Based on the analysis of the reactive current detection method based on the instantaneous power theory, a voltage detection method based on the synchronous rotary angle is proposed. At the same time, the voltage detection method is introduced into the traditional p-q detection method to form an improved p-q reactive current detection method based on the synchronous rotary angle. This method realizes the accurate detection of reactive current when the three-phase grid voltage is unbalanced or contains harmonics. The Matlab/Simulink simulation verification proves that the method has high detection accuracy, good dynamic performance, and can meet the requirements of reactive power compensation current detection.

This paper developed a novel single-phase reactive current detection algorithm based on fast orthogonal signal generator (OSG) and enhanced moving average filter (MAF), overcoming the limitation of conventional schemes in detection speed, computation burden and noise/harmonic immunity. A fast and accurate OSG scheme is introduced first, which can remarkably improve the precision and response speed of the developed detection scheme. In d-q frame, the enhanced MAF is developed and its optimal design principle is also presented, which can sufficiently eliminate the noise and harmonics while achieve the possible shortest response time, particularly in the case of selective harmonics cancellation. Finally, high-performance single-phase STATCOM control is realized utilizing the proposed method. Experiments reveal that the proposed detection scheme exhibits fast speed, high precision as well as noise/harmonics immunity, providing satisfactory control performances.

In the single-phase photovoltaic (PV) grid-connected distributed generation (DG) system located at the end of the feeder, it is necessary to provide quickly active and reactive power to the local loads. In this paper, an improved reactive current detection and power control method are proposed to realize active power control and reactive power compensation. To detect quickly the loads reactive current, a fast reactive current detection method using the derivative and i(p)-i(q) algorithm is presented, and it can overcome the long delay in a conventional phase-shift method. In the inner current loop, the quasi-proportional-resonant (QPR) control method with grid voltage feed-forward is presented to control accurately the grid current with zero steady error, and to reduce the current distortion due to the frequency offset and distortion of the grid voltage. The inner loop stability is analyzed, and the proper parameters are selected. In the outer loop, proportional-integrator (PI) controller is applied to stabilize the dc-link voltage, and power feed-forward is introduced to speed up system response. Simulation and experimental results verified the validity of the proposed control method.

In light of the issue that the grid's high reactive power consumption and the reduction in power quality brought about by the addition of new energy power generation both contribute to some degree of grid voltage fluctuation. And the requirements of model parameter testing cannot be satisfied by the current detecting device. Research approach for static variable generator (SVG) hardware-in-the -loop system optimization using Simulink is proposed. Initially, the SVG control mechanism and mathematical model are suggested. Next, using Simulink, SVG modeling and control methods are investigated in accordance with the real requirements of power system simulation, and the model's operational outcomes are examined to confirm its dependability. Lastly, SVG hardware -in -the-loop simulation testing was carried out using the PXI real-time simulator and StarSim HIL software. The model's dependability and accuracy have been confirmed, and it is better able to satisfy the demands of real power system modeling applications.

The reactive current detection methods in reactive power compensation device based on instantaneous reactive power theory were discussed in the paper. By analyzing the quality of various kinds of harmonious and reactive current detection methods in power system, and according to different compensation requirement, two reactive current detection methods ip-iq method and Hilbert method were adopted. Then it gives simulations on these two models to analyze their comprehensive performance of both stable state and dynamic state. Finally, gives a verification under a IC hardware platform. The result shows that these two methods can well inspected the three-phase reactive current, and then to complete the system compensation.

According to the defect of the instantaneous reactive power theory under nonsinusoidal voltage condition, the rotating frame detection algorithm is proposed. The reactive current can be detected accurately under nonsinusoidal voltage condition by the detection algorithm. Compared with other rotating frame detection algorithms, the algorithm only need the voltage and current instantaneous values instead of the voltage phase angle. This effectively simplifies the hardware detection circuit.

In this paper, a transient control method is proposed to compensate the reactive currents when the resistive inductive load is suddenly connected to the power winding of the brushless doubly-fed generator (BDFG). Under stand-alone situation, the waveform of stator power winding voltage is strongly affected because of reactive power component of load. To tackle this problem, the load-side converter (LSC) works as a static var generator by injecting a reactive current at the point of common coupling (PCC) to compensate the reactive load. Hence, the LSC controller must determine the instantaneous value of the reference compensation current, according to the reactive component of the load current. This paper analyzes the transient state of the load current when the load is suddenly connected to the BDFG, and proposes a compensation algorithm which has a good transient-state performance at the PCC. In addition, an improved reactive load current detection which does not rely on phase-locked loops is applied in this paper and the moving average (MVA) filter instead of traditional low-pass filter (LPF) is also used. So the control algorithm is simple and do not need more computation. The correctness of the proposed method is demonstrated by simulations and experiments.
