Voltage control has become a significant challenge with the increasing penetration of renewable energy sources (RESs) in active distribution networks (ADNs). Variations in the output power of wind and photovoltaic (PV) units can lead to voltage drops or voltage rises in different buses of the network. Also, there are continuous variations in the load demand of the network. These issues necessiate appropriate coordination of voltage-control equipment to prepare optimal operation for ADN. Regarding voltage-dependency of load demands, this paper proposes an optimal conservative voltage reduction (CVR) strategy to improve efficiency and scheduling of ADNs. This strategy is designed with the coordinated operation of on-load tap-changer (OLTC), energy storage systems (ESS), switchable capacitor banks (SCBs), and RESs. The problem is modeled as a mixed non-linear programming (MINLP) and implemented in the GAMS environment. The efficiency of the proposed method is evaluated by applying it on the IEEE 33-bus system in different cases where the results show improved network performance and operating parameters.

We reveal that sputtered HfO x , which has been often neglected in resistive random access memory (RRAM) design, can be an alternative for highly reliable and fast (< 100 ns) analog synapses to accelerate training algorithms. The sub-stoichiometric HfO x , enables rapid current update owing to the abundant oxygen vacancies (V 0 ). Additional HfOy layer with increased stoichiometry makes uniformly distributed Vo profile across the entire HfOy/HfO x RRAM stack, enhancing reliability in dynamic synaptic operation, where multiple pulses are continuously addressed. This not only results in robust device-to-device/cycle-to-cycle uniformity, but also ensures multilevel retention, which is further validated by real-time transient current analysis.

This paper presents a home energy management system that optimizes the electricity demand of home appliances according to demand response programs. This home is equipped with renewable energy, including wind turbines and solar panels. The uncertainty of renewable energy is modeled using stochastic programming. Different types of loads have been used in this home, and the mentioned loads have been properly adjusted and distributed to minimize the cost of energy and deal with fluctuations in renewable energy. An improved Artificial Bee Colony algorithm has been used to solve this problem. The results confirm that the introduced model can efficiently harvest all possible energy of the wind-solar system, manage uncertainty, minimize cost, and operate independently of the grid. These goals are achieved through the complex coordination of load management strategies in the proposed load response framework, which leads to an efficient and flexible energy management system. The numerical results reported in this paper show the effectiveness of the proposed method. The proposed plan is generally usable and valuable for any other type of smart home.

In current society, plagiarism of material from external sources is common and claiming it as one’s own is considered a serious offense, particularly in academic settings. Plagiarism has become a significant issue among students at all levels-undergraduate, postgraduate and even doctoral. This paper addresses the specific challenge of plagiarism in computer programming assignments, where students frequently blend and modify original solutions to produce fraudulent work. To address this issue, a system has been proposed that enables teachers to efficiently check for plagiarism with a single click by uploading a folder of submissions. Although various software tools have been developed to detect plagiarism, there has been limited evaluation of their effectiveness in accurately identifying the true authorship of submitted work. Our approach leverages artificial intelligence algorithms to break down submitted articles into smaller sections and compare them against existing databases. This research aims to effectively identify and recognize instances of plagiarism while preventing potential copyright issues. Beneficial interactions of rhizosphere microorganisms are widely exploited for plant biofertilization and mitigation of biotic and abiotic *** provide new insights into the onset of the roots–beneficial microorganisms interplay,we characterised the transcriptomes expressed in tomato roots at 24,48 and 72 h post inoculation with the beneficial fungus Trichoderma harzianum T22 and analysed the epigenetic and post-trascriptional regulation *** detected 1243 tomato transcripts that were differentially expressed between Trichoderma-interacting and control roots and 83 *** transcripts that were differentially expressed between the three experimental time *** with Trichoderma triggered a transcriptional response mainly ascribable to signal recognition and transduction,stress response,transcriptional regulation and *** tomato roots,salicylic acid,and not jasmonate,appears to have a prominent role in orchestrating the interplay with this beneficial *** regulation of many nutrient transporter genes indicated a strong effect on plant nutrition processes,which,together with the possible modifications in root architecture triggered by ethylene/indole-3-acetic acid signalling at 72 h post inoculation may concur to the well-described growth-promotion ability of this ***,***-induced defence priming and stress tolerance may be mediated by the induction of reactive oxygen species,detoxification and defence genes.A deeper insight into gene expression and regulation control provided first evidences for the involvement of cytosine methylation and alternative splicing mechanisms in the plant–Trichoderma interaction.A model is proposed that integrates the plant transcriptomic responses in the roots,where interaction between the plant and beneficial rhizosphere microorganisms occurs.

This work addresses the problem of reducing the Sim2Real gap of vacuum grasping for physics-based simulated environments. We introduce a grasp contact computational model, integrating it into the recently proposed Nvidia Isaac Sim robotics platform. The proposed approach enables realistic assessment of the seal formation between the gripper’s suction cup and the object of interest, enhancing the simulation of gripper-object attaching and detaching behavior. We define five conditions that must be satisfied to accurately replicate realistic seal formation between the gripper and the object, using a quasi-static spring model for the suction cup and custom rules to detect holes and bulges on the object’s surface. This enhancement is essential for complex object geometries, where default grasp contact models fail to account for seal loss due to surface discontinuities. The grasp contact model is compared to the default Surface Gripper in Isaac Sim. Simulations and real-world experiments show that our approach outperforms the default model in accurately reflecting the real seal formation in the presence of holes, bulges and discontinuities of the object’s surface. As AI continues to grow, modern applications are becoming more memory and computation intensive, driving the development of specialized AI chips to meet these demands. AMD Versal ACAP devices serve as a promising heterogeneous solution for continuous compute scaling. However, heterogeneity presents challenges not only in achieving high-performance mapping solutions but also in providing a programming abstraction that ensures high productivity. If these challenges are not effectively addressed, they will hinder the widespread adoption of these heterogeneous architectures by experts from other domains beyond hardware expertise. We are among the first to explore efficient mapping solutions for this heterogeneous system. We propose a series of works (FPGA'23 [1], DAC‘23 [2], TRETS‘24 [3], FPGA‘24 [4], TCAD‘24 [5]), which thoroughly investigate the design space for modern transformer-based workloads by mapping different layers to various system components, such as CPUs, FPGAs, and AIEs, while analyzing the trade-offs between latency and throughput. Additionally, to significantly enhance programming productivity on these heterogeneous systems, we are the first to introduce ARIES (FPGA'25 [6] Best Paper Nominee), a multi-level intermediate representation (MLIR)-based compilation framework that proposes a unified intermediate representation (IR) for the end-to-end application deployment on AIE architectures.

String constraint problems faced by program analysis tools are pervasive in programming, but datasets built specifically for real-world string constraints are rare. To understand the complexities of string-related constraints, we propose StriCT-BJ, a String_Constrain T Benchmark from Java. The data are extracted from popular real-world Java programs with string-related operations. We then evaluate the dataset using popular constraint solvers, identifying instances of divergent performance among the solvers with potential explanations. Our research highlights challenges in string constraint solving for program analysis, with a benchmark dataset for further development and evaluation of constraint solvers and program analysis tools.

This paper proposes a novel content-centric framework for joint content update, push, and delivery in wireless caching networks. We employ a two-stage transmission strategy by grouping users based on their distribution locations and content caching status of the content server (CS). Users can be served either by the base station (BS) through multicast transmission or by the CS covering them and caching the requested contents. The content update scheme is designed based on the caching function that takes the request popularity and file size into account. Afterwards, the content push and delivery process is conducted in two stages. In the first stage, the requested and updated contents for multicast groups and the CS are delivered, while the CS harvests energy by employing the function of simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT). In the second stage, the CS serves its covering users utilizing non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) transmission. Based on the proposed caching and transmission designs, we formulate the sum rate optimization problem, which is challenging due to its non-convexity. Thereafter, we convert it into a convex second-order cone programming problem using semi-definite relaxation (SDR), successive convex approximation (SCA), and other approximation techniques, and solve it with CVX solvers. Simulation results exhibit the fast convergence property of the proposed algorithm and demonstrate the advantages of our twostage content transmission approach, particularly in terms of the content hit rate and the sum rate.

In recent years, the advent of photonic integrated circuits (PICs) has demonstrated great prospects and applications to address critical issues such as limited bandwidth, high latency, and high power consumption in data-intensive systems. However, the field of physical design automation for PICs remains in its infancy, with a notable gap in electronic layer layout design tools. Current research on PIC physical design automation primarily focuses on optical layer layouts, often overlooking the equally crucial electronic layer layouts. Although well-established for conventional integrated circuits (ICs), existing EDA tools are inadequately adapted for PICs due to their unique characteristics and constraints. As PICs grow in integration density and size, traditional manual-based design methods become increasingly inefficient and sub-optimal, potentially compromising overall PIC performance. To address this challenge, we propose PICELF, the first framework in the literature for automatic PIC electronic layer layout generation. Our framework comprises a nonlinear binary programming (NBP)-based netlist generator with scalability optimization and a two-stage router featuring initial parallel routing followed by post-routing optimization. We validate our framework's effectiveness and efficiency using a real PIC chip benchmark established by us. Experimental results demonstrate that our method can efficiently generate high-quality PIC electronic layer layouts and satisfy all design rules, within reasonable CPU times, while related existing methods are not applicable.
