An algorithm for solving steady-state heat conduction problems in arbitrarily complex composite walls is presented. Per se, steady-state heat conduction across a wall can easily be solved by hand. Yet, in practical applications the wall structure is often complex enough to deter such an approach if a finer yet simple analysis of the thermal bridges is of interest. Moreover, if high-temperature applications are involved, the additional complexity of including time-dependent thermal conductivity must be considered. Thus, a general methodology for solving arbitrary topology walls, involving any kind of thermal resistances in series and in parallel is discussed. While such a problem is formally simple to solve for a given wall following the theory, its algorithmic generalization is not. A method is provided, involving a program written in python language. The focus of the work is mainly on the algorithmic point of view: a simple way for the assessment of the wall topology and for the resolution of the heat conduction problem originating is sought. Temperature-dependent thermal conductivity of the materials is addressed, resulting in the need of evaluating the heat fluxes and the average temperature at each thermal resistance. Design for additive manufacturing (DfAM) enables the design and fabrication of intricate but application-based functionally optimized geometries by reducing the manufacturing time. It also gave unlimited design freedom to alter any specific parameter and regenerate the design with improved mechanical properties. However, designing a complex and application-specific component needs comprehensive knowledge of drawing, intended usage, high expertise, and command of designing software with ample time. Mechanical springs, e.g., wave springs of uniform/complex shaped designs, consume a significant amount of manual hard work. A new design tool, WSdesign, is developed for constructing wave springs of different morphologies with uniform or varying design parameters or a combination of both. A graphical user interface (GUI) was developed in which the user can select the type of wave spring, which can be either uniform, functional gradient, or hybrid with parametric variation defined through python code. The code is directly run in Autodesk Fusion 360 software which is used to transform that code into a 3D model with all defined features and can be saved in different formats or can be directly printed. Two designs, i.e., rectangular and variable thickness wave springs, were designed each using WSdesign and SolidWorks (manual method), manufactured, and analyzed by performing uniaxial compression testing. The results were compared with each other which were further validated by finite element analysis and found that both design strategies have negligible variations. Furthermore, several designs of complex-shaped wave springs were successfully designed and manufactured using fused deposition modeling (FDM), stereolithography (SLA), and powder bed fusion (MJF) technology with different materials, resulting in a good surface finish, smooth printability, and less dimensional variation, which proves the versatility of WSdesign. An Algorithm to Optimize the Micro-Geometrical Dimensions of Scaffolds with Spherical Pores

Despite the wide use of scaffolds with spherical pores in the clinical context, no studies are reported in the literature that optimize the micro-architecture dimensions of such scaffolds to maximize the amounts of neo-formed bone. In this study, a mechanobiology-based optimization algorithm was implemented to determine the optimal geometry of scaffolds with spherical pores subjected to both compression and shear loading. We found that these scaffolds are particularly suited to bear shear loads;the amounts of bone predicted to form for this load type are, in fact, larger than those predicted in other scaffold geometries. Knowing the anthropometric characteristics of the patient, one can hypothesize the possible value of load acting on the scaffold that will be implanted and, through the proposed algorithm, determine the optimal dimensions of the scaffold that favor the formation of the largest amounts of bone. The proposed algorithm can guide and support the surgeon in the choice of a "personalized" scaffold that better suits the anthropometric characteristics of the patient, thus allowing to achieve a successful follow-up in the shortest possible time.

We discuss a few simple modifications to time-dependent density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) algorithms which allow to access larger time scales. We specifically aim at beginners and present practical aspects of how to implement these modifications within any standard matrix product state (MPS) based formulation of the method. Most importantly, we show how to 'combine' the Schrodinger and Heisenberg time evolutions of arbitrary pure states vertical bar psi > and operators A in the evaluation of < A >(psi)(t) = . This includes quantum quenches. The generalization to (non-)thermal mixed state dynamics < A >(rho),(t) = Tr[rho A(t)] induced by an initial density matrix rho is straightforward. In the context of linear response (ground state or finite temperature T > 0) correlation functions, one can extend the simulation time by a factor of two by 'exploiting time translation invariance', which is efficiently implementable within MPS DMRG. We present a simple analytic argument for why a recently-introduced disentangler succeeds in reducing the effort of time-dependent simulations at T > 0. Automated inverse analysis of a deep excavation in Ankara clay using finite element analysis

The objective of this study is to find out the constant that shows a linear relationship between the deformation modulus parameter of Ankara clay and SPT N-60 values by using Plaxis 2D software. During analyses, three constitutive models are used, those are Mohr-Coulomb (MC), hardening soil model (HS), and hardening soil model with small strain stiffness (HSsmall). For that purpose, reverse analysis of a 25.0-m deep excavation was done by comparing results with displacements taken from inclinometer measurements. Instead of using an idealized soil profile, soil layers are divided into 1.5-m thicknesses according to SPT N measurement depths;and for each interval, soil parameter correlation is performed. To minimize time loss, analyses were performed by writing a python code. Finally, results were evaluated by comparing soil models with each other, and it is found out that displacement curves of the MC model could not converge to the actual displacements. Analyses results of the HSsmall model are the closest displacements to the measured values on the site. Also, displacement curves of the hardening models (HS and HSsmall) are almost similar, and the linear correlation constant is found as E-50(ref) similar to 780xN(60) kPa for this excavation of the case study in Ankara clay in HS and HSsmall models.

Coastal water quality dynamics of the Red Sea, southeast coast of Egypt using GeoAI and ChatGPT

The Red Sea coastal environment of Halayeb and Shalateen area is renowned for its abundant marine flora and fauna. It also holds significant economic and cultural importance for local communities. However, this region is currently confronted with various challenges, including climate change and habitat destruction. To effectively address and mitigate these issues, advanced technologies that offer a holistic understanding of the area's environmental conditions are required. This paper applies the integration of Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) and ChatGPT to study the Red Sea Coastal water quality dynamics of Halayeb and Shalateen Area. Landsat imagery and Copernicus Marine Service were used to retrieve area boundaries and monitor the physicochemical characteristics of the coastal water respectively. ChatGPT was utilized to generate python code that facilitates the creation of optimal distribution maps for each physical and chemical property criterion. The python codes were incorporated into the python program within the ArcGIS 10.7.1 and executed to generate the desired maps representing the dynamics of physical and chemical properties. It was found an observed fluctuation in chemical properties next to the coastline around the mouth of two main wadies;Wadi Hudain, and Wadi Da'eb. The degree of stability increased away from the coast toward the deep water. That proved the effect of the runoff on the seawater, as the runoff plays an essential role in the water state, especially in such semi-closed water bodies like the Red Sea where the flashfloods are the main source that can enrich water with sediment and nutrients. The state of seawater in terms of physical properties was not characterized by a specific pattern. The distribution of physical parameters in the Red Sea is influenced by factors such as regional climate variations, monsoonal winds, and local topography. Transfer nodes are essential elements of public transport systems which provide door-to-door transport services for passengers. Parameters of the technological processes in public transport systems are stochastic variables, thus, computer simulations are usually used for solving optimization problems of public transport. There is a number of simulation tools supporting decision-making in public transportation, but they don't provide the flexibility for solving the transfer nodes optimization problems. Authors present a library of classes implemented in python, which could be used for computer simulations of public transfer nodes. The proposed software allows researchers to change technological parameters during simulation procedures and makes possible automatization of simulation experiments in the field of passengers' transportation. A method for estimation of fundamental frequency for tonal sounds inspired on bird song studies

In this work a simple implementation of fundamental frequency estimation is presented. The algorithm is based on a frequency-domain approach. It was mainly developed for tonal sounds and it was used in Canary birdsong analysis. The method was implemented but not restricted for this kind of data. It could be easily adapted for other sounds. python libraries were used to develop a code with a simple algorithm to obtain fundamental frequency. An open source code is provided in the local university repository and Github. The algorithm and the implementation are very simple and cover a set of potential applications for signal analysis. code implementation is written in python, very easy to use and modify. The optimum use of safety and economy in deep excavation design is possible with the selection of the appropriate system, and modelling of the selected system and soil properties properly. Therefore, soil parameters selection has a crucial effect in deep excavation analyses. The realistic estimation of the displacements with the finite element software is only possible by using the realistic deformation modulus values during analyses. However, in stiff clays for which undisturbed sampling is very difficult, displacements calculated with laboratory deformation modulus parameters may be higher than the measured values. Objective of this study is to determine the constant that shows linear relationship between SPT-N and deformation modulus parameter of Ankara clay by using three constitutive soil model of Plaxis-2D, namely Mohr-Coulomb (MC), hardening soil model (HS) and hardening soil model with small strain stiffness (HSsmall). For this purpose, back analysis of a 25 m deep excavation was performed by using inclinometer measurement results. To be more precise in numerical analysis, instead of using the idealized soil profile the soil is divided into layers according to SPT-N 60 measurements. Additionally, each displacement measured by the inclinometer along the depth is compared with the analysis results to minimize the error. In case trial-error method is used in the study, time loss and the possibility of not reaching the correct result were taken into consideration; therefore, the analysis was done by writing a python code. As a result of analyses, the soil models were compared with each other and it is concluded that displacements curves obtained from the MC model could not converge to the real displacements. HSsmall model results are closest to the real displacements. Moreover, displacement curves obtained from HS and HSsmall models are very close to each other, and the linear correlation formula is determined as E 50 ref =780xN 60 kPa for this excavation of the
