Beremiz is a project that is currently developing a software based PLC (programmable logic controller) distributed under the open source GNU Public License (GPL). Recent activity has focused on adding support for several industrial communication protocols. This paper describes the implementations and integration with Beremiz of several industrial protocols already completed, as well as current activity and possible future directions.

Industrial automation (IA) greatly reduces the need for human sensory, human workforce and cost. With the rapid growth in the sensors, control and automation technologies many control systems such as programmable logic controller (PLC), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) are performing a significant role in the automation of industries by using software and hardware tools. This paper focuses on automation of an industrial system through a number of tools such as PLC, Lab VIEW, and internet. In the proposed system, the PLC control method is implemented by using PLC Fatek. The planned solution for industrial automation is achieved by implementing a real-time controlling and monitoring system which is interfaced with a low-cost PLC (FATEK) and perfect acquisition software LABVIEW for automation and cost optimization for a typical industrial manufacturing system. The main objective of this study is mixing limestone powder and hot water through an automated approach in order to minimize the risk of workers' health and the occurrence of accidents. The designed system is capable to maintain the water level and temperature of four types of different tanks by controlling automated on-off of the attached heating and mixing equipment. The system offers a more convenient and efficient approach to the transition of manufacturing industries from manual to automated. The automation efficiency can be enhanced furthermore by taking help form android mobile application also LabVIEW dashboard application.

The article presents laboratory bench for research of the optimal and quasi-optimal automatic control system in the contest of its operation speed. Laboratory bench consists of thermal unit and software and hardware suite which includes VIPA System 200 V and HMI/SCADA logic controller and Zenon Supervisor 7.0 system. Thermal unit is described by differential equation of second order pursuing the control channel "amperage in electric heating unit power converter - air temperature inside thermal unit." Differential equation coefficients depend on screen position and rotation frequency of centrifugal blower. The methodology of synthesis and results of calculation of optimal relay hypothesis for thermal unit control through the chosen channel has been approached. The results of experiment in transition of thermal unit from various initial states to final states have been demonstrated. The possibility of implementing optimal control system in respect of its operation speed in real time scale by means of software development by including algorithms for transcendence set of simultaneous equations into it or by means of development of predicative model of thermal unit has been shown. The conditions for application of quasi-optimal relay control hypothesis in respect of its operation speed have been specified. Methodology of synthesis and results of calculation of the length of the first control interval depending on the predetermined value of readjustment has been presented. The results of modeling of quasi-optimal automatic control system in respect of its operation speed in Simulink of Matlab app have been demonstrated. Functional relation of the length of the first control interval depending on the predetermined value of readjustment for implementing of quasi-optimal automatic control system in real time scale with application of basic operational units of programmed logic controller has been established.

Cyber-security is presently a hot topics targeting various applications fields such as IoT, drones, autonomous vehicles, but also industrial plants, power systems, communication infrastructure. Some dedicated academic programmes exist nowadays in the field at the bachelor and at the master levels. The paper presents a new programme in a development phase for teaching cyber-security for cyber-physical systems. One challenge of this programme is to train not only the security specialists and the network administrators, but also classical engineers, particularly in the field of automation. It could be also interesting to open this class to more generally managers.

Most automated industrial processes use Distributed Control Systems (DCSs) or programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for automated control. PLCs tend to be more common as they have much of the functionality of DCSs, although they are generally cheaper to install and maintain. PLCs in conjunction with a human machine interface form the basis of Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, combined with communication infrastructure and Remote Terminal Units (RTUs). RTU's basically convert different sensor measurands in to digital data that is sent back to the PLC or supervisory system. Optical fibre sensors are becoming more common in industrial processes because of their many advantageous properties. Being small, lightweight, highly sensitive, and immune to electromagnetic interference, means they are an ideal solution for a variety of diverse sensing applications. Here, we have developed a PLC Optical Fibre Sensor Interface Module (OFSIM), in which an optical fibre is connected directly to the OFSIM located next to the PLC. The embedded fibre Bragg grating sensors, are highly sensitive and can detect a number of different measurands such as temperature, pressure and strain without the need for a power supply.

Maintaining the lighting parameters in a specific zone at the required level often guarantees the safety of people in this zone. Diverse lighting requirements specified in the PN-EN 12464-2: 2014-05 standard can often be difficult to implement, especially taking into account other recommendations of this standard, for example at energy saving. For this reason, it is very important to carefully choose equipment and lighting system, take into account environment, maintenance program and maintenance characteristics of the lamp. The illuminance of lighting in outdoor work places also depends on daylight, which is affected by the time of the day, season or cloud cover. This article will present the concept of using a programmable logic controller (PLC) to maintain the illumination at a certain level, regardless of the environmental conditions and time of the day. A control program will be created, the task of which will be to maintain the illuminance at the level required by the standard, thanks to monitoring the conditions in the workplace in real time. This solution will also enable reduction of energy consumption. Furthermore, appropriate control of lighting values on the surrounding area have a great impact on how quickly and comfortably an employee perceives and carries out the visual task.

This paper presents a stealthy and persistent attack on a Cyber-Physical System (CPS), namely the smart grid and a multi-layer approach to detect such an attack. The attack on the CPS controller uses a rootkit-based malware. When activated, the rootkit overwrites operator commands to the smart grid relays while evading detection by the operator control station. The rootkit sends valid replies to the operator while corrupting the controller operation through a dynamically loaded library, which is hidden by the rootkit. The attack persists even when the controller stops and restarts since the rootkit automatically restarts the process with the malicious library by using a background daemon, which the rootkit hides from user-space tools. Using a high-fidelity simulation of the smart grid CPS, we show that the attack drastically impacts the CPS, especially when the adversary strategically chooses the target relays to attack. We design an ensemble of detectors to detect the attack and uncover its persistence and insertion mechanisms. The detector uses measures such as hardware performance counters (HPCs), change detection in binary signatures, change detection in system calls, and detection of hidden processes and file system entries.

随着工业4.0的深入推进,人工智能时代的到来,5G通信、感知系统、智能控制等技术不仅在工业生产领域得到广泛应用,而且进入了居民的日常生活,如无人超市、无人驾驶等。然而,高等院校的实训室建设,还存在资源浪费、开放难、人力物力要求高等问题。因此,如何在现有实训基础上,改进实训室智能化程度,如何在实训室管理方面有更深层次的提升,以及如何使得学生能有效在实训室里利用现代智能技术及设备进行实训,研究与开发出满足教学要求和学生需求的实训室智能控制系统有很大的意义。通过对比各类智能控制系统的技术特点,结合学生实训的现状及智能实训室的建设需求,论文以实训室智能控制系统设计为例,采用感知系统技术、智能控制技术、可编程逻辑控制器(programmable logic controller,简称PLC)控制技术以及嵌入式控制技术搭建了基于浏览器/服务器结构(Browser/Server,简称B/S)架构的综合智能控制实训室,以满足学生在智能实训室条件下,完成相应的实训课程,进而了解并掌握智能系统的内涵及应用。论文首先提出以应用层、云平台、控制系统和感知系统技术构成智能控制系统的整体架构。再分别就该体系架构的系统特征、总体任务以及主要技术进行详细介绍。接着对实训室执行系统和感知系统的环境构建、云平台通信、执行系统以及感知系统的详细设计。然后对该架构的应用层软件系统进行了详细设计,主要是设计基于B/S架构的客户端应用界面,在网页界面上实现实训室的综合管理,环境智能控制等功能。实训室综合管理包括实训预约、教学管理以及实训室数据管理;实训室环境智能控制系统包括灯光智能控制、空气质量智能控制、安全防范智能控制以及情境模式的智能选择。应用层设计还包括了系统登录、账户设置、系统信息查询、登录日志,以及针对访问网页的部门、人员的操作权限管理。最后该系统在客户端的web浏览器上远程登录系统,在用户界面上测试各个功能模块,并给出相应的测试结果,结果表明实训室智能控制系统能正常平稳运行,性能优良,能满足学生实训需求,该系统对其他实训控制系统的设计与实现具有一定参考价值。

The US Department of Energy in 2010 has identified several rare earth elements as critical materials to enable clean technologies. As part of ongoing research in REEs (rare earth elements) recovery from coal sources, the University of Kentucky has designed, developed and is demonstrating a ¼ ton/hour pilot-scale processing plant to produce high-grade REEs from coal sources. Due to the need to control critical variables (e.g. pH, tank level, etc.), process control is required. To ensure adequate process control, a study was conducted on leaching and solvent extraction control to evaluate the potential of achieving low-cost REE recovery in addition to developing a process control PLC system. The overall operational design and utilization of Six Sigma methodologies is discussed. Further, the application of the controls design, both procedural and electronic for the control of process variables such as pH is discussed. Variations in output parameters were quantified as a function of time. Data trends show that the mean process variable was maintained within prescribed limits. Future work for the utilization of data analysis and integration for data-based decision-making will be discussed.

The modern stage suspended boom system is automatically controlled by PLC (programmable logic controller), and represents a typical hybrid behavior. It is an important family of stage control machinery systems. This paper presents a formal approach to modeling the system behaviors of different scenes. The system is formally characterized and specified in a timed model. System properties are proved in the proof system of the extended duration calculus.
