PLC based ignition system which controls the ignition of Oil and Gas fired appliances provides Levels of safety, reliability and stability, is developed. The brain of the system is programmablelogic Controller (PLC). The control module provides multilevel component fault detection, tolerance in critical areas such as in flame sensing and valve control circuits. The control module is designed for reliable operation far beyond normal appliances life. The program minimizes shutdowns by providing recycle under certain conditions to establish normal operation before checking out. Timer provides precise timing for ignition, flame failure. On-line timer, remote flame sensor are the advantages of the system. The facility of Input/Output force on, force off, monitoring the inputs and outputs are the advantages of the system. The facility of Input/Output are also provided. Finally this system is factory programmable to provide different warm up time for ignitor system.

This paper introduces a novel design scheme which utilizes a programmablelogic controller (PLC) network-based, computer distributed control system for the automation of a practical manufacturing process. Part of this system is modelled as a multi-product batching processing machine(BPM) which can process a batch of jobs simultaneously with a known and fixed number of jobs and their ready time. The optimal scheduling objective is that the different jobs are dispatched and sequenced in order to minimize the makespan and maximize the utilization of the BPM, it leads to a NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem. We apply genetic algorithms to solve this scheduling problem, and an optimal solution is obtained for a practical case study. The genetic algorithms approach demons (rates effectiveness, efficiency and robustness. The paper thus shows that computer distributed control plus evolutionary scheduling algorithms make the manufacturing system more 'intelligent' and 'flexible'.

The article takes as a starting point the consolidated necessity to verify, in quantitative terms, the reliability and safety levels characteristic of the programmablelogic central devices. An original methodology for the analysis of the above-mentioned characteristics in here illustrated;these properties are guaranteed in a strongly innovative way in comparison with the traditional systems. The article finally presents the results of a compared experimental application of this methodology to a programmablelogic central device and a relay apparatus.
