This program development project integrated dance/movement therapy concepts and Dr. Joy DeGruy's Post traumatic slave syndrome (PTSS) theory, with the goal of helping African American adolescents in Chicago's Roseland neighborhood understand, explore and heal from PTSS. The Delphi Method was used to gather information from collaborators via individual interviews and follow up surveys. Collaborators-all experienced with African American adolescents in the Roseland neighborhood and similar neighborhoods-included one African American dance/movement therapist, one program developer, an arts and education director, and an arts education manager. Information sought from collaborators was guided by a Theory Logic Model resulting in clearly identified inputs, activities, outputs, outcomes and impacts. The resulting program, titled Healing in Motion, consists of ten modules focused on healing domains from DeGruy's PTSS model. Each module uses DMT and creative arts approaches for addressing the healing domains. Practical strengths-based activities support healing and positive community engagement. program adaptations, evaluation suggestions and supplemental activities beyond the current program are suggested.

Based on the American NSWC-10 criterion, we analyzed the mechanical standard components' failure mechanisms and failure modes, through which inducted their common methods and calculation models of reliability prediction according to their specific characteristics. Furthermore, they have been transformed into the metric system standards used in China. And also the development of the software's interface, algorithm, connection and data preservation were accomplished utilizing C# development language in the integrated development environment of Visual Studio to realize the reliability prediction of mechanical standard components.

Adolescent pregnancy and parenting remains a pressing social and public health concern because the United States continues to have the highest teen pregnancy rate among Western developed nations and because of the attendant social, psychological, and physical problems for young parents and their children. Prevention efforts to reduce the incidence of pregnancy and parenting among all teens continue to be critical. Even though funding constraints may limit the number of programs, it is possible to maximize the effectiveness of those that do exist or are developed. The most effective prevention programs are those based on theoretical models. This paper focuses on common theoretical models in four areas (developmental, perceived control, attitudes/intentions, and social learning) that can be easily applied to pregnancy prevention program development. After a short description of the theory and a discussion of its use in the literature, the theory's relevance to pregnancy/parenting prevention program development is discussed. Each year in the United States, 31% of elders who die do so in hospitals, accounting for over half a million deaths often involving expensive and unnecessary treatments (Zhao & Encinosa, 2010). Re-hospitalizationsof frail elders with end-stage illnesses are a concern for the hospitals that have discharged them and for the facilities in which they live. In 2011, Schervier Nursing Care Center, a 364-bedskilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in the Bronx, NY, looked at its re-hospitalization rates. It was discovered that a large percentage of the residents being sent to the hospital were from the long-termand subacute populations with end-stage diseases that were no longer responding to treatment. This article describes the development of two innovative programs whose goals were to increase the number of residents receiving palliative care, increase the number of completed advance directives, reduce re-hospitalizations, and increase hospital referrals to the nursing home for palliative care. The key components of both programs and their outcomes are described. The development and implementation of these programs were the author's capstone project for the Zelda Foster Social Work Leadership Fellowship in Palliative and End-of-Life Care.
The core of our argument rests in the nature of the relationship between regional and provincial educational authorities and local schools/communities. In the present situation the relationship is ambiguous. On one ha...

Fisk University began the genesis of HBCU graduate programs in 1880. During the next fifty years, several other HBCUs established graduate programs. That group included Lincoln, Howard, and Morgan State. However, only Lincoln University established a PhD program. The primary goal of this paper is to provide a historical perspective regarding the development of social work doctoral degree programs in the context of HBCU graduate degree program development. Although HBCU social work doctoral programs have only existed since 1978, they are significant and growing academic enterprises which are expanding the pool of doctoral level social work experts and professors of color. Further, these programs should be viewed contextually as producers of scholars on the larger landscape of the academy.

This chapter views a specific population within the Irish social care system and draws from the authors' collective experience in relation to young offenders who are leaving care. It describes how effective program development for these youth is considered crucial to their long-term success and permeates all good practice.

Effective development and dissemination of information for older consumers necessitates consideration of the older individual as learner and consumer within a larger interacting system. A framework for assessing the needs of the older learner/consumer is proposed. Recognition of the physiological and psychological characteristics of the elderly individual as both consumer and learner is the first dimension of the framework. The second dimension places the individual in context by exploring the impact upon older learners and consumers of components of the technological and social‐psychological systems. The final dimension of the framework emphasizes the importance of an and ragogical approach to the actual teaching process. A description of the research project from which the framework evolved is presented.

To address the systematic linkage between gerontological higher education and continuing education, the University of Georgia Gerontology Outreach program's needs assessment model is designed to be process and outcome oriented, ongoing, and based on the input from a variety of constituents. In the final of three articles, synthesis of the results from focus groups and a telephone survey are informed by gerontology core principles to comprise the framework for the educational model of the Outreach program. The qualitative data from the focus groups provided the opportunity for elaboration of issues identified through the telephone survey. The educational model presented in this article addresses pertinent issues as well as a multi-level curriculum to address three levels of trainees in gerontology.

This research used a self-defense program to explore how middle school girls could change their perspectives on the gendered roles of victim and protector within an empowered self-defense approach. Taking the dual role of researcher and self-defense instructor, I developed a program to influence changing information strips directed toward gender norms, behavior, and discourse. Reflexive thematic analysis was utilized due to its intersection of the researcher's experience, literature, and theory. The research consisted of 40 girls journaling and 23 girls completing a post-program survey. Findings suggested that reflexive body techniques through self-defense could potentially impact internalized gendered information strips.
