In order to take advantage of adaptive transmission techniques or multiple antennas, it is necessary to have actual channel state information (CSI) at transmitter and/or receiver. Due to system constraints and the time varying nature of the mobile radio channel, the CSI might be outdated, leading to performance degradation of the system. Channel prediction can provide up-to-date channel state information and reduce capacity loss. This paper presents a channel predictor based on the set-membership affine projection filtering involving an OFDM system. Realistic physical channel model used for standardization is considered to evaluate the performance of the predictor and compare it to well-known adaptive algorithms NLMS and RLS. Simulation results also show the bit-error rate performance and the robustness of the proposed predictor under the specifications of 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE).

In this paper we propose a robust affine projection algorithm (APA) which enforces the control of the regularization parameter based on the feedback of the condition number (CN) of the matrix inversion required to implement the AP algorithm. The CN-based regularization helps reducing the EMSE, and may also bound the inversion errors introduced in finite precision computations. The CN is determined via a computationally efficient method, resulting in little additional computational cost over the standard APA. Simulations show that when the input signal is highly colored, the proposed algorithm outperforms the standard isin-APA with fixed regularization, as well as other recently proposed APA variants.

The main emphasis of the paper is to present the concepts of displacement structure theory and how these are applied to the APA context.

The blind channel estimation using oblique projection of MIMO-OFDM system is proposed in this paper. It is introduced firstly of the channel model and receiving-data model. The fundamental principle of oblique projection is considered roughly and the oblique projection algorithm on how to estimate the channel matrix and the ambiguous matrix are both particularly analyzed. The simulation results show that the estimation performance of the oblique projection algorithm with lower computational complexity is close to that of subspace decomposition algorithm.

If the data are prewhitened, then gradient adaptive algorithms which are simpler than higher order statistics algorithm, can be used in blind equalization. In this paper, we propose a subband affine projection algorithm with improved convergence performance and reduced computational complexity for multiple-input multiple-output equalization in the blind environments. All of the adaptive filters in subband affine projection equalization are decomposed to polyphase components, and the coefficients of the decomposed adaptive subfilters are updated by defining the multiple cost functions. An infinite impulse response filterbank is designed for the data prewhitening. Prewhitening data through subband filtering can speed up the convergence rate without additional computation. Simulation results are presented showing the proposed algorithm's convergence rate and constellation equalization performance.

A widely linear affine projection algorithm (WL-APA) utilising the full second order statistical information in the complex domain Copf is proposed. It is based on recent developments in augmented complex statistics, CopfRopf calculus, and the widely linear modelling in Copf, making it suitable for the processing of noncircular complex valued signals. Simulations on circular and noncircular benchmark and real-world noncircular wind signals show the effectiveness of WL-APA as compared to standard APA.

A new set-membership affine projection (SM-AP) algorithm for adaptive filtering applications is proposed. The new SMAP algorithm eliminates the error-bound estimation problem of the conventional SM-AP algorithm. The poor tracking performance in nonstationary environments of the conventional SM-AP algorithm is also considered. A solution to this problem is proposed by incorporating a switching mechanism in the proposed SM-AP algorithm. The new SM-AP algorithm has better convergence efficiency and yields lower misadjustment than the conventional AP algorithm. On the other hand, with the switching mechanism it has better convergence efficiency and yields lower misadjustment than the conventional SM-AP algorithm in nonstationary environments.

This paper proposes a new class of algorithms to compute the projection onto the set of images with a total variation bounded by a constant. The projection is computed on a dual formulation of the problem that is minimized using either a one-step gradient descent method or a multi-step Nesterov scheme. This yields iterative algorithms that compute soft thresholding of the dual vector fields. We show the convergence of the method with a convergence rate of O(1/k) for the one step method and O(1/k 2 ) for the multi-step one, where k is the iteration number. The projection algorithm can be used as a building block in several applications, and we illusrtate it by solving linear inverse problems under total variation constraint. Numerical results show that our algorithm competes favorably with state-of-the-art TV projection methods to solve denoising, inpainting and deblurring problems.

This paper presents a high-throughput, low-latency, hardware-efficient fixed-point implementation of the fast affine projection (FAP) algorithm. The proposed architecture utilizes reusable distributed arithmetic (RDA) in combination with optimizations in the update process to enable the coefficients to be updated in a fixed number of cycles independent of filter length. Fixed-point simulations show that the effect of replacing some of the multiplications with arithmetic shifts is minor, with RDA-FAP maintaining a faster convergence rate than NLMS. The proposed design is also compared against a multiplier-based design in terms of number of computations and number of clock cycles needed for a single FAP update cycle.

In this paper, a novel structure is proposed in order to improve the functionality of Adaptive Noise Cancellers (ANC); for this purpose Affine projection Algorithm (APA) has been used. We exploit the Stationary Wavelet Transform (SWT) to decompose the input signals in subband to achieve a higher convergence rate. The reason of using SWT (an oversampled filter bank) is to reduce the effect of aliasing which produces some disturbance on the adaptive process. Since In the higher frequency subbands, there is no noticeable difference between APA and simpler approaches such as spectral subtraction or Wiener filter, these algorithms are substituted instead of APA for the sake of complexity. Simulation results show that the proposed ANC performance is better than the conventional ANC which uses adaptive algorithm in the time domain. . The results of subjective and objective tests confirm this fact.
