Maze algorithm can identify connected relation of a single node in ladder diagram of programmable logical controller, from which serial or parallel connections between pairs of attached nodes derive. After uniting serial or parallel relation of each node, serial or parallel connections of all nodes are stored in binary trees. Scanning binary trees can generate instruction lists. Maze algorithm identifies the connected relation of ladder diagram node correctly and ensures the correctness of translating ladder diagram into instruction lists.

The 1 000 ton's extruder is a piece of main equipment to produce graphite electrode. It is a bigger system, its working procedure is very complicated, and it is difficult to be controlled by conventional control method, thus the PLC has been used to control the extruder and both automatic and manual control have been implemented. There are 38 inputs, 33 outputs and two analog signals in the system. PLC in FX2 series of MITSUBISH was adopted : basic unit FX2 - 48MR, extend unit FX2 - 48ER, and analog module FX - 4AD. Because of process complexity and speciality, a mixture method of ladder chart and state transfer chart has been explored to program. This method makes the program programmable, adjustable and readable.

A general purpose computer aided control system design package called SIMART has been developed from the available control theory. It can be used as a learning basis for advanced control and as a control engineering framework and it has already been successfully used in realistic simulation environments as well as real time experiments involving several laboratory pilots that have been interfaced with PC computer through using 10 cards, namely Lab Master, Alliance, RTI and PC Lab. An industrial interface of SIMART has been recently developed from a programmable logical controller “PMX série 7" of the Schneider Automation company. This is our modest contribution to the transfer of advanced control in the real world life which we aim to present in this paper. An application is reported to demonstrate the feasibility of our advanced control approach.

An ordinary Petri-net (PN) based approach is proposed to design the programmable logical controller (PLC) for preventing collisions between vehicles in an automated guided vehicles (AGV) system. First, method is proposed to model an AGV system as an ordinary PN, called the plant PN. Second, for collision prevention in an AGV system, module control methods are proposed to design the PN supervisor (the closed-loop PN) by augmenting the plant PN. In detail, three modules are defined the line, divide, and merge modules, in the plant PN, and the control module methods are presented for each of these three modules. As a result, the closed-loop PN of an AGV system is obtained and can be analyzed using the PN theory. Finally, method is proposed to translate a closed-loop PN into a ladder diagram. Consequently, the PN supervisor is implemented by a PLC using these proposed methods. A laboratory AGV system is used to illustrate this approach.

An ordinary Petri-net (PN) based approach is proposed to design a programmable logical controller (PLC) that prevents collisions among vehicles in an automated guided vehicle (AGV) system. First, a procedure is proposed to model an AGV system as a control-hardware PN. Second, a method is formulated to design a PN supervisor (the closed-loop PN) for collision prevention. This paper defines the line, merge, divide and intersection alignments, and then adds the transitions and arcs for these four alignments into the control-hardware PN, respectively. As a result, a closed-loop PN is obtained as the supervisor for preventing collisions among vehicles in an AGV system. Finally, a method is introduced to automatically translate a closed-loop PN into a ladder diagram by Boolean expressions. Consequently, the closed-loop PN can be implemented by a PLC. An example is used to illustrate this methodology.

Experimental study of heat transfer characteristics in oscillating fluid flow in tube

In the present work, an experimental investigation of heat transfer enhancement parameters of the oscillating flow heat exchanger under different frequencies, tidal displacement, and heat fluxes is carried out. The effect of different parameters on experimental effective thermal conductivity and convective heat transfer coefficient in cooling region is studied using correlations given by different researchers. A correlation for experimental effective thermal conductivity in terms of S-2 is derived based on experimental data. This correlation is useful for predicting the optimum value of S-2 before onset of turbulence.

A Boolean algebra algorithm suitable for use in temperature-humidity control of a grafted seedling acclimatization chamber

The objective of this paper was to link a psychometric chart and Boolean algebra algorithms on deducing the procedural and logical issues of temperature-humidity environmental control for a grafted seedling acclimatization chamber. We developed a condition-sequence control circuit based on Boolean algebra algorithms to solve the complex logical problem existing in temperature-humidity environmental control procedures. A Matlab program was used to deduce and simplify the Boolean relations between input and output logical variables of the controller, whereas the correctness of Boolean function was verified by an Excel program. The Boolean functions were firstly transformed to switching (logical) circuits and subsequently transformed to a programmable logical controller (PLC) program systematically. We implemented the developed industrial wiring devices and PLC in designing a temperature-humidity environmental controller of an acclimatization chamber for grafted seedlings in that we adopted the nonlinear control technique associated with the condition-sequence control methodology as the main control scheme. On the other hand, we adopted the compound control action, two-position set point action, the time-delay control and the conditional action of free cooling as the main control operations for the controller. Our results demonstrate that the overall seasonal survival rate was 97% by using the Boolean algebra-based controlled chamber grafting, which was higher than that of 90% by employing the field grafted seedling operations. (Re)deployment of Smart Algorithms in Cyber-Physical Production Systems Using DSL4hDNCS

Intelligent algorithms and learning are the basis for evolving smart cyber-physical production systems (CPPSs) and Industrie 4.0. A smart image detection algorithm shall be added to reduce downtime due to the extended operation of glass bottles in a yogurt producing plant. To support the engineers in doing so, a comprehensive domain-specific language (DSL), DSL4hDNCS, is introduced, enabling rapid analysis, addressing hardware/software architectures and network-related delays and uncertainties. DSL4hDNCS is defined by a metamodel to avoid ambiguity and enriched by aspects, such as safety, calculation power, and network transmission time. DSL4hDNCS is used to compare (re)deployment alternatives using different technologies, such as edge, fog, and cloud to implement the additional smart algorithm. The evaluation of DSL4hDNCS using an acknowledged Industrie 4.0 demonstrator plant as a case study confirmed the benefit for engineers during the redesign.

It becomes a tendency that the application of copper pipe and aluminum pipe welding joints in the field of refrigeration. Based on analysis of Cu-Al pipe welding process, a PLC automatic control system was developed to accurately control the resistance welding machine. The executive mechanism is composed of pneumatic components and controlled by the PLC system to complete the Cu-Al pipe welding process. Under the PLC control, the welding time parameter can be changed, according to the pip size. And the time error of the control system is limited in 0.01s. When the coil temperature rises up to 90 degrees C or the network voltage fluctuates more than +/-10%, the control system alarms the operator and the welding process can not be started.
