Investigations show that the rehabilitation of cerebral stroke patients depends on their psychological condition in particular. Therefore, studying psychological condition of cerebral stroke patients is very important. Psychological characteristics analysis of cerebral stroke patients now becomes the hot domain in biomedical field. In this paper, we propose the key indexes on cerebral stroke patients based on these characteristics, including emotion, depression, and anxiety etc. According to these indexes we build a detailed mental scale. Using the scale we can obtain a norm of cerebral stroke patients. Based on the norm we propose a kind of generalized linear regression model with convex constraint, in which the dependent variable and regression coefficients all are unknown. We give the least square estimation of parameters using the alternating projection algorithm between two convex sets. After getting the solution of the evaluation model we can realize the evaluation cerebral stroke patients. Our work may give a useful tool for evaluation and a precondition for deep research of the cerebral stroke patients.

Evaluation index system is necessary for the urban fire risk assessment. According to the actual situation, this paper established the fire risk possibility and seriousness evaluation index system which laid the foundation for fire risk assessment. At the same time a special summary of indexes, where the summary coefficient is calculated in accordance with samples instead of the prior designated, is discussed. The least squares estimation of the model is given by the interactive projection algorithm between the convex set and the maximum likelihood estimation is made by using EM algorithm, so as to provides a new analysis method for urban fire risk evaluation index system.

This paper provides an analysis of the steady-state behavior of the filtered-x affine projection algorithm (FXAP). This efficient affine projection (AP) algorithm for active noise control (ANC) applications is based on the filtered-x scheme, unlike most AP algorithms based on the more computationally demanding modified filtered-x scheme. This study depends on energy conservation arguments and does not require an specific signal distribution. The theoretical expressions derived for the mean square error (MSE) allowed to accurately predict the steady-state performance of the FXAP for meaningful practical cases. Simulation results of a single-channel ANC system validate the analysis and the theoretical expressions derived.

To improve PSNR performance of alternating-projection demosaicing algorithm, the estimated initialization of alternating-projection algorithm that based on pre-estimating the minimum square error is meliorated in this paper. The improved algorithm is compared with other typical demosaicing approaches by testing the twenty-four Kodak set (6) images. The PSNR of the improved algorithm is better than other typical methods, and the interpolated artifact is found to be less. The experimental results prove that the improved algorithm is with best PSNR and the least interpolated artifact. The performance of alternating-projection algorithm can be improved by mending the initialization.

This paper presents an analysis of the steady-state mean-square error of an adaptive filtering algorithm using the metric projection onto a closed hyperslab, which we refer to as the hyperslab projection algorithm (HSPA). HSPA is not only a generalization of both the normalized least mean square (NLMS) algorithm and the set-membership NLMS (SM-NLMS) algorithm but also a special case of the adaptive parallel subgradient projection (PSP) method. It is known that HSPA possesses both fast convergence and robustness against noise. The approach of this paper is to employ the energy conservation relation, which enables us to avoid the transient analysis of HSPA. Under different assumptions, we obtain two results, which are generalizations of well-known results of the steady-state performance of NLMS. Extensive simulations show the good match between the theories and experiments.

This paper proposes an affine projection adaptive filtering algorithm incorporating a data selection strategy based on the set-membership concept along with a partial update technique. The resulting algorithm is flexible in the sense that it allows more general tradeoff between speed of convergence and misadjustment while constraining the overall computational complexity. Simulation experiments in a typical echo cancellation environment confirm the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

This paper presents an affine projection algorithm (APA) with a large number of input vectors at the first stage and with a small number of input vectors at the second stage, where the transition is performed by using the criterion for computing the optimum number of input vectors in the dynamic selection APA (DS-APA). The proposed algorithm has fast convergence at the first stage and a small steady-state estimation error at the second stage, which performs like APAs with the selective input vectors including DS-APA. However, the proposed algorithm has only two fixed numbers of input vectors and low complexity, which is more applicable for hardware implementation comparing to APAs with the selective input vectors. Simulations illustrate the performance of the proposed algorithm.

The objective of this work is to derive a QP algorithm tailored for MPC. More specifically, the primary target application is MPC for discrete-time hybrid systems. A desired property of the algorithm is that warm starts should be possible to perform efficiently. This property is very important for on-line linear MPC, and it is crucial in branch and bound for hybrid MPC. In this paper, a dual active set-like QP method was chosen because of its warm start properties. A drawback with classical active set methods is that they often require many iterations in order to find the active set in optimum. Gradient projection methods are methods known to be able to identify this active set very fast and such a method was therefore chosen in this work. The gradient projection method was applied to the dual QP problem and it was tailored for the MPC application. Results from numerical experiments indicate that the performance of the new algorithm is very good, both for linear MPC as well as for hybrid MPC. It is also noticed that the number of QP iterations is significantly reduced compared to classical active set methods.

Recently, a fast converging algorithm for use in network echo cancellers called proportionate normalized least mean squares (PNLMS) has been proposed [1]. In comparison to the normalized least mean square (NLMS) algorithm, PNLMS has got fast initial convergence speed and tracking when the echo path is sparse. The idea behind PNLMS was to update each coefficient of the adaptive filter independently of the others by adjusting the adaptation step-size in proportion to the magnitude of the estimated filter coefficient. Unfortunately, when the echo path becomes dispersive, the PNLMS algorithm converges much slower than NLMS. In many simulations, it seems that PNLMS has an advantage only when the impulse response is close to a delta function. More recently, an improved PNLMS (IPNLMS) was proposed [2]. It performs better than both NLMS and PNLMS algorithms. In this paper, generalization of the reliable method from the IPNLMS algorithm to a proportionate affine projection algorithm (PAPA) [3] is presented. Simulations with real speech signals show that proposed algorithm (improved PAPA) is better than NLMS, PNLMS and IPNLMS and not dependent on the nature of the impulse response.
