IEC TR 80002-3:2014 which is a technical report (TR), provides the description of software life cycle processes for medical devices. The medical device software life cycle processes are derived from IEC 62304:2006, with corresponding safety classes. They have been aligned with the software development life cycle processes of ISO/IEC 12207:2008 and are presented herein in full compliance with ISO/IEC 24774:2010. The content of these three standards provides the foundation of this TR. This TR does not: - address areas already covered by existing related standards, e.g. the international standards that relate to the four standards used to build this TR (see Bibliography);- FDA guidance documents;or - software development tools. This TR describes the process reference model for medical device software development and is limited in scope to the life cycle processes described in IEC 62304:2006. The process names correspond to those of IEC 62304:2006. The mappings provided in Annex B are essential for the alignment between IEC 62304:2006 (which is based on ISO/IEC 12207:1995) and ISO/IEC 12207:2008, developed to address the detailed normative relationship between the two standards. This technical report is not intended to be used as the basis of regulatory inspection or certification assessment activities.

In recent years, many programming models, software libraries, and middleware have appeared for processing large graphs of various forms. However, there exists a significant usability gap between the graph analysis scientists, and High Performance Computing (HPC) application programmers due to the complexity of HPC graph analysis software. In this paper we provide a basic view of Exedra, a domain-specific language (DSL) for large graph analysis in which we aim to eliminate the aforementioned complexities. Exedra consists of high level language constructs for specifying different graph analysis tasks on distributed environments. We implemented Exedra DSL on a scalable graph analysis platform called Dipper. Dipper uses Igraph/R interface for creating graph analysis workflows which in turn gets translated to Exedra statements. Exedra statements are interpreted by Dipper interpreter, and gets mapped to user specified libraries/middleware. Exedra DSL allows for synthesize of graph algorithms that are more efficient compared to bare use of graph libraries while maintaining a standard interface that could use even future graph analysis software. We evaluated Exedra's feasibility for expressing graph analysis tasks by running Dipper on a cluster of four nodes. We observed that Dipper has the ability of reducing the time taken for graph analysis when the workflow was distributed on all four nodes despite the communication, and data format conversion overhead of the Dipper framework.

The Internet of Things (IoT) integrates wireless sensors to provide online and real-time access to the state of things and places. However, many interesting real-world states are difficult to detect with traditional scalar sensors. Tiny wireless camera sensor nodes are an interesting alternative as a single camera can observe a large area in great detail. However, low image resolution, poor image quality, and low frame rates as well as varying lighting conditions in outdoor scenarios make the detection of real-world states using these lousy cameras a challenging problem. In this paper we introduce a framework that addresses this problem by providing an end-to-end solution that includes energy-efficient image capture, image enhancement to mitigate low picture quality, object detection with low frame rates, inference of high-level states, and publishing of these states on the IoT. The framework can be flexibly configured by end-users without programming skills and supports a variety of different applications.

Advances in microelectronic devices have dissolved the boundary between software and hardware. Since hardware circuits are generally faster and enable significantly broader parallelism to be provided, a number of recent research works are dedicated to high-performance computations in electronic systems without direct use of processing cores which introduce a number of constraints (e.g. pre-defined size of operands, pre-given sets of instructions, limits for concurrency and parallelism, etc.). This paper suggests a regular way enabling methods and functions from general-purpose languages to be converted to hardware implementations. Consequently, such conventional programming techniques as hierarchy, recursion, passing arguments, and returning values were entirely implemented in hardware modules. The resulting circuits are faster than their software alternatives and this is confirmed by examples and numerous experiments from different application areas.

Scalable analysis of massive graphs has become a challenging issue in high performance computing environments. ScaleGraph is an X10 library aimed for large scale graph analysis scenarios. This paper evaluates scalability of ScaleGraph library for degree distribution calculation, betweeness centrality, and spectral clustering algorithms. We make scalability evaluation by analyzing a synthetic Kronecker graph with 40.3 million edges (for all the three algorithms), and a real social network with 69 million edges (for degree distribution calculation) on Tsubame 2.0 distributed memory environment.
