This paper presents a kind of automatic arc suppression equipment with fast response based on thyristor switched capacitor (TSC) control technology. It can mitigate the bad effects caused by single-phase-to-ground-faults in the distribution system. Three functions were realized in order to ensure the equipment's safe and reliable operation: first, intelligent distinguishing a single-phase-to-ground-fault;second, accurate measure of the capacitive reactance of the system-to-ground;third, safe running of thyristors. The control system's hardware composed of PLC, HMI of touch screen and across-zero trigger boards is also proposed. The simulation tests prove the equipment has acceptable performance.

A dynamic real-time simulator for hydraulic turbine generating unit based on programmable computer controller has been developed. The basic mathematical models of each component of the hydraulic turbine generating unit were analyzed. The hardware configuration and the software implementation of the dynamic real-time simulator were described in detail. With the simulator, the transients of the different Operating conditions of the hydraulic turbine generating unit could be calculated and simulated in real-time. The performance of the hydraulic turbine governor could be test and fine-tuned whether developed in the laboratory or installed in the field. The dynamic real-time simulator also can be operated as a training system for new workers of the hydro power plant Some simulations and field tests have been conduct with a prototype hydraulic turbine governor, and the results indicate that the dynamic real-time simulator has a good performance.

The main features of the control system are the thoroughly distributed architecture, the intelligent field mounted control modules, and the two level data communication networks. Many academic researchers have been working on the problem of how to improve industrial logic design. The problem that many are trying to solve is the perceived inefficiency of the current methods, which use primitive, low-level design languages, practically no logic reuse, and are very time consuming. To solve these problems researchers have focused on methods which can be verified against a known specification language, or which can be automatically generated from a specification. This work has generally been done with a minimal understanding of what the current logic design methods actually are. In this work, we present the results of an observational study of the current methods of creating control logic. We find that the current specifications are generally informal and loosely defined, and that the typical logic designer is responsible for determining the details of system behavior, anticipating potential problems, and coordinating with other designers. This is a larger range of activities than generally addressed by logic design schemes focused on verification or automatic logic generation.

The contribution brings results of a general framework extension development with final aim to obtain a CASE-like tool for distributed control systems design. The tool should be suitable for the systems with programmable controllers and should be based on the international standards IEC 61131 and IEC 61499. The general framework was developed at Department of Measurement and Control, VSB-TU Ostrava. The described system allows covering of main steps of design process from system analysis to implementation of control application.
