Clinical differentiation between pityriasis lichenoides chronica (PLC) and guttate psoriasis (GP) may sometimes be a difficult task, which often requires histological analysis to reach a definitive diagnosis. In this study, PLC and GP lesions were examined using dermoscopy, and the significance of specific dermoscopic findings was investigated in order to facilitate their differentiation and decrease the number of cases requiring biopsy. We found that the incidence of orange-yellowish structureless areas, focal dotted vessels and nondotted vessels was statistically significant in PLC, while the incidence of diffuse dotted vessels was statistically significant in GP.

Teaching computer science and particularly programming in the curriculum of a mechanical engineering bachelor poses a difficult task due to motivational factors of the students. In this paper we describe the measures we have taken to reduce barriers and motivate the freshmen students to deal with the subject by introduction of an e-learning course and further by offering an associated lab course with practical application of cyclic programming of a real-time system in teams. Further we present an adapted architecture how the lab course is enhanced to act as a remote lab Finally we evaluate the impact of the course by measuring the success factors of different gender combined groups and give an outlook on future scenarios for lab courses to improve the learning experience and success of the students for both gender. This paper provides a non-exhaustive, rather earlier than recent;overview of contributions in the field of Radio Frequency Identification technology: (RFID), and its use in several sectors. The multidisciplinary nature of this emerging technology requires skills from various engineering fields. Due to the growing use of RFID in various economic sectors, it seems essential to educate engineers, and technicians, to better master this technology. For this purpose. an RFID engineering technology curriculum may be established using different approaches. This paper discuss an approach to integrate RFID technology within usual engineering curriculums by stressing its link to usual disciplines such as industrial, electrical and computer engineering. A case of an RFID laboratory established at the Universite de Moncton (UdeM) is shown. An RFID-based automation of a flexible conveyor system application, carried out in this laboratory. is also described. This paper details a new manufacturing philosophy and software architecture for Evolvable Assembly Systems, based on the principles of decentralization, context-awareness and intelligent resources, that is implemented using intelligent agent technology and a data distribution service. The paper presents the Arithmetic and logic Unit (ALU) of a prototype programmablelogic Controller (PLC), implemented in an FPGA device. The PLC implements on the machine language level a subset of the instruction set defined in the EN 61131-3 norm. The design was prepared as a set of synthesizable Verilog. and VHDL models. The ALU can execute 32 operations, which include the basic logic operations, comparators. and the four basic arithmetic operations. The operations can be performed for fixed-point, and floating-point numbers. All the operations are implemented fully in hardware, so the solution is fast. The paper discusses the design process of a programmablelogic controller implemented by means of FPGA device. Designed PLC is to be compliant with EN 61131-3 standard. Different aspects of instruction list and hardware architecture designing are presented. e.g. PLC structure with particular emphasis on central processing unit or memory map. Conclusions on an EN 61131-3 Standard are also shown. The developed PLC is implemented using FPGA device. This gives opportunity to develop interesting solutions. For example, using dual port RAM gives us opportunity to develop bit/word access without necessity of masking bits. Up to date FPGA devices have also disadvantage - there arc no tri-state buffers inside. This is the reason for using multiplexers that control traffic on busses. The paper deals with the methodology of creation of sequential control system programs in the language of function block diagrams (FBD). After analyzing basic blocks of the sequential functions chart (SFC) language, the form of state block and implementation of branching or connecting paths of sequences are formulated using the FBD language. It is a simplification of the application of the SFC language. Our method of creating the sequential system ensures a compact form of the final program and is particularly useful for small PLC controllers. This paper presents an approach for exploiting multicore hardware architectures on coding level for the IEC 61131-3. An interface between the IEC 61131-3 code and software of a different programming language outsources the actual parallel workload. For validation purpose, an embedded multicore hardware is used as a controlling device, which executes software for the use case of model based condition monitoring. The case study results show an explicit benefit of the multicore exploiting software in comparison to its singlecore counterpart, which is reflected with a faster processing of up to a factor of 3. Overall, this approach can be used for developing high performance applications or for accelerating existing applications in industry.

Industrial control systems (ICS) are integral components of production and control processes. Our modern infrastructure heavily relies on them. Unfortunately, from a security perspective, thousands of PLCs are deployed in an Internet-facing fashion. Security features are largely absent in PLCs. If they are present then they are often ignored or disabled because security is often at odds with operations. As a consequence, it is often possible to load arbitrary code onto an Internet-facing PLC. Besides being a grave problem in its own right, it is possible to leverage PLCs as network gateways into production networks and perhaps even the corporate IT network. In this paper, we analyze and discuss this threat vector and we demonstrate that exploiting it is feasible. For demonstration purposes, we developed a prototypical port scanner and a SOCKS proxy that runs in a PLC. The scanner and proxy are written in the PLC's native programming language, the Statement List (STL). Our implementation yields insights into what kinds of actions adversaries can perform easily and which actions are not easily implemented on a PLC.
