An Adaptive Vibration Control Procedure Based on Symbolic Solution of Diophantine Equation

In this paper, the adaptive control based on symbolic solution of Diophantine equation is used to suppress circular plate vibrations. It is assumed that the system to be regulated is unknown. The plate is excited by a uniform force over the bottom surface generated by a loudspeaker. The axially-symmetrical vibrations of the plate are measured by the application of the strain sensors located along the plate radius, and two centrally placed piezoceramic discs are used to cancel the plate vibrations. The adaptive control scheme presented in this work has the ability to calculate the error sensor signals, to compute the control effort and to apply it to the actuator within one sampling period. For precise identification of system model the regularized rls algorithm has been applied. Self-tuning controller of RST type, derived for the assumed system model of the 4th order is used to suppress the plate vibration. Some numerical examples illustrating the improvement gained by incorporating adaptive control are demonstrated.

"Recursive least absolute" (RLA) error algorithm is derived which is basically the sign algorithm (SA) combined with recursive estimation of the inverse covariance matrix of the reference input. The name RLA comes from the absolute error criterion. Analysis of the transient behavior and steady-state performance of the RLA algorithm is fully developed. Results of experiment show that the RLA algorithm considerably improves the convergence rate of the SA while preserving the robustness against impulse noise. Good agreement between the simulation and the theoretically calculated convergence validates the analysis.

In this paper, an adaptive noise cancellation system based on rls algorithm is presented, and the principle of noise cancellation system and the steps and processes of rls algorithm are described. The simulation of adaptive noise cancellation system based on rls algorithm is obtained by using an example. The simulation results show that the rls adaptive filter can effectively eliminate the interference and get useful signal in two cases of single frequency interference and broadband noise. It is proved that the adaptive noise cancellation system based on rls algorithm can eliminate the noise and improve the signal quality of speech communication in the communication processing of speech signal. DOA/MoM-based ABF algorithm for SINR enhancement

In this study, a new non-iterative adaptive beamforming (ABF) algorithm for the signal-to-interference and noise ratio (SINR) enhancement is proposed. It is based on a combination between the direction of arrival (DOA) estimation and the method of moments (MoM). The proposed algorithm is denoted as DM/ABF which stands for DOA and MoM-based ABF. The DOA is used to provide accurate estimates for the directions of the desired and interfering signals. On the basis of the estimated DOAs, a dedicated shaped pattern version of the ordinary pattern is created and applied as the desired input to the MoM algorithm. The MoM is used for shaped pattern synthesis to estimate the weights vector required to provide deep nulls toward the interfering signals and directs the main beam toward the desired signal. In this case, the weights vector does not update iteratively at each received signal sample as in case of least mean square (LMS) and recursive least squares (rlss) algorithms, but it is updated only when the estimated DOAs of the desired and interfering signals are changed. Furthermore, a large number of close nulls can be produced without the need for additional antenna elements compared with other algorithms.

In this correspondence, we establish a matrix pseudo-inversion lemma, and use it to develop an extended recursive least-squares (Erls) algorithm. Recursive inverse adaptive algorithm: a second-order version, a fast implementation technique, and further results

A variable step-size and first-order recursive estimate of the autocorrelation matrix have been used in the update equation of the recently proposed recursive inverse (RI) algorithm. These lead to an improved performance of the RI algorithm compared with some well-known adaptive algorithms. In this paper, the RI algorithm is first briefly reviewed. An improved version of the RI algorithm, which uses a second-order recursive estimation of the correlations, is introduced. A general fast implementation technique for the RI algorithms is presented. The performances of the fast RI and fast second-order RI algorithms are compared to that of the rls algorithm in stationary white and correlated noise environments in a noise cancellation setting. The simulation results show that the fast RI algorithms outperform the others compared either in speed of convergence and/or the computational complexity when the MSE is held constant. The performance of the original RI algorithms is compared to that of the rls algorithm in a system identification setting. Simulations show that the RI algorithms perform similar or better than the other algorithms.

There has been a challenging work for using conventional techniques to model and control pneumatic artificial muscle (PM) due to poor knowledge and uncertainty of the process and/or complexity of the resulting mathematical model. Trying to deal with these problems, this study proposes a novel framework-Echo State Network (ESN) as a basis to implement the tasks in the PM's modeling and control. To describe the system dynamics and the external disturbance changes with time, the online ESN adaptation scheme is presented based on the recursive least squares (rls) algorithm. Both simulation and experimental results show that the proposed procedure has better dynamic performance and strong robustness over the other typical/classical approaches. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. Recurrent neuro-fuzzy modeling and fuzzy MDPP control for flexible servomechanisms

This paper considers the nonlinear system identification and control for flexible servomechanisms. A multi-step-ahead recurrent neuro-fuzzy model consisting of local linear ARMA (autoregressive moving average) models with bias terms is suggested for approximating the dynamic behavior of a servomechanism including the effects of flexibility and friction. The rls ( recursive least squares) algorithm is adopted for obtaining the optimal consequent parameters of the rules. Within each fuzzy operating region, a local MDPP ( minimum degree pole placement) control law with integral action can be constructed based on the estimated local model. Then a fuzzy controller composed of these local MDPP controls can be easily constructed for the servomechanism. The techniques are illustrated using computer simulations.

This paper studies the stochastic behavior of the recursive least squares (rls) algorithm in a system identification framework for a cyclostationary colored input. The input cyclostationary signal is modeled by a colored random process with periodically time-varying power. The system parameters vary according to a random-walk. Mathematical models are derived for the mean and mean-square-deviation (MSD) behavior of the adaptive weights as a function of the input cyclostationarity. The MSD behaviors of the rls and LMS algorithms are compared for cyclostationary colored input. Monte Carlo simulations provide strong support for the theory. A separate analysis for white Gaussian and non-Gaussian inputs is presented in support of the assumptions made for the mathematical model above.

This paper develops adaptive step-size blind LMS algorithms and adaptive forgetting factor blind rls algorithms for code-aided suppression of multiple access interference (MAI) and narrowband interference (NBI) in DS/CDMA systems. These algorithms optimally adapt both the step size (forgetting factor) and the weight vector of the blind linear multiuser detector using the received measurements, Simulations are provided to compare the proposed algorithms with previously studied blind rls and blind LMS algorithms, They show that the adaptive step-size blind LMS algorithm and adaptive forgetting factor blind rls algorithm yield significant improvements over the standard blind LMS algorithm and blind rls algorithm in dynamic environments where the number of interferers are time-varying.
