Advances in cytology have led to the application of a wide range of visualization methods in plant genome studies. Image analysis methods are indispensable tools where morphology, density, and color play important roles in the biological systems. Visualization and image analysis methods are useful techniques in the analyses of the detailed structure and function of extended DNA fibers (EDFs) and interphase nuclei. The EDF is the highest in the spatial resolving power to reveal genome structure and it can be used for physical mapping, especially for closely located genes and tandemly repeated sequences. One the other hand, analyzing nuclear DNA and proteins would reveal nuclear structure and functions. In this chapter, we describe the image analysis protocol for quantitatively analyzing different types of plant genome, EDFs and interphase nuclei. less

In the recent past, intragenic microRNAs (miRNAs) have gained significant attention. Due to the unique linkage to their host gene’s transcription, these miRNAs offer more information than intergenic miRNAs as they associate with some of their hosts’ properties. However, genome wide analysis of intronic miRNA data can be very challenging, especially if it relies on Web-based tools only. We therefore describe in this chapter how to set a database and how to link the different publicly available information resources on miRNAs and host genes. We also provide an example of a simple, but useful analysis technique. The basic structures and ideas suggested in this chapter can easily be extended to integrating other data and be applied to different analysis techniques. less

The existence of a great diversity of commercial CAD/CAM products, having equivalent usage features, generates difficulties for the companies in order to choose the most suitable product for theirs specific needs. On the other side, the 'well-known companies ' software product proposals require substantial investments for acquisition and nominated users training. Therefore, in the case of the small and medium enterprises, it is recommended the development of customized solutions for automatic generated NC programs, using shareware graphical libraries like 'Open ' type (OpenGL, OpenCascade) and a proper programming language for graphical applications. On the ground of this major objective, this study is proposing an informatic system for automatic generating NC programs. Construction equipment production rates are considered an influential factor in construction projects' success as 30-40% of construction cost overruns are attributed to insufficient equipment production rates. The tower crane is one of the heavy construction equipment , its production rate has a huge impact on the construction project's performance. Current estimations of the tower crane production rate on construction sites are not backed by a universally accepted , applicable methodology. However, vision-based technologies have been utilized recently for determining the production rates of construction equipment. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to develop a vision-based research framework (VRF) with a user-friendly interface for a practical and speedy measure of tower crane actual cycle time on construction sites. The software will be developed based on eight single object tracking detection free algorithms. Moreover, the VFR will be evaluated by measuring tower cranes' cycle time in two case studies in Egypt. For each case study, five videos were recorded for the tower cranes. The cycle time in each video was measured by using manual inspection and by the VRF. The VRF achieved high accuracy in tracking the cycle time for the tower crane in the two case studies.
