After describing the characteristics of programming paradigm, this paper introduces the approach of code component composition reuse in detail, proposes and discusses viewpoint that code component composition reuse is a kind of new programming paradigm. This paper also specifies the characteristics of this new programming paradigm in detail, and points out some issues that must be resolved for using this new programming paradigm.

Mobile device has fewer resources compare to desktop computers. Mobile application development is in the need of appropriate strategies in view of resource utilizations. Although some other design strategies are required for software development, programming paradigm is the core. The overall aim of this study is to formulate the programming paradigms whereby achieve the optimal resource utilizations by mobile applications. As a part of this objective, this paper aims to determine whether the improper use of programming paradigm concepts consume more memory and / or CPU time. Imperative programming paradigm concepts have been used as a sample for this study. Imperative programming concepts such as looping, branching and arrays have been experimented. The results of the experiments and case studies proved that, improper use of programming concepts lead to more memory consumptions and/or take more time to response. In conclusion use of appropriate paradigms in mobile application design possibly will optimize the response time and memory utilization.

The Compute Aggregate model used to model Map Reduce does not allow for dynamic node reordering once a job has started, assumes homogenous nodes and a balanced tree layout. We introduce heterogeneous nodes into the tree structure, thereby causing unbalanced trees. Finally, we present a new programming abstraction to allow for dynamic tree balancing.

The advances in computing and communication technologies and software tools have resulted in an explosive growth in networked applications and information services that cover all aspects of our life. These services and applications are inherently complex, dynamic and heterogeneous. In a similar way, the underlying information infrastructure, e.g. the Internet, is large, complex, heterogeneous and dynamic, globally aggregating large numbers of independent computing and communication resources, data stores and sensor networks. The combination of the two results in application development, configuration and management complexities that break current computing paradigms, which are based on static behaviors, interactions and compositions of components and/or services. As a result, applications, programming environments and information infrastructures are rapidly becoming fragile, unmanageable and insecure. This has led researchers to consider alternative programming paradigms and management techniques that are based on strategies used by biological systems to deal with complexity, dynamism, heterogeneity and uncertainty. Autonomic programming paradigm is inspired by the human autonomic nervous system that handles complexity, uncertainties and abnormality, and aims at realizing computing systems and applications capable of managing themselves with minimum human intervention. The overarching goal of the autonomic programming paradigm is to help building systems and applications capable of self-management. In this thesis we focus on the Self-optimizing, and Self-Configuring properties of the autonomic system. Firstly, we investigated the large-scale scientific computing applications which generally experience different execution phases at runtime and each phase has different computational, communication and storage requirements as well as different physical characteristics. This papers targeted scientists and programmers who need to easily develop and run e-science applications on large scale distributed systems. We present a rich programming paradigm and environment used to develop and deploy high performance applications (HPC) on large scale distributed and heterogeneous platforms. We particularly target iterative e-science applications where (i) convergence conditions and number of jobs are not known in advance, (ii) jobs are created on the fly and (iii) jobs could be persistent. We propose two programming paradigms so as to provide intuitive statements enabling an easy writing of HPC e-science applications. Non-expert developers (scientific researchers) can use them to guarantee fast development and efficient deployment of their applications.

Context-aware application should behave suitably according to the changing context of the pervasive computing environment. Several programming paradigms and languages have been proposed to facilitate development of context-aware application, but they are either lack of sufficient flexibility or somewhat complex to program. A table-driven programming paradigm is proposed in this paper to overcome shortcomings of those approaches. Virtual tables constructed and maintained by system connect knowledge of both developer and space manager while separate dependency between context and application logic from base program. Validation and evaluation show that the paradigm is easy to be implemented and deployed, meanwhile brings better usability and adaptability.

A Fine-grained Task Based Parallel programming paradigm of Gauss-Jordan Algorithm

Large scale matrix inversion has been widely used in many scientific research domains. As a classical method of large matrix inversion, block-based Gauss-Jordan (BbGJ) algorithm has aroused great concern among many researchers. Many people have developed parallel versions of BbGJ. But large granularity based task parallelism (intra-iterative data dependence based tasks parallelism) disables mapping more tasks on computing resources simultaneously. As a result, the performance of those parallel versions degrades when running on the Grid platform consisting of a lot of heterogeneous PCs and workstations. So this paper presents a fine-grained tasks based parallel BbGJ algorithm (Max-par BbGJ) in which both intra-iterative and inter-iterative based data dependences are considered. According to the analysis of data dependence in BbGJ, a global flag is adopted to control all the data dependence during the process of algorithm execution. The flag can be presented as a three-tuple. At the beginning, all the logical values of those three-tuples are set as false. When the logical value of the three-tuple becomes true, the tasks decided by the three-tuple can be executed immediately and simultaneously. Max-par BbGJ aims at achieving maximum parallelism of different parts of tasks. To evaluate its performance, YML a new high-level parallel programming tool, is introduced for its series of good features, such as components reuse, extreme ease-of-use and platform-independence. Grid environments are based on Grid' 5000 platform in France. Experiments illustrate that the better performance can be achieved through making more tasks executed simultaneously in the Max-par BbGJ. The time needed using Max-par BbGJ can save about 30% than that using conventional one. At the same time, experiments also validate that though a little overhead existing, YML is still an acceptable and easy-to-use tool for scientific researchers especially for those non-professionals to make large scale comput

The widespread applications of the wireless Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the leading factors in the emerging of Big Data. Huge amounts of data need to be transferred and processed. The bandwidth and latency of data transfers have posed a new challenge for traditional computing systems. Under Big Data application scenarios, the movement of large scales of data would influence performance, power efficiency, and reliability, which are the three fundamental attributes of a computing system. Thus, changes in the computing paradigm are demanding. Processing-in- Memory (PIM), aiming at placing computation as close as possible to memory, has become of great interest to academia as well as industries. In this work, we propose a programming paradigm for PIM architecture that is suitable for wireless IoT applications. A data-transferring mechanism and middleware architecture are presented. We present our methods and experiences on simulation-platform design, as well as FPGA demo design, for PIM architecture. Typical applications in IoT, such as multimedia and MapReduce programs, are used as demonstration of our method's validity and efficiency. The programs could successfully run on the simulation platform built based on Gem5 and on the FPGA demo. Results show that our method could largely reduce power consumption and execution time for those programs, which is very beneficial in IoT applications.

QCCP: a taskflow programming model for emerging computing scenario

As the demand for computing power continues to rise, it is difficult for a single type of computing device or architecture to satisfy the current situation. Diversity and heterogeneity are becoming more and more popular. Seamlessly integrating the realms of high performance computing and quantum computing, and harnessing their collective potential, has emerged as a consensus approach to effectively address the pressing need for increased computing power. In the emerging computing scenario, various different types of computing devices have super-heterogeneous characteristics, and there are significant differences in computational principles, programming models, parallelism, etc. Effectively harnessing these disparate resources and achieving a unified programming paradigm have become urgent imperatives. To address the above problems, this paper introduces QCCP, a taskflow programming model that enables efficient collaborative computing between classical computers and quantum computers. QCCP establishes a unified programming abstraction, shields the super-heterogeneous characteristics of the underlying network and hardware, and supports flexible scheduling for different computational backends. The experimental results indicate that QCCP can support the processing of hybrid classical-quantum applications with diverse program structures. In particular, QCCP reveals its immense potential and superiority in tackling real-world challenges, specifically in the realm of quantum circuit cutting and reconstruction.
