General Volterra series based models have been succ-essfully applied for radio frequency (RF) power amplifier behave-oral modeling, but their high complexity tends to limit their applications to "weakly" nonlinear systems. To model a soft-defined shortwave PA with strong nonlinearities and long memory effects, we propose a memory polynomial model (MP model) which is a simplified Volterra series based model for RF power amplifiers by employing a diagonal pruning algorithm, therefore dramatically reducing the complexity of the behavioral model. The comparison between the simulation results by MP Model and the measured result by the test platform based on DSP and FPGA shows that MP model and adaptive rls algorithm can describe the nonlinear memory power amplifier behavior characterizes for the soft-defined short-wave amplifier system accurately and effectively. Furthermore, the identification method for soft-defined shortwave transmitter is simple, few parameters, steady algorithm, and practical.

In this paper, a joint channel estimation and interference cancellation scheme for space-time coded multi-user systems is presented. We consider M synchronous co-channel users, each is equipped with N-t-transmitting antennas. The receiver is equipped with N-r (greater than or equal toM) receive antennas. It is shown that the proposed scheme estimates the channel and suppresses the interference without any explicit knowledge of the channel and the interference. In addition, this interference cancellation scheme has less complexity than minimum mean squared error (NMSE) scheme, while maintaining the same decoding complexity with acceptable performance degradation due to channel estimation errors.

Adaptive signal processing plays an important role in small signal detection. This article discussed about the basic principle of the adaptive filter. According to practical output of detection circuit in MEMS acceleration sensor, reference and input signal can be easily acquired. LMS and rls algorithm were simulated by Matlab and the digital filter was achieved in FPCA. SNR of the output signal of filter based on rls algorithm was 23 dB when that of the input signal was 3 dB. The result showed that the noise in detection circuit can be well eliminated by rls adaptive filter.

The recently proposed Recursive Inverse (RI) algorithm was shown to have a similar mean-square-error (mse) performance as the Recursive-Least-Squares (rls) algorithm with reduced complexity. The selection of the forgetting factor has a significant influence on the performance of the rls algorithm. The value of the forgetting factor leads to a tradeoff between the stability and the tracking ability. In a system identification setting, both the filter length and a leakage phenomenon affect the selection of the forgetting factor. In this paper, we first analytically show that this leakage phenomenon and the filter length have much less influence on the performance of the RI algorithm. Simulation results, in a system identification setting, validate the theoretical results.

Combinations of adaptive filters have attracted attention as a simple solution to improve filter performance, including tracking properties. In this paper, we consider combinations of LMS and rls filters, and study their performance for tracking time-varying solutions. We show that a combination of two filters from the same family (i.e., two LMS or two rls filters) cannot improve the performance over that of a single filter of the same type with optimal selection of the step size (or forgetting factor). However, combining LMS and rls filters it is possible to simultaneously outperform the optimum LMS and rls filters. In other words, combination schemes can achieve smaller errors than optimally adjusted individual filters. Experimental work in a plant identification setup corroborates the validity of our results.

This paper presents a new simplified adaptive channel prediction scheme for MIMO-OFDM system. It is based on the conjugate gradient (CG) algorithm. This simplification also uses Alamouti's STBC code which leads to a simple decoding process. Compared with the traditional rls algorithm, CG performances better in the decision-directed demodulation mode. And this scheme is also designed to have the capability to restrain the noise and it causes a better prediction result.

We propose adaptive channel predictors for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communications over time-varying channels. Successful application of the normalized least-mean-square (NLMS) and recursive least-squares (rls) algorithms is demonstrated. We also consider the use of adaptive channel predictors for delay-free equalization, thereby avoiding the need for regular transmission of pilot symbols. Simulation results demonstrate the good performance of the proposed techniques.

Digital baseband predistortion technology can effectively reduce the system nonlinear distortion. However, the predistortion algorithms based on indirect structure are sensitive to measurement noise and the traditional loop-delay estimation algorithms are vulnerable to the amplifier's nonlinear distortion especially in the amplifier saturation region. In this paper, we first present an adaptive nonlinear predistorter based on direct learning structure and then propose a new loop-delay estimation algorithm which applies to PA nonlinear distortion conditions by analyzing the relationship between the system loop-delay misalignment and the amplitude of HPA model identification error output. Simulation results show that the power spectral density (PSD) after the predistortion is very close to that of the ideal signal and a good NMSE performance is achieved.

The modelling of nonlinear and multidimensional systems from input and/or output measurements is considered. Tensor concepts are used to reformulate old results and develop several new ones. These results are verified through non-trivial computer simulations. A generalized tensor formulation for the modelling of discrete-time stationary nonlinear systems is presented. Tensor equivalents of the normal equations are derived and several efficient methods for their solution are discussed. Conditions are established that ensure a diagonal correlation tensor so that a solution can be obtained directly without matrix inversion. Using a tensor formulation, a new proof of the Generalized Lattice Theory is obtained. Tensor extensions of the Levinson and Schur algorithms are presented. New two-dimensional (2-D) lattice parameter models are derived. Using the tensor form of the Generalized Lattice Theory the 2-D multi-point error order-updates are decomposed into 0(N ) single point updates. 2-D extensions of the Levinson and Schur algorithms are given. The quarter plane lattice is considered in detail, first in a general form, then in forms which reduce the computational complexity by assuming shift-invariance. Based on the 2-D lattice, a new nonlinear lattice model is developed. The model is capable of updates in the nonlinear as well as time order.

In this paper a finite impulse response (FIR) filter for online adaptive modeling of satellite attitude control systems is proposed, and a recursive least squares (rls) algorithm is used to adjust the adaptive FIR filter coefficients for minimizing the output error between the monitored system and the FIR filter. The fault information can be obtained through the analysis of the adaptive FIR filter coefficients. This fault detection technique is applied to the satellite attitude control system, and evaluate the performance with failures. Simulation results demonstrate that the method is effective in the fault detection and simple to implement.
