Technology plays vital role in Media, Medical Healthcare Systems, Communications, Home Automation System, etc., Internet of Things is the latest trend used in healthcare monitoring *** devices gather and share information directly with each other and the cloud making it possible to collect, record and analyze data streams faster and more accurately. Healthcare management is one of the most promising applications of Information Technology. In the existing system patient is monitored using bedside monitoring station with wired sensors, which makes the patients to be periodically monitored by doctors/nurses. It is impossible to collect data for wider range and coverage of wireless network is not available. This paper proposes a cooperative approach for an automated Healthcare Monitoring System which uses sensors to measure various parameters of the patient like temperature, pulse and body movement using wireless communications. The patient's status will be recorded and stored on the cloud. This proposed system process the sensor data and provides a real time monitoring information about physiological conditions of a patient to the doctor, so that the Healthcare professionals can monitor and access patient's data from anywhere of the world at any time. It enables personalization of treatment and management.

In present day, most of the automobile manufacturers depend on active safety systems to prevent collisions because collisions and accidents increase day by day in automobiles. Research statistics reported that 20% of collision occurs due to driver’s fault in the event of driving. It also points out that the causes of fatality rate in vehicles are not only due to fault of the vehicles. The causes of accidents are mainly due to drivers faults in automobile such as health-related issues which are the foremost reason for the accidents. In this study, the proposed system is used to analyze the condition of the driver in the event of health issues while driving tends to warn the driver. The sensor is mounted in the steering wheel for sensing the pulse of the driver during driving. The driver positioning of hands or palm in steering wheel is sensed by the pulse sensor fitted on steering wheel and at the time of abnormality in driver’s pulse rate. The sensor alerts the driver and co-passenger by displaying warning signal in dashboard. The research is carried out especially for the taxi drivers prolong time and for the low-cost vehicles to prevent the fatality rate, injury and damage to the vehicle. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In this study, we introduce a highly flexible LC circuit-based wireless capacitive pressure sensor (CPS) that utilizes porous polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) as a dielectric layer, demonstrating its transformative potential in tactile sensing, physiological monitoring, and flexible electronics. To optimize sensor performance, various porous PDMS thin films (100 mu m) with different porosities (ranging from 0 % to 75 %) were prepared using a novel steaming method, and their properties were thoroughly analyzed using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and capacitance measurements. Remarkably, the sensor with a 75 % porous PDMS film demonstrated enhanced sensitivity up to 11 times compared to the 0 % porous (pristine) PDMS film when subjected to a 300 g weight. High sensitivities of 0.046 kPa"-1, 0.036 kPa"-1, and 0.028 kPa"-1 were attained for the pressure sensor in the pressure ranges of 0-9.8 kPa, 0-19.6 kPa, and up to 29.4 kPa, respectively. Additionally, a real-time resonance frequency analysis was conducted using a network analyzer, allowing the detection of tiny pressure changes in an artificial blood vessel. Finally, the flexibility of the wireless CPS was investigated by studying various parameters, including body temperature, facial expressions such as smiling, selected speech characters (M, N, T, L), and swallowing actions.

Lever-inspired triboelectric nanogenerator with ultra-high output for pulse monitoring

Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) have great potential to alleviate the energy crisis. The contact separation mode of TENGs is one of the most fundamental and common modes of working. For improving the output signal of contact separation TENGs, previous researchers have adopted strategies such as surface microstructure treatment, multilayer design, and additive pump design. All of these strategies aim to increase the surface charge. Here, we propose a new strategy aimed at increasing the charge transfer speed, provide new paths for improving the output signal, and develop a lever-inspired contact separation TENG (Li-TENG). The contact separation speed can be varied by changing the lever ratio. As the magnification increases from 22 to 50 times, the voltage of LiTENG increases from 91 V to 232 V. As self-powered pulse sensor, the Li-TENG measured a pulse signal of 12.3 V without surface microstructure treatment. This work shows great potential for improving the signal of contact separation TENG-based self-powered sensors and energy harvesting devices.

Graphene aerogel spheres (GASs), as one of the world's lightest materials, is promising for constructing high-performance flexible sensors. Here, we demonstrated the capability of this material for sensing temperature, pressure and material elasticity. Our sensor exhibits an excellent temperature sensing property with a temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of 2.2 % C-1, 5 times larger than that of commercial resistance thermometers. Due to the 3-D spherical shape, the GAS can detect forces in 360 from all directions. The GAS-based sensors exhibit an enhanced sensitivity of 0.15 kPa(-1), response and relaxation times of approximately 100 ms likely due to the unique micro/nanostructures of the GASs. Extraordinary cycling stability and long working life were also demonstrated even after large deformation. Assembling GASs with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), a flexible sensor was achieved with a large dynamic range from 4 mN to 2 N covering almost three orders of magnitudes. Moreover, we demonstrated three healthcare applications of GASs-based flexible sensors such as tissue elasticity sensing, finger posture sensing, and kinetic physiological signal monitoring. High-performance energy harvesting for human-sensing applications has been achieved through recent progress in piezoelectric-based wearable devices. Piezoelectric nanomaterials can be leveraged for flexibility and biocompatibility while also enhancing piezoelectricity. However, such nanomaterials exhibit low piezoelectricity, limits the industrial-scale development of highly efficient piezoelectric devices. Hence, design of novel materials to significantly enhance piezoelectricity is necessitated. Herein, we demonstrate that a peapod-inspired design in which ZnSnO3 anchored on surface-modified carbon nanotubes (CNT) allows significant enhancement of the piezoelectricity produced by poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-trifluoroethylene)-based (P(VDF-TrFE)-based) nanofibers (a piezoelectric material). The piezoelectric properties were exploited for the application of the as prepared nanofibers (NFs) in flexible NFs in energy-harvesting and pulse-sensing systems, which demonstrated high output power ((97.5 V and 1.16 mu A) as well as imperceptible pulse detection even in posterior tibial arteries. This work provides the scientific and engineering framework for delivering ZnSnO3-surface-modified CNT-P (VDF-TrFE) NFs excellent piezoelectric performance for use in piezoelectric devices.

Design and Development of Real Time Patient Monitoring System with GSM Technology

Technology keeps evolving every second. Humans receive all the essential information with just one touch. Be it the weather forecast or ordering any grocery or communicating with one's peers, everything happens so easily and efficiently. It is undoubtedly user friendly. When the same technology associates itself with the medical equipment it becomes easier to fetch and process the patient's data in real time. It also helps to make several life-saving, spontaneous decisions for the critical care. This paper talks about the patient monitoring system. The physiological parameters of the patient are continuously monitored in real time using sensors. The data that is obtained from the sensor is then sent to an Arduino Uno microcontroller where it is analyzed. If the patient's data differs from the required threshold values, an emergency message is sent to the assigned doctor's mobile. This is done using the GSM module which is interfaced with the microcontroller. Verifying the system in software is done using Proteus.

Heart-rate Monitoring System Design and Analysis Using a Nios II Soft-core Processor

The heart rate of a person is able to tell whether they are healthy. A heart-rate monitoring device is able to measure or record the heart rate of a person in real time, whether it is an electrocardiogram (ECG) or a photoplethysmogram (PPG). In this work, a microprocessor system loaded with a heart-rate monitoring algorithm is implemented. The microprocessor system is the Nios II processor system, which interfaces with an analogue-to-digital converter (ADC) and a pulse sensor. A beat finding algorithm is used in the microprocessor system for heart rate measurement. An experiment is carried out to analyse the functionality of the microprocessor system loaded with the algorithm. The results show that the detected heart rate is in the range of the average human being's heart rate. The signal flow within the microprocessor system is observed and analysed using SignalTap II from Quartus' software. Based on a power analysis report, the proposed microprocessor system has a total power dissipation of around 218.26 mW.

Many wearable devices have been developed with different technologies to track the fitness of human body. Smart watches, wrist bands, smart phones have been designed to support such applications. But many of them are unaffordable because of very high cost and high power *** paper deals with the design and development of a smart wearable device called "Fit-Wit" as this device will witness the fitness of an individual. This device informstheuser about their body temperature, heart-rate and motion. The device is based on Intel Genuino 101 development platform as it is specifically designed for wearable healthcare technology due to its small size and lower power dissipation. Effort is being taken to make this device simple, small size, portable and easy to use. Further, an analysis is conducted which ensures consistency and accuracy of the device.
