Evaluation is important to the success of IS projects. Research shows that effective evaluation of IS projects can be useful to organizations in both the short and longer terms and can serve multiple purposes. However, in practice IS evaluation is often used in an ad hoc manner. This study attempts to raise awareness of the use of evaluation by investigating how IS evaluation is actually used in practice. Through a brief literature review of aspects of IS evaluation use and the role of stakeholders in evaluation, a theoretical framework for describing the relationship between stakeholder involvement, evaluation outcomes and process, and the use of evaluation is proposed. A case study of a HIS project of a local hospital in China is conducted to illustrate the components of the framework. One major finding is the identification of the details of instrumental, conceptual and symbolic use of HIS project evaluation.

Architecture technology has become the important method in the top-level design of weapons and equipment system. Based on the research of existing architecture framework and supporting technologies, DoD has developed the comprehensive framework for architecture and the development planning for related fields, and energetically promotes the development and application of the architecture. The latest research result is "Department of Defense Architecture Framework Version 2.0". The development of Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and main versions are described. Otherwise, the prime changes and advantages of "DoDAF2.0" are analyzed. The PLA should use the experience of DoD for reference, and actively conduct research on the architecture framework and the related supporting technologies suitable for PLA.

Summary form only given. As already observed [1], plasma technology can be used for modifying surface characteristics and oxygen barrier property of polylactide (PLA). In this work PLA samples have been exposed to the plasma region generated by two different plasma sources operated at atmospheric pressure: a floating electrode dielectric barrier discharge and a novel linear corona discharge. Both plasma sources have been supplied with a high voltage generator capable of producing pulses with a rise rate in the order of some kV/ns, in order to obtain diffuse plasma and avoid the formation of streamers that could cause local damage to the membrane; air and argon have been used as working gases. Pure oxygen permeation tests in PLA films were carried out by means of a closed-volume manometric apparatus working at 35°C, already described in previous publications [2]. A pressure difference of about 1-1.2 bar has been maintained on the two sides of the membrane, and, in order to ensure the reliability of the permeability data, all the measurements were replicated at least twice (the resulting RSD is order 1%). Tests were performed shortly after the plasma treatment and also replicated at different times in order to investigate the durability of the effects obtained. The effects of voltage, frequency and duration of exposure to plasma on the membrane surface characteristics and barrier property have been studied. The effect on membrane characteristics of the use of different plasma sources has been investigated. Results for the PLA O2 permeability are presented for the different conditions analysed. Moreover, durability of the properties modification induced by each type of plasma treatment will be reported.

During service-based systems (SBS) development, the qualities of service (QoS) are significant factors to compose high-quality workflows and the QoS claimed by service providers may be not trustworthy enough. In this paper, a reputation system supervising both service providers and service clients without much monitoring cost is introduced. The approach is based on the claimed QoS deviation from the feedback QoS reported by monitors or clients and is able to provide more trustworthy predicted QoS. An experiment conducted at last validates that the reputation system is effective and efficient.

This paper proposes the optimized design of a wireless energy harvesting device (EHD), by means of an evolutionary optimization method. An important component in energy harvesting technique is rectenna. In this paper, Electromagnetic coupling to transmission line terminated by a non-linear load (e.g. rectifier) is considered as rectenna and in order to increase the power density harvested from radiated field, the field-to-wire coupling must be maximized. Hence, an optimization algorithm called Genetic Swam Optimization (GSO) is applied. This procedure is developed in order to increase the lifetime of a wireless sensor network by scavenging RF energy available in the environment.

Many control techniques applied to converters with power factor correction use cascaded control. These techniques usually ignore the periodic output voltage oscillation by using compensators with low-pass characteristic. This strategy result in voltage closed loop with poor dynamic response. In order to reduce the time-response, designers have associated notch filters into the controller to increase the bandwidth without compromising the power factor correction. However, the linear time invariant approach is no longer valid for stability analysis of such systems. In this case, a better dynamic representation can be achieved by using linear time-periodic models. This paper presents a systematic methodology for stability analysis of continuous control systems using harmonic transfer functions. In this paper, this methodology is applied to analyze the stability of the single-phase half-bridge rectifier. Simulation results are presented to validate the proposed technique.

All kinds of sensor network have been deployed all over the world. Combining some of these networks, we can get a larger sensor network. The data of very large scale sensor network are polymorphous, heterogeneous, large in quantity and time-limited. In its application, how to store and process these data has become a key technology. The major contribution of this paper is proposing a data Processing model based on Cloud computing for very large scale sensor network. In this flexible model, the huge sensor data and node information are stored in Multilevel Data storage including local data bases of different devices and distributed data bases of cloud; Different kinds of computations are decomposed and distributed on different nodes mainly considering their differences on computation ability and power supply. The clouds make the development and deployment of applications base on these very large scale data very easy. We have setup a platform to verify this model base on some open source software. This platform composes of sensor nodes, WIFI and Zigbee networks, embedded gateways, local servers, and clouds. Different data bases including SQLite, TinyDB, MySQL, MongoDB and Cassandra have been used for different type of devices to store data. We also have developed some cloud applications for it. The result shows that this platform base on the new computation model is flexible, easy to develop new application and energy balanced for sensor node.

We report the simultaneous characterization of mechanical and electrical performances of ultraflexible and stretchable organic integrated circuits comprised of high-performance organic semiconductors, carbon nanotube-based elastic conductors, and self-assembled monolayers. By employing a high-precision mechanical stage that combines electrical functional terminals, the electrical performances of ultraflexible or stretchable organic transistors were measured after being bent to a 50 μm bending radius or being stretched to 80% uniaxial stretching.

Modern manufacturing demands automation control systems providing high level of distribution and adaptivity. In this context, the utilization of multi-agent systems for the decentralization of production processes has drawn a lot of attention. Furthermore, the diversity and heterogeneity of the involved systems encourage the utilization of ontology based solutions in order to provide information integration taking into account semantics. The Pabadis' Promise approach introduces a scalable multi-agent system utilizing ontology semantics in order to control the production process from the order placement down to the manufacturing environment. This paper presents a framework for designing and implementing ontology-driven multi-agent systems for adaptive manufacturing, extending the main principles and architecture of Pabadis'Promise system.

Anatomically realistic computational models provide a powerful platform for investigating mechanisms that underlie atrial rhythm disturbances. In recent years, novel techniques have been developed to construct structurally-detailed, image-based models of 3D atrial anatomy. However, computational models still do not contain full descriptions of the atrial intramural myofiber architecture throughout the entire atria. To address this, a semi-automatic rule-based method was developed for generating multi-layer myofiber orientations in the human atria. The rules for fiber generation are based on the careful anatomic studies of Ho, Anderson and co-workers using dissection, macrophotography and visual tracing of fiber tracts. Separately, a series of high color contrast images were obtained from sheep atria with a novel confocal surface microscopy method. Myofiber orientations in the normal sheep atria were estimated by eigen-analyis of the 3D image structure tensor. These data have been incorporated into an anatomical model that provides the quantitative representation of myofiber architecture in the atrial chambers. In this study, we attempted to compare the two myofiber generation approaches. We observed similar myo-bundle structure in the human and sheep atria, for example in Bachmann's bundle, atrial septum, pectinate muscles, superior vena cava and septo-pulmonary bundle. Our computational simulations also confirmed that the preferential propagation pathways of the activation sequence in both atrial models is qualitatively similar, largely due to the domination of the major muscle bundles.
