Machine learning-assisted network security may significantly contribute to securing 5G components. However, machine learning network security inference generally requires tens to hundreds of milliseconds, thereby introducing significant latency in 5G operations. The inference latency can be reduced by deploying the machine learning model to programmablelogic in a field programmable gate array at the cost of a small loss in accuracy. In order to quantify this loss, as well as to establish baseline performance inference latency for programmablelogic implementations, this work explores an autoencoder and a $\beta$-variational autoencoder deployed on two different field programmable gate array evaluation boards and compares accuracy and performance against an NVIDIA A100 graphics processing unit implementation. A publicly available 5G dataset containing 10 types of attacks along with normal traffic is introduced as part of the evaluation.

This paper presents the use of three-dimensional (3D) printing technology for rapid manufacturing a discone antenna. The advanced 3D printing technology can provide antenna prototypes rapidly manufactured in comparable time frames as conventional antenna prototypes. Here, the 3D printing technology is applied to manufacture the cone part of proposed discone antenna based on polylactic-acid (PLA) material, while the disc part is realized using a copper metal sheet. The proposed discone antenna which is intended as an electromagnetic interference (EMI) sensor is designed to produce a wideband frequency response of 700 MHz - 6000 MHz. The characterization result shows that the manufactured discone antenna has the operating bandwidth for -10 dB reflection coefficient of more than 5300 MHz with the lowest operating frequency of 698 MHz.

IoT devices are being used in different environments recently. They are mostly resource-constrained, and therefore, their data security is crucial. Several lightweight cryptographic primitives were proposed to overcome the limitations of the devices while maintaining moderate security levels. Such primitives provide either encryption or authentication. The encryption must be authenticated by a Message Authentication Code (MA C) or hash function for better overall security. Therefore, an architecture of integrated lightweight authenticated encryption (AE) based on LED block cipher and PHOTON hash function is presented. LED and PHOTON architectures were combined while exploiting area-performance trade-offs and utilizing the shared internal functions. The architecture is designed in Verilog HDL, synthesized in Altera Quartus II and simulated on Field programmable Gate Array (FPGA) devices. The individual design of LED utilizes 357 logic elements (LE) and PHOTON utilizes 852 LE resulting in a total of 1209 LE. The logic utilization of the proposed shared architecture is 1046 LE. The results reveal that 13.5 % reduction in logic area is achieved compared to the independent implementations of LED and PHOTON.

Topology optimization tolls are becoming effectively more useful across a variety of designing and manufacturing sectors, due to their capability to produce performance oriented lightweight configurations. Especially when the target is to deal with the complex user specific diaphanous products, the integrity of additive manufacturing with such design optimization techniques introduces the practicality in the application. This paper focuses on how the structural simulation in the early design phases can make a splint more comfortable for the user, without compromising its strengthening properties. A custom finger-splint has been designed using 3D scans, processed under structural simulation followed by topology optimization and validation and then fabricated from additive manufacturing using PLA (Polylactic acid). The optimization results show a considerable weight reduction (3.524 gm for 60% retained mass) of 30.52 % from the un-optimized one (5.072 gm for 100% retained mass). Also, removing access material can assure the ventilation ease to the limb and provide the user with sweat-free comfort.

The presented paper describes the milling processes. An experimental setup of a laboratory ball mill with an inner diameter of 238 mm, a high-speed camera, and a digital tachometer are used. The used equipment aims to investigate the behavior of the ball mill by using various 3D printed materials to produce the drum and grinding bodies. Applying the most used modes of grinding work in ball mills-70%, 75%, and 80% of the critical speed of the laboratory ball mill depending of the 3D materials was measured the separation angle and chosen the most appropriate speed for the most efficient grinding. The mill is filled with 20% of its volume. The work regimes, the volume of the mill, and parameters of the 3D printed materials are determined experimentally.

Polylactic acid (PLA) has been considered as a base material for the manufacture of cases used in the protection of electronic devices due to its easy handling and low cost; however, it does not have suitable properties for outdoor applications. Based on the above, this work presents the analysis of alternative materials to PLA such as ultra-high density polyethylene (UHDPE), polypropylene (PP) and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). Samples are necessary for their analysis, therefore the procedure for the manufacture of plates by compression molding is presented. Thermal characterization, chemical analysis and mechanical stress tests will be applied to the samples. As a result, properties such as hygroscopicity, degradation onset temperature and ductility will be known, which will be evaluated to determine a suitable polymeric matrix for the application.

In this paper a selection of designs of directional lens antennas for V2X communication is presented and investigated. We have compared five different types of all-dielectric 3D-printed lenses - extended hemispherical, ellipsoidal, zoned cylindrical, planar graded index, and modified Luneburg lens, all of them using the same patch radiator. The assumed fabrication method for all lenses is 3D printing using low-cost PLA filament. The antennas with the most promising simulated performance and lens constructions were fabricated and measured.

This paper studies the physical layer security for the downlink of cellular networks. Specifically, a user equipment (UE) should identify whether the received signals is from a legal base station (BS) or a rogue BS. Toward this end, a new physical layer authentication (PLA) scheme is proposed using the inherent and unique characteristics of direction of arrival (DOA) of the received signal. Under a simple hypothesis test, the DOA and rotational state features of the end device are used in designing the decision metric. The probability of false alarm and detection are analyzed based on the developed decision metric and their closed-form expressions are derived, based on which the optimal threshold can be obtained. Simulation results show that compared with the existing method in the literature, the proposed scheme outperforms significantly in terms of detection accuracy.

The purpose of group recommender systems (GRS) is to recommend relevant items to group members rather than individuals. The suggestion relies entirely on obtaining the preferences of groups, which is mostly dependent on trust, tendency, influence, likeness, closeness, etc among the group of users. One of the common and current issues in GRS is member relationships and group satisfaction. To improve the group recommendation and group satisfaction, we introduce member inclination and item usefulness in a group. The proposed method is discussed in two ways by using the aggregate prediction approach of GRS. In the first case, we compute user inclination and item usefulness considering the whole dataset. In the second case, we compute member inclination and item usefulness using only group information. We introduce a novel aggregation strategy based on popularity and likeness (PLAS). It combines the predicted member rating into a group *** evaluate the group satisfaction, we propose a satisfaction measure for the group (SMG). Experiment is conducted on MovieLense-1M (ML-1M), MovieLense-100k (ML-100k), and NetFlix-1M (NF-1M) datasets. The proposed novel approach outperforms the existing state-of-art method in various measures like MAE, RMSE, Precision, Recall, F-1 measure, GIM, GPIM, and SMG.

With the rapid development of green power grid, polylactic acid (PLA), a biodegradable material, is the basis and forerunner of high and new technology, and has a broad application prospect in power system. In this paper, the effects of thermal aging at 60°C on the electrical and dielectric properties of polylactic acid (PLA) were studied based on the application scenarios of PLA. The polylactic acid after drying was placed in a constant temperature aging chamber, and its macroscopic properties were measured by sampling every other day. It was found that the power strobe flashover voltage of PLA showed a significant rising trend with the increase of heat treatment time, and the breakdown voltage increased by 48% after heat treatment. The relative dielectric constant first increased and then decreased, and the dielectric loss did not change significantly. In this paper, molecular dynamics simulation analysis showed that the -OH and C=C functional groups in the molecular structure of PLA decreased after heat treatment, while C=O increased significantly. It is also found that the increase of the lowest-occupied molecular orbital-highest occupied molecular orbital (LUMO-HOMO) horizontal gap from 12.93 eV to 13.80 eV leads to a significant increase in the breakdown voltage of PLA materials. This study will provide theoretical basis for the application of PLA in complex power grid conditions.
