ITC232-A is a new controller designed to overcome the major drawbacks associated with designing a microcontroller into a control application. This new controller is not only highly integrated but is also capable of reducing the implementation of many standard programmablelogic controller applications from days to hours. In this controller, programming is carried out via a simple serial link to a PC running a low-cost terminal-comms package. Good PLC software design includes a well-defined structure for both the PLC database as well as for the PLC program. It is essential for software engineers to program and annotate the software in such a way that it is user friendly. They must ensure that effective quality assurance procedures are set in place before the project begins. They must ensure that examples and proposals for the software development and documentation are approved before the actual design is started. Several new electronic functions are constantly being integrated into a silicon-on-chip (SoC) encapsulated in a less than 0.5 mm pitch array package, making the future bright for Embedded Board Test (EBT). The SoC will become a main stream component in all consumer portable devices extending into IoT devices. Embedded Board Test (EBT) uses the IEEE defined in-chip access to verify that the IC is attached to the PCBA and in good working condition. It then extends the tests to surrounding components and potentially drives through to test ICs further away. The EBT testing concept suits HDI PCBA (printed circuit board assembly) designs in which one or more CPU or SoC functions as the brain. Successful adoption of EBT requires it to be crafted early in PCBA design to develop the test software as the PCBA design evolves and matures. Test coverage lost due to buried traces can be recovered using EBT, which makes it a complementary test to ICT. Pairing ICT and EBT is ideal as ICT can perform unpowered tests to locate and pinpoint short and open defects, as well as wrong components. A key ingredient in the success of EBT, similar to ICT and FT, is the test fixture and fixture automation.

A method for automatically generating the coordinating PLC-code for a multi-robot cell is presented. Finite state automaton models of the allocation and release of the spatial volumes that the robots share, as well as the sequences of each robot's allocations, are automatically extracted from a 3D simulation environment. This includes explicitly calculating the intersection between the robots' work envelopes, the spatial volumes where collisions may occur. The system model is then analyzed using the Ramadge-Wonham supervisory control theory to verify collision freeness and nonblocking. If necessary, a maximally permissive supervisor that guarantees these properties can be synthesized. The supervisor will include the necessary interlocks but in doing so still permits the robots as much freedom as possible. Thus, if one robot is delayed, the other robots may be free to book and enter a spatial volume that they normally would have to wait for. Finally, from the synthesized supervisor, PLC-code to be run in a controller for coordination of the robots is generated.
