This paper proposes an adaptive digital background error-correction technique to calibrate analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). The new approach combines an adaptive recursive-least-squares (rls) algorithm-based FIR filter and an accurate reference ADC. Matlab simulation indicates that the proposed rls filter is sufficient to remove the effect of large differential and integral nonlinearities resulting from component errors including capacitor mismatch, finite op-amp gain, op-amp offset and sampling-switch-induced offset. With a 100MHz sinusoidal input, the ENOB can be increased from 8.56bit to 15.55bit, the peak SNR can be increased from 53.29dB to 59.35dB and the SFDR can be increased from 56.52dB to 119.26dB.

Temperature forecasting based on meteorological data is the key stage for an accurate estimation of PV power production and demand-side management leading to better grid stability. Typically, weather forecasting is the prediction of weather parameters for seconds until months ahead based on the historical weather database. Thus, researchers create several approaches to maximize the accuracy of these predictions and increase the period of estimation. This paper proposes a new medium and long-term temperature forecasting approach based on Multi Inputs Single Output (MISO) model base on empirical equations. The parameters of the proposed model are computed using a Recursive Least Squares (rls) method. Using a set of real meteorological data, simulation results are presented to show the high accuracy of the proposed temperature forecasting approach.

Bit error rate (BER) performance of DS-CDMA receiver which consists of a RAKE receiver followed an adaptive MLSE diversity receiver is proposed to simultaneously suppress multi user interferences and multi path fading interferences. A new adaptive equalization in the channel estimator and predictor of MLSE receiver is introduced. rls algorithm is used for adaptive channel estimator. The algorithm is used for adaptive channel estimator. The Euclidean distance of branch metric of adaptive MLSE is computed by using the estimated channel impulse response and the channel input sequence. The results show that, the proposed model is useful ti improve the performance of DS-CDMA system in fading channel and the capacity of DS-CDMA system can be increased.

In the context of adaptive filtering, the recursive least-squares (rls) is a very popular algorithm, especially for its fast convergence rate. The most important parameter of this algorithm is the forgetting factor. It is well-known that a constant value of this parameter leads to a compromise between misadjustment and tracking. In this paper, we present a variable forgetting factor approach, aiming to better compromise between the performance criteria of the rls algorithm. Also, we propose a practical solution to estimate the power of the system noise (in a system identification scenario), which is required within the algorithm. Experiments performed in the context of network echo cancellation support the advantages of the proposed approach.

In high-speed multimedia mobile communications, when multi-path signal arrive at the antenna, different time delays must exist among different paths, which bring about Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI). Therefore, the technique called temporal equalizer for 8-element adaptive array antennas (AAA) is studied in this paper. This technique is realized through landscape orientation filter, whose weight vector is formed by rls algoritm. AAA is only employed on base station. meanwhile, transmitting downlink signal with a simple way. Computer simulation runs in the environment with TDMATDD frame structure. The result shows that the BER value is improved and the performance is better than ever.

In this paper, an rls algorithm with selective modification of the system estimation covariance matrix is employed to track the rapidly changing components of system parameters. A new on-line wavelet detector is designed for accurately identifying the changing locations and the branches of changing parameters. Employing theses techniques, the tracking performance of the proposed algorithm to rapidly changing systems can be significantly improved.

Plane wave propagation is an important field of interest in magnetic theory. In this paper, we propose an adaptive filtering noise canceller that enables us to estimate an incident plane wave from the total plane wave seen in a medium. In order to test the proposed canceller, a comparison between the performances of the least mean square (LMS), recursive least squares (rls) and recursive inverse (RI) algorithms is investigated. Simulation results show that the RI algorithm outperforms the LMS algorithm in terms of convergence rate and the ability of estimating the incident wave. Also, it outperforms the rls algorithm in terms of the number of mathematical operations required at each iteration and the ability of suppressing noise.

This paper considers the realization of high-speed phase synchronization when there exists a frequency error and discusses the application of the recursive least square (rls) algorithm to the burst signal demodulator. Especially, as a phase control algorithm for the coherent detection where there is an error in the carrier frequency, a method is proposed to represent the phase variation by the frequency error as the state transition function and a detailed algorithm is derived. It is shown that the theoretical convergence and the tracking performance of the algorithm agree with those of the ordinary rls algorithm. The algorithm is applied to the frequency control circuit of the pi/4-QPSK differential detector and the phase control circuit of the 16-QAM quasi-coherent detector. It is demonstrated experimentally that the system has an excellent performance and that the initial convergence is complete in approximately ten symbols when there exists a frequency error.

Due to the resource limitation of fossil energies and the environmental requirements, wind energy has gained increasing attention in virtue of its richness in resources and cleanliness, and wind power generation technology has achieved rapid development. The modeling accuracy of wind turbines has a great influence on the dynamic analysis and control of wind turbines. Thus, this paper studies the dominant mechanism model of the drive-train system and analyzes its transfer function under the two-mass structure which is a non-self-balancing object. Then, two parameter identification methods via the recursive least squares(rls) algorithm and the intelligent parameter identification algorithm with the particle swarm optimization(PSO)are compared. Furthermore, the grey-box state-space model of the drive-train system is constructed and the identification steps are systematically presented. In order to validate the effectiveness of the two methods, the identification processes are carried out based on the simulation data of a 5 MW wind turbine from FAST under different wind conditions. The identification results confirm the feasibilities of the proposed methods and prove that intelligent parameter identification is capable of acquiring better identification performances and less dependent on the selection and preprocessing of identified data.

This paper considers adaptive signal equalization in a channel with inter-symbol interference (ISI) distortion. In this process two adaptive FIR filters with different "forgetting factors" are used to update their filter coefficients. rls algorithm is applied to optimize the filter coefficients. A comparison to a Genetic algorithm was done. The difference between the estimated mean square errors of both filters provides indication on how to change the "forgetting factors" to get closer to their optimal value. Finally, the computational efforts for filters with five different filter orders are compared. The obtained results prove the applicability of the presented approach.
