Recent advancements in deep learning have profoundly impacted various domains, including software development. This research primarily focuses on converting natural language descriptions into executable code—a transformative technique that converts natural language descriptions into executable code. Leveraging the T5 along with its specialized variant, CodeT5, this work aims to enhance developer productivity and code quality. To fine-tune these models, we utilize the MBPP (Mostly Basic Python programming) benchmark dataset, ensuring their proficiency across diverse programming tasks. Traditional software development demands significant manual effort and technical expertise. Automating code generation from natural language inputs streamlines workflows, reduces errors, and democratizes coding. T5, originally designed for text-to-text tasks, and CodeT5, tailored for code intelligence, form the foundation of the robust text-to-code generation system. Through extensive mixed precision training, XLA compiler optimization, and distributed techniques, the model performance could be maximized. The MBPP dataset encompasses a wide range of Python programming problems, enabling our models to learn and generalize across various coding scenarios. We’ve developed utility functions and custom training loops to facilitate efficient data loading, model configuration, and training management. Assessments across various prediction tasks reveal the models’ effectiveness in generating precise and functional code snippets from natural language inputs. Practical applications of this research include integration into Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) for real-time code suggestions, educational tools for programming instruction, and assistance in maintaining and refactoring legacy codebases. Our work underscores the transformative potential of natural language-to-code generation by demonstrating the performance of this model where it could be understood code quality is outstanding,

In an increasingly tech-based world, the integration of programming education at a global scale plays a crucial role in equipping students for the future. programming languages such as Scratch, Alice, and Blockly have been available for some time and have effectively used visual and intuitive interfaces in introducing beginners to basic concepts in coding. However, with the emergence of Large Language Models like GPT-4, the vision of programming education is to evolve into real-time, contextual support and personalized feedback that makes them understand even better, improves problem-solving skills, and increases engagement. The synergy between blocks and LLMs facilitates an accessible, interactive, and highly supportive environment for learning among children. In this paper, we critically analyze block-based programming and LLMs to determine which offers a more advanced and impactful approach to the programming education of children. This review illustrates how these technologies supplement and compete with each other, shaping the future landscape of programming education by equipping the next generation with critical technological skills. We highlight the ethical concerns that might arise for LLMs. We point out how LLMs may adopt several strategies to address and counter such ethical challenges.

AI dominance is far and wide in education domain. It helps the teaching fraternity to automate most of their monotonic tasks. There is very serious research going on to find the reliability and capability of the LLM tools in assessing the students' exams. The evaluation process of the lab exams is a time consuming and sensitive task, particularly that involves a programming component in it. A team of researchers from University of Technology and Applied Sciences study the capabilities of both human and ChatGPT in evaluating the lab exam of Web Development course which involves HTML coding part in it. The team involved 22 students, who completed an 11-hour training in web development and conducted a lab exam for them. A clearly defined rubric was prepared for the evaluation purpose of this exam. Each student answer file was evaluated by 3 people, human, ChatGPT with Zero-Shot Learning (No rubrics) and ChatGPT with One-Shot Learning using a common rubric. Fleiss' Kappa calculation is used to measure the agreement among the evaluators. It is observed that the Fleiss' Kappa score is 0.506, indicating moderate agreement among Assessors. Still, this can be considered as a relatively high agreement among the raters, at the same time there is room for achieving higher agreement among the raters. Overall, the study concludes that when the assessment is based on the correct answer, the difference in evaluation is less compared to the partial and incorrect answers.

This study presents the process of design, development and analysis of a SCADA system for fluid control, in a pumping station, implemented using modern programming environments and simulation platforms. The developed system integrates manual and automatic control functionalities, monitoring via level sensors, as well as automatic switching between main and backup pump in case of technical faults. Integration with SQL Server provides efficient storage and processing of operational data. The web-based application provides visualization of results for tracking and analysis of workflows. The development is applied in the training of students from the bachelor and master courses of electronics, providing them with the opportunity for in-depth learning of the theoretical basics and acquiring practical skills in modern SCADA technologies.

The introduction of robotics in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education is quickly becoming a very polarizing topic. As a discipline, robotics research is tackling new and challenging problems that resonate with public perception and also provide exciting and fun opportunities to see science in action. The exposure of students at various levels to robotics is controversial since many view it as a fad, and others rightly indicate that there is still a need for coherent analysis of robotics in the classroom to assess the impact on education and engagement. In this work, we argue that for robotics to be effectively incorporated into the educational pipeline, there is a need for a comprehensive robotics curriculum. Such a curriculum should be designed to be intentionally flexible; however, its development would enable principled study in a variety of learning environments and over the long term. We propose the nature of the standard curriculum and present recommendations on how it can be practically applied. Our aim in the long term is to provide resources that will elevate robotics education. The existence of these resources will advance the current level of understanding from anecdotal and short-lived inquiry so that robotics education can be evidence-based and sustainable.

The effect on software fault tolerance of hardware features such as hierarchical privilege levels (rings), the use of descriptors for memory protection, separated virtual address spaces, and ring crossings that enforce specific energy points is considered. A strategy that uses a separate programming layer, the recovery layer, to handle fault-tolerant aspects of process interactions is discussed. The recovery metaprogram (RPM) which monitors the run-time behavior of the application program and coordinates error detection, recovery, and reconfiguration, is examined, focusing on privilege levels, which provide protection against error propagation, RMP implementation, and conversations. The intel 80286 has been used as a sample implementation vehicle, but most of the discussion applies to any machine with a similar range of features. Extension to multiprocessor systems is indicated.

Shared memory consistency models: A tutorial

The shared memory programming model has several advantages over the message-passing model. To write correct and efficient shared memory programs, programmers need a precise notion of shared memory semantics. The memory consistency model of a shared memory multiprocessor formally specifies how the memory system will appear to the programmer. The memory consistency model is an interface between the programmer and the system, so it influences not only how parallel programs are written but virtually every aspect of parallel hardware and software design. A memory consistency model specification is required at every interface between the programmer and the system. At each level, the memory consistency model affects both programmability and performance. Furthermore, due to a lack of consensus on a single model, portability can be affected when moving software across systems supporting different models. Unfortunately, the vast Literature that describes consistency models uses nonuniform, complex terminology to describe the large variety of models. This makes it difficult to understand the often subtle but important differences among models and leads to several misconceptions. This article describes memory consistency models in a way that most computer professionals can understand. The focus is consistency models proposed for hardware-based shared memory systems. Most of these models emphasize the system optimizations they support, and the authors retain this system-centric emphasis in this article.

It is shown, in the context of an actual prototype VLSI CAD framework called Cbase, how concepts such as data abstraction, property and operation inheritance, object specialization/generalization, code reusability, and polymorphism offered by object-oriented database management systems (OODBMSs) support rapid prototyping. The work was conducted on Vbase, a commercially available OODBMS, but the results and conclusions apply to any database with comparable capabilities. To implement the prototype user interface, the X11 toolkit, a windowing package that is also built around the object paradigm, was used.
