are stored in a long term archive and are available either as printed reports or via remote data base access. The automationsystem is integrated into the enterprise wide computer network and communicates with the basic automationsystem, the production planning system, the CSP automationsystem and the lab computer. It is successfully in operation since mid of 1999 and is at present in the final tuning phase of the process models.
