In this paper, we propose a training based on Power Line Communication (PLC) in the Industry 4.0 course for Master Students. The training aim is to teach the students to drive a pick and place robot using a safe industrial control solution. The solution deploys a power line communication protocol stack to transmit data on the DC bus. This solution supports the safe operation for industrial system. Notably, we propose a CANopen Oriented layer over PLC physical layer to implement reliable motion control for the pick and place robot (type TBOT). When a fault happens (due to stuck motor drivers, etc.), the communication system must provide the guarding mode automatically (e.g., change path planning) to guarantee the operation. The approach brings forward a multi-motor synchronizing drive control with a distributed control system based on PLC network communication. Moreover, this paper presents some fault case studies and analysis. Afterward, the path planning algorithms are designed to control the stepper motors. The experimental results indicate the accuracy and stability of motion control in real-time.

In the recent past, employing visible light generated by white LEDs for indoor optical wireless have been proposed and implemented. Since white-LED is usually distributed over the ceiling for illumination, it is possible to use the ubiquitous powerline cables as a communication medium between other fixed network and LED lights. Some works have been done in this area but because powerline is an unpleasantly medium in case of noise and multipath distortion the existing systems do not have good quality factor. So considerations of these parameters are very important issue to model the actual system. This contribution reports on the conceptual analysis and computer modelling of the electromagnetic field surrounding a domestic power distribution cable network that is also being used for high-frequency telecommunication. It concludes that the field will exhibit widely varying rates of fall-off with distance. It shows that because of the emission from multiple sections of cable, and the complexity of the near-field electromagnetic situation, there are major implications for interference profile and measurement methods. The usual approximation for field vs. distance is invalid in most practical cases.
