A novel framework for delivering static search capabilities to large textual corpora directly on the Web domain: an implementation for Migne's Patrologia Graeca

Purpose This study aims to provide a system capable of static searching on a large number of unstructured texts directly on the Web domain while keeping costs to a minimum. The proposed framework is applied to the unstructured texts of Migne's Patrologia Graeca (PG) collection, setting PG as an implementation example of the method. Design/methodology/approach The unstructured texts of PG have automatically transformed to a read-only not only Structured Query Language (NoSQL) database with a structure identical to that of a representational state transfer access point interface. The transformation makes it possible to execute queries and retrieve ranked results based on a specialized application of the extended Boolean model. Findings Using a specifically built Web-browser-based search tool, the user can quickly locate ranked relevant fragments of texts with the ability to navigate back and forth. The user can search using the initial part of words and by ignoring the diacritics of the Greek language. The performance of the search system is comparatively examined when different versions of hypertext transfer protocol (Http) are used for various network latencies and different modes of network connections. Queries using Http-2 have by far the best performance, compared to any of Http-1.1 modes. Originality/value The system is not limited to the case study of PG and has a generic application in the field of humanities. The expandability of the system in terms of semantic enrichment is feasible by taking into account synonyms and topics if they are available. The system's main advantage is that it is totally static which implies important features such as simplicity, efficiency, fast response, portability, security and scalability.

Software projects grow larger every year, which, in turn, makes the testing process harder. One of the most useful methods for testing large projects is unit-test generation. However, some tests can repeatedly cover the same parts of the code, making it difficult to maintain a growing test codebase. In software testing, test suite minimization plays a crucial role in reducing the cost of testing and improving the efficiency of the testing process. In this paper, we provide an extensible minimization engine that detects redundant tests using one of the supported minimization algorithms without changing the coverage metrics. We also performed a comprehensive analysis of existing approaches and techniques, developed an engine structure, and implemented multiple algorithms of different kinds. Finally, we evaluated our tool on various open-source projects to demonstrate its effectiveness and efficiency.

Since cloud computing becoming the trend, the way servers being implemented slowly moves to the cloud. Companies did not need to buy a physical server machine to deploy an app. Having a private server on cloud infrastructure indeed already reduce some cost for on-premise server maintenance. However, there is still a cost for usage when the server is inactive or having low to no traffic at all. Serverless deployment offer function as a service where application is deployed as a function and cost is billed per function call. This paper proposed a solution where there are two deployment that works in turn between infrastructure as a service and function as a service deployment. This dual deployment offered the system to use the virtual private server or deployed instance on active hours, and switch to serverless functions on inactive hours. Switching to serverless on low traffic hours will cut the usage and cost of the microservice app by the least 25%, while having performance slightly comparable to microservice app deployed to instances.

The paper presents an application of mHealth - a mobile app for remote health monitoring, that facilitates using a Bluetooth enabled health measuring device and synchronizing health data to a health care services provider's web portal. The mobile app uses a public api that allows its integration in a complex platform for home care providers, allowing health monitoring of large groups of patients, monitoring vital functions, including body temperature, respiratory rate and arterial blood oxygen saturation, relevant in monitoring COVID-19 patients.

The advent of the Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm highlighted the importance of core technologies at the root of any distributed systems, as wireless communications, cloud computing and big data analysis. Today, companies and organizations, pursuing the so-called Industry 4.0 (r)evolution, are moving toward smart factories, smart workforce, and intelligent transportation. The use of IoT technologies for connecting smart vehicles is identified by the IoV acronym, i.e. the Internet of Vehicle. In this work, the authors address the characterization of a distributed measurement platform for vehicle fleet management, focusing on time-related performance. In particular, a commercially available solution has been considered and real-world use cases have been identified, showing obtainable performance: with default configuration, an average overall delay less than 11 s has been estimated.

Pests such as whiteflies and fruit flies are very small and are impractical to find and locate using only the naked eye. Pests Detection and monitoring will greatly help the farmers to detect and locate pests even if they are very small and even if they are too far from their farms. In this study, YOLOV3 was used to classify and detect objects, specifically whiteflies and fruit flies. The researchers used a Raspberry Pi camera to gather images. Moreover, the researcher provides desktop and web application to display images obtained by the Raspberry Pi camera. Based on the confusion matrix (Table 3), the model obtained an overall accuracy of 83.07% in classifying and detecting whiteflies and fruit flies.

Test coverage is a standard measure used to evaluate the completeness of a test suite. Coverage is typically computed on source code, by assessing the extent of source code entities (e.g., statements, data dependencies, control dependencies) that are exercised when running test cases. When considering rest apis, an alternative perspective to assess test suite completeness is with respect to the service definition. This paper presents restats, a test coverage tool for rest apis that supports eight state-of-the-art test coverage metrics with a black-box perspective, i.e., only relying on the Openapi interface specification of the rest api under test. In fact, metrics are computed by only observing the HTTP requests and responses occurring at testing time, and no access to source/compiled code of the rest api is required. These coverage metrics come in handy for: (i) developers and test engineers working at development and maintenance tasks;(ii) stakeholders and customers who want to evaluate the completeness of acceptance tests;(iii) researches interested in comparing different automated test case generation strategies. restats GitHub repository: https://***/SeUniVr/restats restats demo video: https://***/restats-demo

In literature, we can find research tools to automatically generate test cases for restful apis, addressing the specificity of this particular programming domain. However, no direct comparison of these tools is available to guide developers in deciding which tool best fits their rest api project. In this paper, we present the results of an empirical comparison of automated black-box test case generation approaches for rest apis. We surveyed the available black-box testing tools that have been proposed in recent literature, finding four usable prototypes: restTestGen, restler, bBOXRT and restest. We used these tools to generate test cases for 14 real-world rest services. Then, testing results have been analyzed and compared in terms of robustness (i.e., success rate) and test coverage. Among the considered tools, restler appears to be the most solid, able to successfully test all case studies (the other tools experienced crashes). Conversely, test cases generated by restTestGen scored the highest coverage, suggesting that its testing strategy is the most effective in testing rest apis.

Cloud computing is a megatrend in industry digitalization. The virtual power plant (VPP) is especially suited for cloud deployment since it can manage energy resources that are not co-located. However, there is a lack of research in VPP cloudification, mainly related to multi-tenancy, a key technology behind the efficiency benefits of cloud computing. Cloudification is complicated as power systems and distributed energy resources frequently employ interfaces and protocols from an earlier era. In particular, IEC 60870-5-104 is a wellestablished standard for telecontrol in electrical engineering and power system automation applications. This paper proposes a new perspective on VPP interoperability via the application of cloud computing. IEC 60870-5-104 enabled systems are integrated into third-party systems in the cloud. Examples of such third-party systems are the Internet of Things-enabled distributed energy resources or electricity market information systems. This paper proposes a new problem definition of VPP-connected systems through establishing the said third party systems as tenants in a multi-tenant architecture. To define a general industry standards-based system architecture, both the software design methods and cloud computing architectural concepts are applied. An implementation is presented that is ready to integrate into systems in the field.

The work is devoted to the development of a computing node for processing satellite and spatial data for earth sciences by the example of its implementation as part of the Information and Analytical Environment to support scientific research in geology of the Vernadsky State Geological Museum (SGM RAS). The prerequisites for the creation of such a computing node and the requirements for it to solve geological problems are given. An overview of cloud platforms for access to satellite and spatial data and its processing has been presented. Based on the overview a conceptual diagram of a computing node has been proposed and the list of modern technologies required for building it has been determined. The developed node provides tools for searching data from external cloud providers, processing them with various built-in and custom algorithms, as well as tools for visualizing the results. It is an independent web service, although it is part of the Computational and Analytical Geological Environment of SGM RAS and is integrated with its services. This allows a wide range of users to access data and processing algorithms provided by computing node, including integrating it into other information systems as a third-party application for processing satellite and spatial data. © 2021 Copyright for this paper by its authors.
