Research On Transmission Control Method Of Tension Tower Hydraulic Tension Device Based On PLC

Using the traditional method to control the transmission process of the tension tower hydraulic tightening device, there is a problem of slow speed step response in the range of device operating speed from 12km/h to 32km/h. For this reason, this paper designs a programmable logic controller-based transmission control method for the hydraulic tightening device of the tension tower. The two-phase static coordinate system is introduced to obtain the voltage equation, flux equation, electromagnetic torque equation and electromechanical motion equation of the hydraulic drive system, and then the mathematical model of the hydraulic drive system is constructed. The full-order observer is regarded as an adjustable model, the appropriate Lyapunov function is selected, and the function stability of the full-order observer is derived, so as to realize the identification of the speed of the tension tower hydraulic tightening device. Based on this, a transmission control model is constructed based on programmable logic controller to realize the transmission control of the tension tower hydraulic tightening device. Experimental results prove that the speed step response rate of this method is higher than that of the traditional method, and the response performance is improved.

The growing interest with the developments of renewable sources owing to less environmental pollution creates challenges for the grid operators. Virtual Power Plant (VPP) is a novel concept that will integrate the small distributed energy resources and will act as a single conventional power plant in the electricity market. As a core energy management system in VPP, the energy should be dispatched optimally for achieving the maximum profit. Therefore, smart energy management is developed in this article of VPP with programmable logic controller (PLC) and Internet of Things (IoT) in a unified market environment that integrates the DA and RT market. The cost characteristics for the interruptible load, battery storage system are modelled individually. The PLC and IoT based automation is proposed for optimal dispatch strategy of VPP. The proposed scheme can efficiently handle the energy demand for the VPP domain. Four different scenarios are considered with different loading conditions for validation of the concept of smart energy management. The profitability for each scenario is shown with the experimental results.

A process calculus approach to detection and mitigation of PLC malware

We define a simple process calculus, based on Hennessy and Regan's Timed Process Language, for specifying networks of communicating programmable logic controllers (PLCs) enriched with monitors enforcing specification compliance at runtime. We define a synthesis algorithm that given an uncorrupted PLC returns a monitor that enforces the correctness of the PLC, even when injected with malware that may forge/drop actuator commands and inter-controller communications. Then, we strengthen the capabilities of our monitors by allowing the insertion of actions to mitigate malware activities. This gives us deadlock freedommonitoring: malware may not drag monitored controllers into deadlock states. Our enforcing monitors represent a formal mechanism for prompt detection of malicious activities within PLCs. Finally, we illustrate our results by implementing in Simulink a non-trivial Water Transmission Network (WTN) system, and testing the effectiveness of our monitors in detecting and mitigating three different attacks targeting the PLCs of our WTN. PLC based fractional-order PID temperature control in pipeline: design procedure and experimental evaluation

Fractional-order control system design can be used for systems with non-local dynamics involving long-term memory effects. However, implementation of a fractional-order controller in industrial systems is complicated, because of the excessive demand for computational power. The following paper presents the step-by-step design procedure, parameter tuning, and experimental evaluation of the fractional order proportional-integral-derivative (FOPID) controller. The control algorithm is based on the Continued Fraction Expansion approximation of the fractional-order operators. It is implemented on a standard industrial programmable logic controller. The FOPID control system is verified and evaluated in terms of efficiency and robustness using a new laboratory benchmark of a temperature control in the pipeline. The proposed solution shows increased efficiency in terms of robustness compared to the standard PID closed-loop control.

PANDA experimental database and further needs for containment analyses

PANDA is a large-scale, multi-compartment, thermal-hydraulics facility located at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in Switzerland and is operated for nuclear safety projects. PANDA is continuously upgraded with new components and instruments to meet the requirements of each new project. The modularity of the facility and its instrumentation provide unique opportunities to perform experiments ranging from basic containment phenomena studied mainly in a single vessel to integral behavior of Passive Containment Cooling Systems (PCCS) requiring up to six PANDA vessels and four passive condensers (PCCs, IC) submerged in four water pools. Experimental data analyses are performed using system codes, lumped parameter (LP) severe accident codes and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) codes. In this paper, we provide an overview of the PANDA experimental database and identify further data needs for containment analyses, considering the main results of recently completed PANDA projects.

A comprehensive test system for proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) is designed and developed for monitoring and controlling the inlet and outlet parameters and safety issues of fuel cells. The data acquisition and output instruction rely on the connection between PLC (programmable logic controller) and OPC (object linking and embedding for process control). Based on Siemens S7-200 series PLC and PID (proportion integration differentiation) technology, the margin of error in relative humidity of inlet air is controlled at less than 0.7%. Furthermore, a hydrogen recycling system and an alarm module are introduced, considering the hydrogen or nitrogen solenoid valve power failure, cooling fan power failure, temperature anomaly, and hydrogen leakage. This developed test system is evaluated by the experimental investigation of PEMFC performance. The results show that the test system has very good test and control performances. At a cell temperature of 40 degrees C, enhanced performance in the polarization tests is depicted at a high humidification temperature of 60 degrees C.

In cable production, it is imperative to control speed and tension. This paper proposes a web tensile force regulation between input and output pulling caterpillar devices. The web tensile force is controlled indirectly using a PI controller based on feedback information about tensile force using a tensile observer. This paper also deals with the regulation speed of the input-pulling caterpillar device and the speed and torque (current) of output pulling caterpillar device and deals with the effect of line speed on the temperature change at the extruder zones. The input and output-pulling caterpillar devices are connected by the web material that is processed on them. The task was realized using a programmable logic controller Micrologix 1200 controller and SIMOREG DC drives, which regulate the input caterpillar's speed and output caterpillar's torque. The identification of separately excited DC motors parameters was made. Models for the input, output caterpillars and web zone were simulated in MATLAB and SIMULINK. The controllers of the current loop, velocity loop, and tension loop are all integral isolated PI regulators. Speed signal is obtained by tacho generator. In practical realization, tensile force is observed directly from the Simoreg DC converter, eliminating the tension sensor. The tensile force controller is realized with the PI controller, which was realized with programmable logic controller. Setting optimal parameters is performed using ITAE criteria. The ITAE function is calculated using a complex Simpson's quadrature formula.

In this research, a method was developed for utilizing voice commands with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, which are commonly utilized in industrial automation. This approach incorporates artificial intelligence to enable human-machine interaction, aligning with the trends of Industry 4.0. A deep neural network was specifically designed for speech recognition, eliminating the need for reliance on any pre-existing speech-to-text engines. The objective was to create a model that is accurate and compact in size, making it suitable for embedded systems within industrial systems. To train the deep learning network, 21,600 sound files were generated. These files combined real factory noise with a synthetic dataset of human speech, forming a dataset comprising 60 different classes of voice commands. These commands encompassed actions like starting, stopping, and operating at various speeds for 10 motors controlled by the automation system. After applying the Mel-frequency cepstral coefficient (MFCC) to the voice commands, the resulting data was directly fed into the proposed network. The network achieved an impressive accuracy rate of 99.73%. Notably, the proposed network outperformed even networks several times its size.

The implementation of an alarm system was carried out to protect a submersible pump whose purpose is to maintain the river water supply of a company in Cusco. The guidelines of the PMBOK, which is the main book of the PMI, were used. Within the development of the project, there are 5 phases: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring-control, and finally, closure. In the initial phase, interested parties will be determined, and the project charter will be drafted. In the planning phase, requirements gathering, design, analysis, risk management, and project schedule will be carried out. The execution phase will be carried out within the agreement with the interested parties, where the implementation of the project itself will be developed under the supervision of the project director. Progress in the monitoring and control phase will be monitored and controlled according to the schedule. Finally, in the Closing phase, what was requested by the interested parties can be compared with the final results. According to the results obtained in the initiation and planning phase, it is evident that there will be better remote control and monitoring of the submersible pump alarm system, minimizing unexpected stops. Therefore, it is concluded that by using Logo Soft Comfort tools such as Logo Web Editor and Logo Access Tool, monitoring and control screens can be developed and alarm reports generated to make assertive decisions, either for preventive or corrective maintenance of equipment, thus minimizing unwanted events that could affect the water supply from the river to the plant.

Industrial Control System (ICS) that run large-scale systems such as water, power and manufacturing are increasingly in focus given high profile attacks against such infrastructures. These systems are connected to IT systems and the Internet, the intersections of their users - typically control systems engineers and operators with security requirements and systems add to the complexity of the threats faced by these environments. The challenges of usable security in IT systems have been studied extensively, including work on security-usability threat modeling (i.e. lack of usability exacerbating security issues). However, no work has examined similar challenges within ICS settings where, in addition to the regular requirements of information confidentiality, information integrity and information availability, requirements such as process safety, process integrity and process reliability are paramount for the users. Using the case of a programmable logic controller (PLC), we detail the workflow that the user undertake for a security task. We analyze this workflow using STRIDE, an established threat modeling approach. We then map the threats against an existing security-usability threat model for IT systems whilst also taking into account the specific process-related requirements critical to ICS users. We then derive an initial security-usability threat model for ICS as a first step towards further work in this regard.
