The theory of compressive sensing enables accurate and robust signal reconstruction from a number of measurements dictated by the signal's structure rather than its Fourier bandwidth. A key element of the theory is the role played by randomization. In particular, signals that are compressible in the time or space domain call be recovered from just a few randomly chosen Fourier coefficients. However, in some scenarios we can only observe the magnitude of the Fourier coefficients and not their phase. In this paper, we study the magnitude-only compressive sensing problem and in parallel with the existing theory derive sufficient conditions for accurate recovery. We also propose a new iterative recovery algorithm and study its performance. In the process, we develop a new algorithm for the phase retrieval problem that exploits a signal's compressibility rather than its support to recover it from Fourier transform magnitude measurements.

The contribution of this paper is twofold. We first clarify geometrically an inherent difference in convergence speed between two adaptive algorithms, projected-NLMS (PNLMS) and constrained-NLMS (CNLMS), both of which are widely used for linearly constrained adaptive filtering problems. A simple geometric interpretation suggests that CNLMS converges faster than PNLMS especially in the challenging situations of the adaptive beamforming where there exist spatially-correlated interferences (i.e., interferences that have small angular separation with the desired signal). To enhance the advantage of CNLMS in convergence speed while keeping linear computational complexity, we then propose an efficient adaptive beamformer that utilizes multiple data at each iteration by extending the constrained parallel projection algorithm to complex cases. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed beamformer exhibits even faster convergence than the constrained affine projection algorithm (CAPA) as well as CNLMS

This paper proposes a novel method of reconstruction of vessel axis on the matching of iterative projection algorithm and analyzing of corresponding points. The 3-D space is divided into several cubes. The cubes are projected in the actual projection directions separately. If a cube-projection includes vessel axis points, it is believed that the cube includes 3-D vessel. Then we divide the cube into several smaller cubes and repeat above process until the needed precision is reached. An approximate 3-D model of vessel axis is constituted according to projections of the cubs. The corresponding relationships of vessel axis between different direction projections are analyzed according to the approximate 3-D axis model. Then we can constitute the accurate continuous 3-D vessel axis by interpolation method. We use an actual DSA sequence as the experimental data and the result is satisfactory

Point based rendering techniques have recently become a promising alternative for high quality rendering of complex scenes. In order to handle a high number of points, the current graphics cards structure has to be analyzed for efficient exploitation of the hardware resources available. In this context, the real time perspective projections become a challenge because of the reduced number of dividers available in the graphics cards and their recursive structure. In this paper, we present a point projection algorithm that avoids the division operations. The technique we propose is based on the identification of the candidate pixels on the screen, and the selection of the correct one through simple comparison operations. The simplicity of the algorithm we propose permits the utilization of different projection units operating in parallel. We also present a scheduling that permits the introduction and efficient exploitation of a pipelined system. The algorithm is regular, simple, and characterized by efficient data management so that the processing rate is directly associated with the number of projection units employed. As a result, real time performance for the projection operations, even for critical scenes, can be achieved.

This paper introduces a constrained version of the recently proposed set-membership affine projection algorithm based on the set-membership criteria for coefficient update. The algorithm is suitable for linearly constrained minimum-variance filtering applications. The data-selective property of the proposed algorithm greatly reduces the computational burden as compared with a nonselective approach. Simulation results show the good performance in terms of convergence, final misadjustment, and reduced computational complexity.

Bistatic forward-looking low frequency ultrawideband synthetic aperture radar (UWB SAR) has the complicated range-azimuth coupling, which limits the application of frequency-domain algorithms. In this paper, an extended fast back-projection algorithm is presented to focus the bistatic forward-looking low frequency UWB SAR data. First, the imaging geometry and signal model are established. Then, the phase error of the fast back-projection (FBP) algorithm for processing the bistatic forward-looking SAR (BFSAR) is analyzed, and the implementation of the FBP algorithm is given. Finally, the simulation experiment is carried out to prove the validity of the proposed approach.

It is well known that fast affine projection algorithms can produce a good trade-off between convergence speed and computational complexity. Recently, a multichannel fast affine projection algorithm was introduced for active noise control, using a sliding window recursive least- squares algorithm inside the affine projection algorithm. It was reported that not only can this algorithm provide the expected tradeoff between convergence performance and computational complexity, it can also provide the best convergence performance (even over more complex recursive least-squares algorithms) when non-ideal noisy acoustic plant models are used in the adaptive noise control system. In this paper, we propose a multichannel fast affine projection algorithm for active noise control systems, with a lower complexity and the potential for a better numerical stability than the previously published algorithm. The new algorithm is based on the Gauss-Seidel fast affine projection algorithm. The computational complexity of the new algorithm is evaluated, and it is shown through simulations that the new algorithm provides the same good performance as the previously published algorithm.

The paper proposes a robust and stable fast affine projection algorithm based on the Gauss-Seidel method, the so called modified Gauss-Seidel fast affine projection algorithm. The proposed algorithm is generalized for simplified Volterra filters as well. The computational complexity of both the modified Gauss-Seidel fast affine projection algorithm and its generalization for simplified Volterra filters is derived and their performance for acoustic echo cancellation is assessed.

Adaptive modeling of digital hearing aids is useful in characterizing the hearing aid behavior in response to “real world” stimuli such as speech and music. Most modern hearing aids employ amplitude compression in different frequency bands for effective mapping of the wide dynamic range audio signals into the reduced dynamic range of the hearing impaired listeners. Due to the presence of independent compression channels, the conventional fullband adaptive model might not adequately characterize the performance of a multichannel compression hearing aid (MCHA). In this paper, we propose a subband adaptive modeling approach to characterize the electroacoustic performance of a MCHA. The proposed structure employs uniform, oversampled DFT filterbanks for analysis and synthesis, and the affine projection algorithm for adaptive modeling in each subband. Experiments with simulated MCHAs showed that the subband structure outperforms the fullband structure under a variety of operating conditions.

In this paper the concepts of selective partial updates (SPU) and selective regressors (SR) in the affine projection (AP) adaptive filtering algorithm are combined and the family of affine projection algorithms with SPU and SR features are established. These algorithms are computationally efficient. We demonstrate the performance of the presented algorithms through simulations.
