This paper presents a novel Fuel Cell (FC) model parameters estimation method based on a Genetic Algorithms (GAs) heuristic optimization approach, a theoretical model and experimental measurements. The experimental behaviour of the FC is reproduced by an hardware emulator controlled to generate the FC I-V characteristic by means of a Ballard Mark V model. The close match between experimental measured results and those achieved by the same model with optimized unknown parameters shows that the use of the proposed strategy is an effective and consistent method for parameters identification and for correctly modelling the behaviour of the fuel cell system. It also proves the reliability of the designed hardware emulator. Significant improvements in terms of identification accuracy and reasonable optimization time are also achieved using the Search Space Reduction Method (SSRM).

In this paper, a compact model for phase change memory (PCM) based on carrier transport mechanism is presented. In this model, the set and reset resistances of the cell are calculated through the traditional transport theory and the hopping transport theory respectively, coupling with the temperature and the phase-change kinetics calculation. With the temperature-sensing and storage module embeded, this model is effective in partial crystallization condition. The I-V performance and the R-I status are calibrated by experimental data and numerical simulation. This model is implemented in Verilog-A, making it easily applied to many circuit level simulation tools and useful to PCM design.

In order to calculate the temperature of the phase change memory (PCM) cell, a thermal physical model of the PCM device having Ge2Sb2Te5 (GST) layer has been proposed and demonstrated. By calculating and comparing with the Joule heating of the PCM cell at different programming state between based on the voltage - current curves and based on the formula to calculate temperature, it is found that the Joule heating increases with the amorphous fraction increasing.

This paper compares two control configurations for a fuel cell (FC)-battery powered hybrid system for the Metro-Centro tramway (800 kW) from Seville, Spain. Besides, modeling of each components is briefly presented. These models have been implemented in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (PEM) FC model used in the simulations realized is a simplification of Jay T. Pukrushpan et al. model. The model characteristics are selected from a Nuvera 127 kW PEM FC. Four of this PEM FC's are the primary energy source and a group of Ni-MH battery supplements the output of the FC during tramway acceleration or whenever else needed and provides regenerative braking energy recapture capability. Finally, the simulation results for both control configurations (States and Cascade Control Strategies) are presented for the real driving cycle of the tramway. The results demonstrate the hybrid system capability to meet appropriate driving cycle in both caseshese instructions give you basic guidelines for preparing camera-ready papers for conference proceedings.

Ge2Sb2Te5 (GST)-based phase-change random access memory (PCM) cells were successfully fabricated by a standard 0.18 mu m complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) process. The bottom electrode contacts (BECs) of the PCM cells are tungsten heaters with hollow columns filled with SiO2 and Ge. An approach of multiple resistance states (MRSs) was demonstrated. It was revealed and simulated that the observed MRS, in fact, derives from the hollow tungsten BEC architecture. The variance of electrical resistance between the MRSs can be as high as two orders. With a proposed model, our research demonstrated a simple but applicable concept of building a more stable multiple storage (MS) PCM cell by simply tuning the contact area between the BEC and GST.
