Retrieving content from degraded document image is very big and difficult task due to high variation between document background and foreground text. To simplify the task, novel system first constructs correct contrast to the image. Correct contrast to be constructed, based on the local maximum minimum algorithm process's result. Then find text edge stroke detection which lies on high contrast pixel in dark region by canny edge detection method and Otsu's method. After that, calculate local threshold value for the document image, and comparing each pixel with threshold value level, give result as `0' or `1'. Hence it is called binarization technique. Finally, post processing is done for sharpening the text edges.

Nowadays, providing personalized service to customers is one of the main issues in big data services. To provide the personalized service, analyzing various logs and cooperation between data analysts and developers are critical. However, the problem is that overhead can occur when the log data is analyzed due to general characteristics of big data system as well-known 4Vs(Velocity, Various, Value and Volume). Also, generally it is hard for data analysts and developers to work together because they use different interfaces. Therefore, we propose a personalized log analysis system including rule-based data grouping method in order for the improved performance of personalized log analysis and more flexible cooperation between data analysts and developers. The evaluation of the proposed system performs well for cooperation and grouping along with the R SW tool.

Device-free passive (DFP) localization systems are a key solution for location-based services because they do not require any wireless device on a human body. Most of the existing DFP localization systems are based on the received signal strength (RSS) measurement only. However, the localization accuracy of RSS only-based systems is easily affected by the spatial and temporal variances of RSS due to multipath fading and noise, even in a static environment. In this paper, we propose a novel localization system for DFP using signal subspace eigenvectors from an antenna array. We present a fingerprinting technique using multiclass support vector machines (SVMs) based on a combination of array signal features with spatial and temporal averaging. We then evaluate the localization accuracy of our proposed system in different propagation environments: line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS). In addition, we analyze two types of receive antenna placement: centralized and distributed antennas. The experimental results show that the localization accuracy can be improved by the proposed system, particularly in the centralized antenna case. Moreover, they show that the proposed system can improve localization accuracy compared to the conventional RSS-only based system.

Ionosphere has ion distribution which is variable in space and time. There have been physical and empirical studies for modeling the ionosphere. International Reference Ionosphere extended to Plasmasphere (IRI-Plas) is the most recent model developed for this purpose. However, IRI-Plas presents a model about the ionosphere and its compliance with the instantaneous state of the ionosphere does not provide the accuracy needed for engineering purposes. One of the important information sources about the instantaneous state of the ionosphere is GPS signals. In this study, constructing the ionosphere which is compatible with both the instantaneous ionosphere measurements and the physical structure of the ionosphere is presented as an optimization problem, and solved by using the particle swarm optimization technique. The ionosphere over Turkey is investigated by using the proposed optimization method and the importance of the instantaneous ionosphere measurements obtained from GPS signals is demonstrated.

Biodegradable polymers and plastics are environment friendly because they decrease environmental pollution, conserve resources and reduce non-recyclable waste. Poly lactic acid (PLA) is a biodegradable plant derived polymer. Their properties are improved by copolymerization, blending, plasticization, polymer alloy technology and by development of composites techniques. These polymers can be used in computers, mobile phones, housing, textiles, optical, packaging films and bags. In this paper the feasibility of 1.7 and 3 mm thicker PLA as a substrate in wearable patch antenna is investigated. For comparison patch antenna on identically thicker (1.7 and 3 mm) FR-4 substrate is also simulated under the same conditions in CST Microwave Studio. The return loss, gain, directivity and efficiency of both antennas were compared on operating frequency of 2.45GHz. The proposed antenna employing PLA substrates give return losses of -21 and -22dB, gain of 6 and 6.14 dBi, directivity of 7.58 and 7.54dBi and efficiency of 59 and 70% on 1.7and 3mm thicker substrates respectively, while reference antenna using FR4 substrates results in return losses of -19 and -19.3dB, gain of 2.7 and 3.45dBi, directivity of 7.02 and 6.92 dBi and efficiency of 35and 43% for 1.7 and 3 mm thicker FR4 substrates.

The Product Line Architecture (PLA) design is a multi-objective optimization problem that can be properly solved with search-based algorithms. However, search-based PLA design is an incipient research field. Due to this, works in this field have addressed main points to solve the problem: adequate representation, specific search operators and suitable evaluation fitness functions. Similarly what happens in the search-based design of traditional software, existing works on search-based PLA design use NSGA-II, without evaluating the characteristics of this algorithm, such as the use of crossover operator. Considering this fact, this paper reports results from a comparative analysis of two algorithms, NSGA-II and PAES, to the PLA design problem. PAES was chosen because it implements a different evolution strategy that does not employ crossover. An experimental study was carried out with nine PLAs and results of the conducted study attest that NSGA-II performs better than PAES in the PLA design context.

CNF to DNF Conversion is considered as vast area of research by scientists for PLA's, circuit designs, FPGA's, artificial intelligence, etc. High dimension variable conversion has become a key demand in the current business standard. Various applications are in its requirement like gnome analysis, grid computing, bioinformatics, imaging system, rough sets requires higher variable processing algorithm. Problem statement is - Design and implementation of High dimension optimal conjunctive normal form to optimal (prime implicants) disjunctive normal form conversion which is an “NP hard problem conversion to an NP complete”. Thus CNF to DNF can only be considered to evaluate best performance for higher variable processing on high end systems. The best-known representations of Boolean functions f are those as disjunctions of terms (DNFs) and as conjunctions of clauses (CNFs). It is convenient to define the DNF size off as the minimal number of terms in a DNF representing f and the CNF size as the minimal number of clauses in a CNF representing f.

Many methods have been proposed for analysing high frequency blood pressure or ECG data. We review a recently proposed new approach for analysing such data based on attractor reconstruction and compare it to heart rate variability that analyses the beat-to-beat intervals. Our new approach uses all the available data and so can detect changes in the shape of the waveform.

The success of time series data mining applications, such as query by content, clustering, and classification, is greatly determined by the performance of the algorithm used for the determination of similarity between two time series. The previous research on time series matching has mainly focused on whole sequence matching and sequence-to-subsequence matching. Relatively, very little work has been done on subsequence-to-subsequence matching, where two time series are considered similar if they contain similar subsequences or patterns in the same time order. This paper presents an effective approach capable of handling whole sequence, sequence-to-subsequence and subsequence-to-subsequence matching. The proposed approach derives its strength from the novel two stage segmentation algorithm, which facilitates aligning the two time series by retaining perceptually important points in both time series as break points.

The capacity of the Photovoltaic (PV) power system is growing rapidly in the last decade. PV power systems are installed outdoors and are intended to be directly exposed to sunlight. During their operation, the PV modules are subjected to all types of climate stresses. These include temperature, UV, humidity, chemical erosion, and mechanical stresses. When the PV power systems are installed in an area where lightning events are observed, they are under the stress of direct lightning or lightning induced voltages. The focus of this research was to study the effect of lightning impulse voltages on the power output of the PV module. The paper investigated a type of 1.5 W, 6 V polycrystalline silicon PV modules. Their Maximum Power Output (MPO) were compared after they had been stressed repeatedly with different levels of lightning impulse voltages. The results revealed the MPO drops exponentially with the application of lightning impulse voltages.
