Study on a new four-fiber sensor signal processing algorithm of hydrodynamic characteristics in liquid-liquid two-phase flow

In the process of two-phase countercurrent flow in the extraction column, the study of the hydrodynamic characteristics of dispersed phase droplets is crucial for the design and scaling up of the extraction column. In a pulsed extraction column with a liquid-liquid system, the four-sensor optical fiber probe was used to assess the hydrodynamic characteristics of the dispersed phase droplets, including size, mean velocity, and holdup. 1 M HNO3 and 30% TBP/kerosene were used as continuous phase and dispersed phase, respectively. The effects of two-phase superficial velocities and pulsation intensity were investigated on droplet size, mean velocity, and holdup. The findings show that aside from the local holdup, the pulsation intensity has the greatest impact on the hydrodynamic characteristics. A new and concise algorithm was used to deal with the light signals to determine the droplet size and mean velocity. This algorithm created two Cartesian coordinate systems, each with a separate z-axis using the leading probe as the origin of the coordinate instead of using the vector approach. Compared to the previous algorithm, both the needed number of the time interval between the voltage peaks and that of the direction angles decrease. The relative error of the droplet size obtained by this improved algorithm is within 7%, and droplet velocity is almost the same, compared to the previous algorithm, which indicates that the new algorithm of the four-sensor optical fiber signal processing is reliable to the measurement of the hydrodynamic characteristics.

Simulation is an option to manage the complexity of heterogeneous systems which are more and more common in today's vehicles. To estimate the real runtime of an algorithm, such a system simulator has to rely on each processor simulator it is combined of. Since fast running simulators often have a bad quality regarding the determination of non-functional properties, we compared state-of-the-art ARM models with real hardware using an algorithm for processing raw radar data as it is already used in the automotive industry. It appears that there is still need to develop better methodologies for ascertaining the runtime of an algorithm in a simulation environment.

In order to alleviate the contradiction between supply and demand of professional pharmacists, integrate medical resources, and ensure the safety of patients' medication, the telemedicine diagnosis system has played a great role. Today, in this "Internet +" era, all walks of life have begun to integrate with Internet technology. The purpose of this article was to discuss the practical utility of machine learning and natural language pro-cessing algorithms in the remote mobile medical diagnosis system of Internet hospitals, for which this article conducted in-depth discussion. This article first introduced the basic concepts, development, and characteris-tics of machine learning and natural language processing algorithms in detail, and carefully studied and ana-lyzed the development and culture of traditional offline medical diagnosis models. Based on machine learning and natural language processing algorithms, a remote mobile medical diagnosis is designed. By combining with the medical diagnosis system of traditional hospitals, a new type of remote mobile medical diagnosis system for Internet hospitals was designed and developed, and the combination of traditional medical indus-try and Internet technology was deeply studied. According to each functional requirement, the image module, heart rate measurement module, and user setting module are designed, respectively. Compared to traditional medical diagnosis systems, the accuracy of the remote mobile medical diagnosis system based on machine learning applied in Internet hospital diagnosis in this article reached 80% or even higher. At the same time, it was found through experiments that when the evolution number was 3, the maximum fit value and average fit value were the same, both of which were 0.6. This indicates that the system can accommodate more than 10,000 people at the same time, and patients can receive good treatment plans, with a very broad application prospect.

AUTOMATED processing OF WELL LOGGING DATA TO MONITOR THE POSITION OF THE GAS-WATER CONTACT IN UNDERGROUND GAS STORAGE FACILITIES

Natural oil and gas deposits in most fields include some fluid contacts, such as oil-water, gas-water, or gas-oil. Monitoring the position of the gas-water contact in underground gas storage (UGS) facilities is crucial for monitoring the safety of the subsurface environment. As UGS facilities are geological features of long-term operation, the condition of these features must be regularly monitored for possible gas leaks due to various reasons, whether geological or technical. Periodic surveys of production wells using geophysical methods make it possible to timely detect the reasons for abnormal technical conditions and higher-than-normal water cuts of reservoirs, and to assess shifts in gas-water contact. The suite of production logging methods for surveying and monitoring underground gas storage facilities includes nuclear logging with the use of steady radiation sources (i.e., gamma ray logging and neutron logging). Analysis and interpretation of these methods make it possible to track the shift over time of the gas-water contact in gas-saturated sandstones with an interparticle porosity of >15%. Data from nuclear logging, temperature logs, and composition-based and flow-based surveying are processed and interpreted with the use of known methods and diagnostic indicators to achieve the following goals: to determine the intervals of inter-reservoir and behind-the-casing fluid movement on the base of the well log, to assess the technical condition of the wellbore, to monitor the position of the gas-water contact in the reservoir, to assess the gas saturation of the reservoir, and to monitor the thickness and integrity of the clay caprocks of UGS facilities [1]. Spatial processing of Acoustic Signals in Oceanic Waveguides on a Wind Noise Background

The articles studies how the correlation characteristics of noise generated by wind sources affect the efficiency of spatial processing of signals received by a horizontal array in oceanic waveguides with a rough sea surface. The array gain values are analyzed for three spatial processing methods: the standard PA method, optimal linear processing, and optimal quadratic processing. Numerical simulation results for winter hydrological conditions in the Barents Sea and Pacific Ocean are presented. The authors focus on dependence of the array gain on the distance to the source. The array gain values calculated using the wind noise model and traditional noise model uncorrelated on its elements are compared.

Nasopharyngeal ventilation (NPV) is a common technique used to support breathing, particularly when a patient's respiration is inadequate, such as under sedation. It involves delivering oxygen through an endotracheal tube positioned above the glottis. Accurate tidal volume measurement is crucial for anesthesiologists, with the gold standard being a pneumotachograph. However, due to leakage from the mouth or mask, this method has limitations when applied to NPV. This study introduces a computational model that calculates respiratory flow in real time by accounting for leak flow. Results show that tidal volume measurements using this method are comparable to the gold standard, assuming the model's assumptions hold true.

Accuracy Evaluation of algorithms for processing a Posteriori Measurement Results Obtained from Tripled Measurement Channels

The paper considers a problem associated with the evaluation of conditional (refined) confidence limits set for measurement errors using a posteriori information on measurement results. An analysis was carried out to compare the accuracy of various algorithms for processing a posteriori measurement results obtained using three measurement channels of the same type. The algorithms are used to process the results of three equally accurate measurements according to the arithmetic mean and median values, as well as the arithmetic mean of the maximum and minimum values. Here, three parameters serve as a posteriori information: the ratio of the difference between the maximum and minimum results of three measurements to the accuracy indicator of the measurement channel;the ratio of the minimum to the maximum values of two differences (the maximum and median or median and minimum values of the three measurement results);the product of the two above-mentioned parameters. The first and second parameters characterize relative spread and uniformity in the dispersion of results obtained from three measurements, respectively, while the third characterizes density and - as with the second parameter - dispersion uniformity. For these three parameters, boundary values were ascertained, relative to which the conditional confidence limits for the errors of algorithms exceed or fall below the unconditional confidence limits for the errors of these algorithms. In terms of accuracy indicators, a particular algorithm can be rationally applied for processing three equally accurate measurements depending on the error distribution law. Relationships are proposed for evaluating the accuracy indicators of results obtained when processing these measurement data.

The effect of intermodal correlations on the efficiency of the spatial processing of a signal in oceanic waveguides with a perturbed surface is studied. An algorithm of calculating the correlation matrix of a signal on the aperture of a horizontal antenna array with allowance for the interferential structure of an acoustic field in the sound channel is proposed. The antenna gain factor is analyzed for three spatial-processing methods, such as the standard phased antenna array, optimal linear processing, and optimal quadratic optimization techniques. The results of numerical modeling for the hydrological conditions of the Barents Sea in the winter period are given. Particular attention is paid to interferential oscillations in the gain factor of an antenna array and the dependence of its values "smoothened " at the scale of the interferential structure of an acoustic field in a waveguide on the problem parameters.

Direct imaging is an active research topic in astronomy for the detection and the characterization of young sub-stellar objects. The very high contrast between the host star and its companions makes detection particularly challenging. In addition to the use of an extreme adaptive optics system and a coronagraph to strongly attenuate the starlight contamination, dedicated post-processing methods combining several images recorded with the pupil tracking mode of the telescope are needed. In previous works, we have presented the PACO1-3 algorithm capturing the spatial correlations of the data with a multi-variate Gaussian model whose parameters are estimated in a data-driven fashion at the scale of a patch of a few tens of pixels. PACO is parameter free and delivers reliable detection confidences with an improved sensitivity compared to the standard methods of the field (e.g., cADI,(4) PCA,(5,6) TLOCI7). However, there is a room for improvement in the detection sensitivity due to the approximate fidelity of the PACO statistical model with respect to the observations. We propose to combine the statistics-based model of PACO with a deep learning approach in a three-step algorithm. First, the data are centered and whitened locally using the PACO framework to improve the stationarity and the contrast in a preprocessing step. Second, a convolutional neural network is trained in a supervised fashion to detect the signature of synthetic sources in the preprocessed science data. The network is trained from scratch with a custom data augmentation strategy allowing to generate a large training set from a single spatio-temporal dataset. Finally, the trained network is applied to the preprocessed observations and delivers a detection map. We apply our method on eleven datasets from the VLT/SPHERE-IRDIS instrument and compare our method with PACO and other baselines of the field (cADI, PCA).
