Evolutionary algorithms are a class of algorithms that try to mimic natural, biological evolution a la Darwinian natural selection, to compute solutions to a given problem. They are especially useful when no well known strategies for computing solutions to such a problem exist. Evolutionary algorithms begin by creating a collection (population) of candidate solutions to the problem at hand;and through repeated application of genetic operators such as crossover and mutation, they iterate over multiple generations of this population, until they eventually converge onto an attractive solution. One important problem facing code implementing Evolutionary Algorithms is that due to the dynamic nature of the individual chromosomes in a population, simple coding errors lead to complex bugs that are difficult to both diagnose and debug. This problem is only exacerbated when attempting to develop the algorithms in a dynamically typed language such as python. This paper presents a novel Evolutionary Algorithm framework for the python programming language that implements design-by-contract, a paradigm in which each function and class must follow a contractual set of pre-conditions and post-conditions. Failure to follow the contract causes an error condition identifying the violated clause, thereby catching bugs earlier in the development process and in a more descriptive manner.

This study provides an analysis of the prospects and priorities for the development of autonomous vehicles in the electronic age and their potential impact on solving the problems associated with road traffic injuries. The work highlights the need for priority development of unmanned vehicles as an essential element of modern society. The presented modified learning-capable fuzzy control module demonstrates its promise in solving the car parking problem by using the mean value binding function and the backpropagation algorithm to correct the network weights. The module's adaptability to different parking scenarios and its optimization based on supervised learning highlight its flexibility and accuracy in solving specific problems. Simulation of the module's operation for various initial vehicle positions confirms its ability to function correctly, which makes it a promising tool for automating the parking process, improving traffic safety and ensuring optimal vehicle control.

Simulations can play an important role in science education. Simulations (enabled by powerful numerical and visualization methods) are excellent tools for teaching optical phenomena. The advantages of using simulations as a tool for teaching optics include, amongst others, (1) giving students an engaging, hands-on active learning experience, (2) helping in understanding equations as physical relationships among experimental measurements and (3) allowing students to investigate phenomena that would not be possible to experiment on in a laboratory or classroom setting. We illustrate the utility of simulations in optics by describing some examples from geometric and physical optics using the open source programming language python.

In electric power systems, it is important to Identify weak buses for operational and planning purposes. The conventional methods for assessing voltage stability are time consuming because they are based on schemes that vary the reactive power at a load bus one at time, while keeping reactive power at all other buses constant. In this paper, a framework that uses the ratio of standard deviation to mean of the magnitude of voltage at load buses to identify weak buses is proposed. In the framework, reactive powers atl load buses are generated simultaneously based on probability distribution functions. The 39-Bus New England test system is used to test the framework in DigSilent Power-Factory in conjunction with python programming language. The result shows that weak buses can be identified with the proposed framework

Since the emergence of global epidemics such as SARS-CoV-2, H1N1, SARS and MERS, a wide range of systems for measuring temperature have been developed based on computer vision to reduce and prevent the virus contagious. By implementing a Raspberry-based Low-resolution embedded system based and a FLIR Lepton (R) sensor human body temperature is measured and improved by four different algorithms implemented. Firstly, three traditional time-series processes solving such as, Simple Mean (SM), Simple Moving Average (SMA), and Multi Lineal Regression (MLR), and secondly, and online filter-based Kalman predictor were implemented to increase the signal to noise ratio of the acquired temperature magnitude. Results of average prediction for different benchmarks demonstrate the best performance of Kalman Filter upon traditional processes. In addition, this algorithm achieves to smooth output temperature with fewer samples (similar to 10% of total samples) in comparison MLR and SMA. Finally, Raspberry-based Low-resolution Thermal image system is a feasible tool as a high-speed temperature estimator, by implementation of algorithms codified in python language.

Support of sustainable management of nitrogen contamination due to septic systems using numerical modeling methods

Nitrogen contamination is a serious concern to sustainable environmental management, and one important source of nitrogen contaminant is due to wastewater treatment using onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems (OSTDS, a.k.a., septic systems). This paper presents a study in which numerical modeling is used to support sustainable decision-making and management of nitrogen contamination by utilizing a recently developed GIS-based software, VZMOD, a Vadose Zone MODel for simulating nitrogen transformation and transport in vadose zone between drainfield of septic systems and water table. VZMOD is based on a physical model of unsaturated flow and nitrogen transformation and transport, and the model is solved numerically using the finite element methods. This is the major difference between VZMOD and other GIS-based software of nitrogen modeling. Using GIS techniques, VZMOD considers spatial variability of a number of hydrogeologic parameters such as hydraulic conductivity and porosity. A unique feature of VZMOD is that VZMOD addresses spatial variability of water table by using VZMOD together with ArcNLET, an ArcGIS-based software developed to simulate groundwater flow and nitrate load from septic systems to surface water bodies. VZMOD is designed to execute in different modes to be compatible with different levels of data availability in various management projects of nitrogen contamination. This paper presents an application of VZMOD at a neighborhood with hundreds of septic systems and heterogeneous hydraulic conductivity, porosity, and water table depth. The modeling results indicate that using septic systems at the considered neighborhood is unsustainable and more management means are necessary. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York.

The research deals with syntactic devices, namely linking words and their features in Bill Clinton's political speeches. Particular focus is placed on variations in the actual application of these features based on the unique aspects of the speaker's language. This subject is important for research because it reveals how a politician's words are utilized in a particular setting to develop power, influence, and control of the populace as well as how they are used to reveal a politician's objectives and ambitions. The analysis, systematization, categorization, and comparison of connecting terms based on Bill Clinton's speeches constitute the innovative aspect of this paper. The study's focus is on the structural-semantic models of Bill Clinton's English political speeches in terms of their dynamics. A python programming language program was created for this research. This program searches for and analyzes syntactic sentence models with a change in the order of components, namely linking words. Materials have been discovered in William Jefferson Clinton's book Speeches of President Bill Clinton, which includes 37 of the politician's speeches. The primary research techniques are theoretical, which include analyzing and synthesizing scientific literature to provide the theoretical framework for the study;comparative analysis to compare the devices used in speeches;synthetic analysis to examine the collection of components that make up the system;structural-semantic analysis to analyze semantics based on connections and relationships between linguistic elements;and political science research. The theme, aim, and objectives of this work have been defined in the introduction, along with its relevance, object, and subject. Consideration is given to the theoretical and methodological underpinnings of the analysis of contemporary political speeches. Therefore, in the present world, a high degree of speech culture is a need and essential component of every professional sector.

Scientists working on mathematical models want to concentrate on the design of models. They pay little attention to numerical methods such as the finite element method (FEM), their implementation and parallelization. The escript module in python provides an environment in which scientists can define new models using a language of partial differential equation (PDE) and spatial functions which is natural for the formulation of continuous models. This approach defines a high level of abstraction from the underlying data structures and frees modelers from issues of optimized implementation and parallelization. In its current implementation escript evaluates expressions which define PDE coefficients immediately for all nodes or elements of an FEM mesh. In the paper we will demonstrate that for complex rheologies such as the Drucker-Prager plasticity model, the memory requirements for this strategy are the limiting factor for scaling up the mesh size. The python module is backed by an escript C++ library where the processing is performed. We will discuss an new extension to the PDE coefficient handling provided by this C++ library which uses a lazy evaluation technique and will demonstrate the efficiency of this new extension in terms of compute time and memory usage for a practical engineering application, namely the simulation of elastic-plastic, saturated porous media. The paper is devoted to special features of the development of an application with a user interface for numerical analysis using OpenFOAM, an open source software environment (SE), in different industrial lines: rocket engineering, automobile, engine-building, aerospace. OpenFOAM is widely applied in the engineering design of products to simulate processes, typical for these products, e.g., the simulation of aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, mechanics of a deformable solid body. OpenFOAM has a key disadvantage: no user interface is available for the SE, all phases of numerical simulation are made with a console application. In the paper the authors analyze the available applications with the user interface, which can be used with OpenFOAM, their drawbacks and define the urgency for the development of a new software product. The authors received the results with the features of scientific novelty of the development. In particular, the authors implemented a mechanism of serialization of parameters of meshes to ensure the possibility to generate any quantity of meshes for one case in OpenFOAM, a mechanism to use bash-scripting for automatic executing console commands;and the possibility to prepare hexagonal dominating parametrical 2D meshes. The developed application expands the OpenFOAM source code, it was registered by Federal Institute of Industrial Property (certificates No 2016613637 dated April 1st, 2016 and No 2018616380 dated May 30th, 2018). If used, the application saves the working hours of experts, makes the understanding of the principles of numerical simulation with OpenFOAM easier.
